About Paperturn

PaperTurn is a cloud-based platform, which enables small to large businesses to convert PDFs into flipbooks. It allows professionals to design a variety of flipbooks such as reports, magazines, brochures and eBooks and apply page-turning effects.

PaperTurn assists with design customization, letting professionals add page flipping sounds, insert logo, color customize flipbook viewer and change language. Administrators can protect flipbooks by adding passwords, control access and enable or disable share, print and download functions. Businesses can use the shopping cart feature to sell products, allowing shoppers to place orders and maintain wish lists. Its lead generation tools let users collect details using lead capture form and export them to CRM or email marketing system.

PaperTurn offers integration with the third-party platform Google Analytics and Tag Manager. The solution is available for monthly and yearly subscriptions and support is extended via phone, email and documentation.

A software solution we didn't know we needed

We publish a parts catalog once a year, but make changes to it many time throughout the year and went from spending 5 figures on printing, shipping, etc to only paying the subscription fee for PaperTurn which is obviously insanely cheap in comparison. We don't need to worry about shipping anything anymore and customers regardless of what type of device they choose to use can pull up our catalog, browse through it, print it, download it, whatever they want to do and anytime we have a price change the second we press upload its reflected online without any tedious effort needed so our prices can be updated in real time for our customers instead of them needing to wait a year or call in to see the new pricing.

Pros:

The ability to make a publication offline, upload it, and have it immediately compatible with all browsers, both desktop and mobile has been a game changer for us. Making changes by simply reuploading our publication on top of itself is amazing. We can make changes daily and our customers never need a new link, there's no downtime, the changes are just instant and all it takes is up pressing upload. The realistic approach of actually turning paper on mobile or desktops, the page turning sound, search function, thumbnail functions, all of the little additional things you wouldn't think mattered have made our customers experiencing searching our catalog so much better.

Cons:

We had a few customers tell us they couldn't access our publication online and after researching the issue we found the server our publication was hosted on was not in the US and their firewall was using GEO-IP to block countries outside of the US. We resolved the issue but be aware that could happen to you.

Reasons for choosing Paperturn

After using the trial of paperturn, seeing how fast it responded and the additional features it provided for our run of the mill catalog is what ultimately made me choose this software. When it came time to renew after our first year we did so without hesitation as PaperTurn has become a stable for our business.

We find its functionality very user friendly and we use the statistics tab a lot throughout issues to track the progress of readership.

Cons:

With every edition we have difficulties with embedding the custom code onto our Squarespace website. For two such leading brands we would have hoped that this wouldn't be an issue but it is.

Ease of use, along with the extra features and permissions come in real handy. We use them to customize each customer's proof Experience.

Cons:

Upload time to the server is pretty slow. It'd help us out a whole lot if it could create a high quality ePub file.

Reasons for switching to Paperturn

We could no longer trust that their flipbooks would accurately match the original PDF without some extra rigging via photoshop. Their software was causing some type to fade compared to the original PDF.

Easy and Quick when needed, Robust when needed.

We produce a print publication that does not have a digital release, to sell advertising, potential advertisers want to see the publication. Rather than wasting time mailing hard copy issues, I can simply create a pageturn of our most recent issue and email them the link. From there they can view the full issue. Great time saver!! and Great visual experience.

When I don't have time, I love I can simply upload my pdf and whoolah...it's ready in minutes. When I need more detail, there are plenty of options to integrate elements, links, etc. I'm not an IT person...and I don't need to be.

Cons:

I do wish my level included a few more books, I really have to keep to a budget, which means I have to remove some pub's before I'd like so more can be added.

I love that everything about Paperturn is geared towards being easy to understand, navigate and implement which, for a small non profit is absolutely essential.

Tutorials on how to make the most out of how you can use Paperturn would be really useful

Yumpu started having pop ups with inappropriate content and, when I complained, tried to justify it on the basis that I could upgrade to avoid these adult content pop ups which upset my readership

Dependable - Both the Product and Customer Service

Our client wanted a digital version on their annual benefits guide for healthcare open enrollment. In my past carriers, I have used similar products on the market, and was unhappy. Within my first chat with customer service, I was impressed and signed up for a free trial. Anytime I have had an issue, customer service was there to answer my questions (no matter how trivial!).

My favorite part of this product is that our client can use this on their desktop and phone and there is NO DIFFERENCE between the quality and ease of use. As an account manager, a happy client is the goal!

Being able to update and overwrite documents without changing links is a lifesaver - our brochure often contains details of recurring events, so we can update dates and re-upload copies without having to go share a new link.

Cons:

Users have reported that the accessibility functions are not ideal for those with limited vision.
