Great Software - Very intuitive

I used MoreSteam’s EngineRoom software as part of my Lean Six Sigma learning journey, and I found it very easy to use. The ability to visually see data through charts and graphs was especially helpful in strengthening my understanding of the course material—even when working through more advanced topics like statistical analysis. The intuitive interface and clear visualizations assisted me and my classmates with a greater understanding.

Using Moresteam to teach Six Sigma to our Stars in Ghana.

I am a retired Quality consultant, now 77 and rusty with tech. Was hard for me. I am president of Tomorrow's Stars charity www.tstars.org and friend of [sensitive content hidden]. I have 4 students in Ghana using the program as a donation, thank you very much. I help them with six sigma theory, project selection, then selecting tools and querying/interpreting the data. Worked very well for me as a coach for them. I didn't use the Engine Room support but my students did.

It is extraordinarily powerful with simple and complex statistical tools. Even beyond the tools introduced in Moresteam. The analysis is presented with the statistics so that you knowledge level is challenged. Very impressed as a retired six sigma black belt and consultant.

Cons:

My age, experience and purpose!! I struggled with moving the data around and storing studies. Once I got to the analysis, it was very useful as a student and coach. See below.

Training Class Use of Engine Room

Exposed to the ENGINE ROOM during Yellow Belt training. Never did figure out how to use it. Now I use MS-Excel instead.

Engineroom. A modern upgrade from Minitab.

We are very happy that we made the switch from Minitab to Engineroom because of the better cost and it's integration with Traction.

Engineroom is extremely user friendly and is very straightforward for our project owners to use. The support team is very helpful as well.

Cons:

There is not much to list as far as cons for Engineroom. It is very well integrated with Traction. It is not user customizable which might be an issue for some.

It was more expensive and was outdated. Also we wanted Engineroom to use it alongside Traction.

A Utility Tool that gets you places - Engine Room

Engine room is a one-stop solution with value for money solutions for the corporates. It enables Lean Six Sigma tool, seamlessly embedded in Excel or through a cloud‑based mechanism, well suited for DMAIC and other improvement methodologies A super useful tool to the highly motivated engineers to collaborate and enhance effectiveness

Cons:

I feel it needs a bit more enhancements in the data dashboards, although the learning curve designed on the tool is very effective to precisely understand and obtain data analysis Not yet used the dashboard data feature, but it seems to be not much eye catching for first time users.

It has almost all the functions needed for statistical analysis. Much easier to perform the analysis than using excel or other softwares. It also asks for the particular data needed for the required for the analysis, feature not seen in other softwares.

Cons:

I do not have a lot of cons to list. My overall experience was positive. Only thing I can mention is that it takes some time to learn. But once learned, it is quite easy.

Customer Support has been fantastic. Whenever, I was hung up on something, MoreSteam helped me right away by scheduling a meeting with me and talking me through it. I love how Process Playground is tied into EngineRoom. It allows me to jump from data analysis to event simulations seamlessly.

Cons:

Although the process of doing the analysis is relatively straight forward and easy. There is a learning curve with what the tool is needing to do the analysis. I have had experience with SigmaXL and Minitab so retraining my brain to fit EngineRoom was an initial challenge. However, it is easy to overcome and now it is easy to do everything I need.

Reasons for switching to EngineRoom

It is easier to use and cheaper from a licensing standpoint.

Minitab Convert - Cost Effective Alternative

I have been happy with EngineRoom, I don't need to do data analysis daily, more like 3-4 times a month so it's a cost effective alternative to Minitab and I can see that it is fairly easy to learn to use and offers more tools than I have used so far.

Engineroom provides great value for money, I grew up using Minitab which was no longer affordable for my company and so far I have been pleased with my experience with EngineRoom. As a long time Minitab user, the learning curve is likely higher than it would be for a newbie because I continue to think the way I previously worked but it has still been quite easy to learn and use for my data analysis needs. I also enjoy how it provides other Lean Six Sigma tools to make my job easier!

Cons:

There are gaps that I am still getting used to compared to Minitab. Lots of tools but not all of my favorite tools and logging in for me is a nuisance, often having to reset password. As someone who was used to using stats within a network without log in, that's been a con for me. For someone not used to a networked tool or better as tracking passwords or who uses it daily, probably not a big deal.

Cost - our company does not currently have the budget/need for a more expensive tool
