Keybase 2026: Benefits, Features & Pricing

What I like the most about Keybase is the end-to-end encryption. It is definitely a critical feature every chat app must respect! I firstly found this app on the Zoom App Marketplace and I got rapidly convinced by its features: the ease of file sharing, the teams I can join and create and even the crypto wallet available on this app! I'm really glad I found this app and I can easily recommend it.

If I had to point any negative characteristic about Keybase, it would be the layout of the app. I would like to see a different User Interface (UI) more intuitive and user-friendly. Despite of that, I don't have any other commentary on this software, since I never had any bad experience with it, neither did I need to contact its support team.

It doesn't require extensive onboarding, so it's easy to set it up for new employees. It's quite easy to browse the chat history and find attachments that were shared. This point might be dubious, but it's sometimes useful to have access to the entire chat history, ever prior to joining them, in order to find relevant information.

This app can be quite buggy and was even nicknamed "abandonware" at our company at some point. Once I updated the system on my Mac, and Keybase stopped supporting the files that were stored in it for extra security, so we had to store them locally instead. I don't like that it often gets laggy and unresponsive, especially on mobile, where it often goes to black screen when you switch between different apps, and then you have to refresh it.

For some people this platform can be useful for using in that environment, but isn't great for everything and there are better option out there

Keybase is an all in one place for team collaboration similar to Slack, cloud storage with up to 250GB of free space, a git version control system and a cryptocurrency wallet (stellar lumens) all with the power of 256-bit encryption technology. This means anything that Keybase holds is nearly impossible to decrypt (even if the servers are hacked). You can also prove your social media identity using Keybase (not account verification). The chat feature is best if you are concerned about the security of your messages especially if you want to manage a team. You can also create sub-teams and channels like in slack. The cloud storage falls under three category, public files - which is publicly visible, private files - which we can use to store files privately and finally team files - visible to a group of people who are members of a team created by us. The storage is not expandable as of now, but the company is planning to introduce purchasable storage soon. Unlike other git repository hosting services, Keybase' git is fully encrypted which makes it more secure. Keybase also comes with an integrated Stellar lumens cryptocurrency wallet through which we can also send other popular cryptocurrencies. They also have a really good documentation. The way they demonstrate their features is really cool. Another cool feature is that we can also host simple website in the public folder. The website could be accessed under yourusername.keybase.pub domain name.

It could be a really strange application for those who are not aware of cryptography and encryption technologies. Keybase seems a bit intimidating at first. It takes some time to get used to the features and functionalities. You may find it difficult to find your contacts on Keybase due to the same reasons. Also sometimes the application seems to slow down a bit when encrypting big files.

This software easily replaces other software like Viber or Skype when it comes to text. It has encryption, it has reliable servers, and I can text with ease.

Emojis look worse than in other texting software.

Keybase was the first tool I learned that made truly encrypted communication as easy as ABC. It has plenty of cool features for security-aware users and organizations. I have never used Keybase in a team; for me, it felt like Slack but with more security and more openness. It's even more, it includes secure file sharing and seamless integration with the local filesystem, just like major cloud apps.

The acquisition by Zoom. Now there's no fuss, it seems even as a dead project. Even their blog's last post is about the Zoom+Keybase arrangement, and it was in 2020. From the very beginning, the community was worried, and nothing was made to ensure that Keybase will stay with us. Well, it's still there, with updates, but I can't say how long we can expect its existence.

This software is very useful to most of people to connect and communicate. In everywhere they most trust zoom to share because of security.

This software has some little cons like regularly asking updates it's took some capacity to update.

The platform is easy to use and offers a wide range of features, including screen sharing and recording. The encryption used by Keybase ensures that all communications are private and secure.

I've been using Zoom Keybase for several months now and have had no issues with it,

a very important feature is the timing of keeping the message secret, easy to use product and self explanatory tools, integration with other apps

I think it could have more integration with more applications, improve the sharing of larger files, there is a little difficulty in terms of business
