Traction Business is an effective accounting product

Great. Traction business has great tech support. I really enjoy the Plaid connection with my bank. My accountant found Traction Business very useful for the schedule F preparation.

it is a good record keeping product. I like Traction Business - it is has the Plaid connection to my bank - which makes checking transactions and reconcilation easy. I also like the integration with my Growmark account. Traction Business is a very useful product for the farm accounting, record keeping and bill paying.

Cons:

I don't have any complaints. This kind of high level accounting and record keeping does take a time commitment.

Traction Business is a more advance, a more thorough product. it is a step or two more advanced/developed than the quickbooks I used.

Traction is farmer friendly

My overall experience with Traction has a been a good one. They are very open to changes that I have suggested and have tried to implement them rather quickly.

Pros:

I like that you can access multiple entities with one log in and that you can access it and get up to date information from anywhere. Also being able to scan in and store copies of anything you want to attach to a transaction for future reference is great and saves on filing storage.

Cons:

There are some reports that do need a little more work on what information they compile when there are multiple entities but the information does not always need to be added together.

Reasons for switching to Traction Ag

We had FBS Systems, it was an older program and it was not a cloud based system and it was difficult for me as the accountant to keep track when the owners and I were both making entries on separate computers and needed to share the information with each other and stay up to date. Also having the capabilities of storing copies of paperwork within the program is great when you need to research and not have to dig through filing from prior months or years.

Pros:

The most impactful features is the ability to have a financial management software that also can be used for the cash accounting as well. Traction was easy to set up and start. Integration into our business has been seamless so far .

Cons:

It doesn't really feel like its complete yet. Features are still coming into it which can make it difficult sometimes to get the results we need currently.

Traction makes managing multiple farm entities easier!

We’ve mainly been using the accounting features and are very satisfied with how it is designed for farmers like us. Although it’s not a limitation of the system, we haven’t yet explored other features like field operations and inventory management. The system offers a lot of functionality, so it really depends on your specific needs. I highly recommend it to others!

I love how Traction Ag is accessible online, allowing me to use it anywhere, anytime. It’s incredibly simple and straightforward for handling accounting tasks and keeping the books organized. I also appreciate the ease of managing multiple entities, as I can quickly choose the specific information I need on a report. When reconciling my ledger, I can synchronize all my systems with the bank with a single click, or select which ones to update individually. It's intuitive, efficient, and easy to work with.

Cons:

It does take some time setting up each entity and the chart of accounts for each, but the same could be said with probably any accounting program. Their support team has been great getting my questions answered.

Reasons for switching to Traction Ag

We actually swithched from Farmworks, but it wasn't listed as an option. Once they were bought out they became less user friendly and harder to communicate with company. I have used quickbooks for other non-farming entities. I much prefer traction as it is way more user friendly, accessible and so easy to work with the traction team.

Traction is GREAT

I have had a very good experience with Traction, as it is now my all-in-one place for all things finance on my farming operation.

I think that some parts of it, such as its Field Ops section could use an update and improvements on user friendliness.

Traction improves our Farm's Success

I have been very pleased with Traction Ag and how they specialize in agriculture. In addition, their customer service is excellent. Any issues or questions are always responded to in a very timely manner and their team is so pleasant to talk to.

I really like how Traction provides the tools necessary to capture field profitability. I can also easily look at my income and expense, and after reconciling my accounts from month to month, I am able to see my income expenses, catagorized into agriculture specific catagories.

Cons:

The only issue I have with traction is finding the time to import all of my field records into the basic operations.

Awesome Farm Accounting Software

The ability to enter transactions into different entities all in the same place is a huge timesaver and having all of the entities financial information together to give an overall picture of the entire operation is a HUGE asset! These two pieces alone were enough to justify making a switch but there are so many more benefits to using Traction! The knowledge base that they bring to the product is tremendous and they have multiple support options to help you with any problem or question you might have. Agriculture has its own unique rules and requirements when it comes to accounting and record-keeping and having a product like Traction that helps me keep track of all of it is a tremendous benefit to my farming operation!

Pros:

The product is easy to setup and use--much more so than other farm accounting packages I have used. You can be up and running with a few simple steps. The ability to run multiple entities at the same time and have all of the information available either separately or together is a great feature!! Having all the information together in one place makes it much easier to analyze and make business decisions. And the ability to tie your banking information directly to your records is a great time saver for those wanting that option. I appreciate, however, that Traction also has the capability to enter your transactions manually. Having options is what makes a GREAT product!!!

