Will it work on chromebooks for students?

Pleasant experience. The main question our team was asked: Would this be suitable for student use? My response: Yes indeed.

Intuitive layout. Lots of features. short learning curve.

Cons:

I use SCREENCAST-O-MATIC and a feature they include that I use ALL THE TIME: Narration Silence CUT or SPEED UP? With a single click I can cut all the silent segments in a video. In WeVideo I have to find and trim each segment one. at. a. time. So my production time is higher when I use WeVideo.

Reasons for switching to WeVideo

WeVideo functions smoothly on a chromebook and is a good balance of easy to use with rich features. On my Windows computer I will use screencast-o-matic because it has one feature: Single click editing that trims or speeds up all narration silence found in a video. Most of the content I produce is lecture or software tutorial and this one feature makes screencast-o-matic my favored video editor. I can complete a lecture in one take and clean up the silence in one click.

WeVideo

Overall, it is amazing. I like it because it is simple and I can only handle simple! It has helped me get my auditions done, edited, converted into smaller files, and it publishes them and helps me get them out to the casting people really efficiently. It feels like I get a great looking, finished product in minimal processing time, so I can focus on my work being really in depth--I mean, I can rehearse more and waste less time on the packaging and distribution part.

I figured out how to edit pretty quickly--even with my kids out of call-button range : ) I love that Google has everything: lots of storage, and easy-to-use and incredibly modern tools. I paid about $100 and that has been a wonderful investment considering how much easier it has made my life. I can convert media files from my camera into much smaller, easy-to-transfer mp4s and get things done quickly.

Cons:

Mine lags a lot when I'm watching it back. I have to hope it is performing better for people on the other end (and that the issue is my old-ish computer or my Internet speed? IDK--no techie genes over here). I also wish I could see WHO viewed my videos since it is usually a handful and I'm wondering if they have been really going over it or if it was a one-and-done deal. It would give me feedback on my work in that way.

Reasons for choosing WeVideo

Storage is on the "server" or whatever magical entity exists to save my life. My computers are all pretty old so the amount of media I upload slows them down a lot. Not to mention viruses and whatever.... This free storage space keeps my computer working quickly and that's SO important in my field. And it was so easy to use! I have a whole web series I never edited because I would have had to pay someone to do it and it gets expensive fast! I might be able to go back and actually put all those files together now!

Reasons for switching to WeVideo

You don't leave enough space for the above question : ) I have used free file converter software to send videos by email, or dropbox, vimeo, on the Google drive, and so on. They are all annoying and frustrating. On Actor's Access, I've also used converters the casting director has supplied, but that rarely happens. I am usually in a panic, late, and wondering if my agent will even get to submit me. This is sooo helpful, most of the tools I need are on my drive on in my email, everyone uses Google (I also use it to teach/tutor online), and it is honestly genius. I sincerely appreciate discovering it--and that someone brilliant is inventing these tools. Oh, and affordably!!! Google Meet is another thing I could not have lived without during the pandemic. Thank you, Google Geniuses!!!

Website Is Good For Quick Films!

This is a great website for beginners but when you need more features, its not as much as I'd hoped for. The app was amazing for school though! I got stuff done really fast with this website!

Very great for people who want to learn how to film make and create videos. I used this app once for YouTube, it was great and quick to use! I use the filter effects it comes with and the video looks better and sound comes out great in the final product. I like how you don't have to download the app, you can just sign up and use it. Very useful for school when you don't want to download anything!

Cons:

I wish this website would make it cheaper to remove the water mark instead of having to sign up for monthly subscription. The soft were design needs more updates of features and more effects.

Reasons for switching to WeVideo

More features without subscriptions and no limitations to how long the video is, it just puts a water mark on it, the water mark is little bit smaller too. Power Director has updated features that are less early 2000's and windows 7 vibes, I do like the early 2000's systems but it wasn't what I was looking for at the time so I thought this movie maker was more suited for me.

Creating Professional Looking Videos Has Never Been So Easy

The best part of WeVideo is the flexibility to be as artistic as you want. There are templates for you to start with or you can start with a blank canvas. Students as young as Grade 1 have used WeVideo with success.

Pros:

I make all kinds of videos for education. Some are how-to videos, some are informational videos, and some are celebratory videos. WeVideo is so incredibly easy to use. Uploading content to edit is so easy. And I love the professional-looking quality of the completed videos. WeVideo also has a great library of images, videos and music that I can use as well.

Cons:

I can't think of anything that could be improved!

A good start for cloud editing

WeVideo can appear quite pricey for what's essentially a basic video editor, but if you make use of the cloud-based processing and collaboration features, it's ultimately worth it.

Pros:

Very easy to use. Comes with plenty of cloud storage. Thanks to cloud processing, it can run on the most basic of computers, including Chromebooks.

Cons:

Advanced editing features, which are now common in offline video editing programs, are still not available on WeVideo. For example: audio syncing, audio effects, copying effects between clips.
