Weglot - Thinkific integration

Overall experience with Weglot has been very positive. If you want to provide multi-lingual content in Thinkific, look no further. Highly recommended.

Pros:

Overall Weglot works really well with Thinkific. The machine translation is of high quality, and the admin interface is intuitive and easy to use. Kudos to Weglot's excellent support: they respond swiftly, and have been able to solve all the issues we've encountered so far.

Cons:

The integration could have been easier. There have been several occasions that I've had to turn to Weglot's support to resolve an issue. These issues have been minor for the most part, but still meaningful. Also, the way to implement the language switcher with videos could be a bit more straightforward.

Issues with Integration

Initially the trial test worked well. It translated some of our pages and we find any server side issues. Other then a few translation errors for meaning, which were easily fixed by a native speaker, everything was working at least 95% We proceed for the paid plan of 3 languages and quickly exceeded our word translation allowance. There were some errors with button colors and some functionality with the paid version. Their Support Team told us we needed to White List the plugin, which caused our site to quickly crash and the pages not to load. Our site started receiving hack attacks from different locations around the world. Their support team just stopped communicating with us and have refused to close and refund us. We are now contracting a professional services to fix the errors their plugin caused on our site. Completely our fault for not having a Dev Site to try this on first, but we trusted the reviews we read and trusted in their company. We have lost thousands in revenue in the past 5 days and they are not even responding to us.

Website crashed We started getting thousands of requests each hour from different IP address trying to brute force hack our website. Their support takes more then 48 hours to respond, often without offering assistance and requesting the same information again and again. Lost thousands in revenue Costing us Thousands to fix their errors Google Translate is free and less doesn't crash your site.

Weglot is a good way to translate easily your website, but not perfect

Pros:

Weglot is easy to implement on a website, and it automatically translates most of the elements of the website. To start, if you don't have Shopify plus (or a way to duplicate and translate your website), it is probably the best way to start selling internationally ! The English translation is well done, and the Spanish one as well. The customer success team is very available and helpful !

Cons:

First, you need to delete the old translations yourself if you want to reduce the number of words translated because weglot doesn't do so automatically. If you want to correct a translation, you sometimes have to do it a lot of times. Some elements of the website are not translated, or not all the time. Some customers told us that the German translation is not great; apparently some words are not very well translated.

Reasons for choosing Weglot

We chose Weglot because it is easier to install and to work with apparently.