Cons:

Because the software is new, there are still a few features that I am waiting on to be added. Once the land, equipment, supplies and field record-keeping pieces become available it will be a full service Farm Software package. Not having these pieces right away just keeps me from entering some of my transactions which have occurred.

Reasons for choosing Traction Ag

Granular does not have an accounting component and they kept pushing me to simply use QuickBooks. I like having both an accounting component and a field record-keeping component in one package plus the added benefits this gives you in analyzing information and decision-making. Additionally, Granular was much higher in cost for half of the product. Probably the more important deciding factor was the industry experience that Traction brings to the product. Even though it is a new start up, they understand what is needed in a farming software package and are willing to continue to expand the software's capability to meet the needs of the farmer.

Reasons for switching to Traction Ag

I have used the FarmWorks product for 20 years. Unfortunately when Trimble purchased FarmWorks their focus on supporting FarmWorks diminished. Their technical help and support became harder to get as they shut down their Discussion Boards and lost some of their representatives along with the long-time knowledge that they had of the product. Then they released an online version of their product which they re-designed three times and it never did really work. It was unfortunate as well as frustrating to see the decline in the support as well as the product.

Traction - Finally, Farm Software that does both Accounting and Operation Management!

In short I want to understand and have the details of my finances and operations at my fingertips and Traction is the only software that we have found that does both. I spent the last 2 years searching for a platform that does this and it does not exist anywhere but here. Other software's do one or the other or if they do both they use a slim version of the finances which doesn't help me accomplish the goals I need for my business.

The best part of Traction so far has been the Accounting Platform, and most importantly the ability to automatically pull in all of my transactions from my various accounts! Once you have your chart of accounts customized to your operation (which took less than a day to accomplish) its as simple as a few clicks to have all my accounting organized. Taxes and my balance sheet next year will be as easy as hitting "print". Next, the mapping part of operations is also very user friendly. I imported my maps from my old software in a matter of minutes and then updated them using the built in tools. It only took me a minute to learn how to use the tools and I didn't even watch a tutorial video. Onboarding with Traction is as simple as three easy steps and is very user friendly, especially for a new user! Tractions Customer Support has been second to none! If I have a question I can likely find the answer and a video explaining it in the Knowledge Center. If I can't find it there the customer support team is only a chat away and very quick to respond.

Cons:

The operations side is not finished yet, but in the initial release of the operations there is already great functionality, but more is needed to make it better and I believe they are going to deliver that in time.

Reasons for choosing Traction Ag

All of the options we looked at were close to what we wanted in terms of accounting and operational functionality but none do both as well as Traction does. Traction also is a more affordable option than the others we looked at, and delivers the best ROI.

Farm Works Accounting was fantastic, however we have moved forward in how we need the delivery of our platform. 20 years ago, desktop software was the way to go. Today and moving into the future, a cloud based platform is essential to make the user experience the best that it can be.

Traction Ag exceeds my expectations

I am extremely pleased with Traction and their staff. Software updates come every month. I wish I had this tool thirty years ago. My kids are in better hands because they are taking the helm and we share the Traction account together. They are not lost in financials; no blank stares here.

Likes: Connects with my bank and business cards which saves lots of time; the income/expense transactions are already generated when I login. I assign the transaction where it needs to be; less chance of entry errors. Tax reporting for1099 rents and expenses are a breeze; I save time and money doing the 1099s myself. I like the reports because they are laid out like my FINPACKs are and easy for me to understand on the Schedule F, Income Statement and Balance Sheet. These reports are on the main page when I login, where I can click on the dollar amount in any account and it takes me right to the transaction where it can viewed or edited. I have improved in my accuracy and understanding of where we are financially in our farm op . I can send my reports to my FBM instructor, my CPA and my banker or invite them into my work if I want/and take away the permission when I want. I am way better in managing our farm because I am up to date pretty fast once I login. My tractor and combine records are loaded into Traction, so I have my records and harvest inventory there. When crop sales come into the bank, I assign the crop to the check and my inventory goes down to reflect my remaining commodity. Likewise, when an expense comes in from checking or business cards, I can assign that to the commodity giving me a cost per bushel or acre. I can also make invoices to send or print. I have three separate enterprises that I track; they can be totally separate or I can bring them together. The support has been top-notch with fast call backs and personal meetings with the Traction staff. The list of likes goes on.

Cons:

Least Liked. This list is small. Some minor things things would be scrolling up or down accounts and the program not bringing me back to the previous scroll. I have not used the payroll portion yet.
