My go-to solution when building eCommerce

    4

It’s my go-to when building eCommerce websites because its flexibility. Although it requieres experience, it lets you set up almost every type of business that wants online payments. It can be catering services, an organization with member discount, monthly subscription style of service, traffic school, or normal physical product eCommerce website. It’s helpful when the website has very specific requirements.

    Pros:
When working with woocommerce, there is a lot of flexibility on what you what t your website to be. Whether you are selling virtual or physical products, it’s the best solution for building eCommerce with Wordpress. There is a lot of extra plugins that give great flexibility in all the needs you might encounter depending on the type of business or eCommerce you have.
    Cons:
It’s not a beginners system. You need to understand how to set it up correctly as there is room to a lot of confusion, specially when it comes to shipping, product variables, payment methods. The plugin does not give all solutions in one, and you need to have experience in setting up the correct way.

    Reasons for switching to WooCommerce

There is much more flexibility for the business needs and the website loading speed is a huge difference. Wordpress/woocommerce loading speed is better and can be fixed. With wix you need to hire someone on their support team to fix loading speed. Also, woocommerce is a free solution. No monthly or yearly costs.

Woocommerce allows even the smallest of shops to push their products across the internet.
    Cons:
It can rarely be used "out of the box". It takes a lot to set up and isn't for unknowledgeable users. But then, I'm happy to set it up for our clients which means all they need to do is edit their inventory or add new products.

Powerful Customization when Coupled with Konio WordPress Theme

    5

The only ecommerce platform I use anymore coupled with the Konio WordPress theme, especially when building stores that need custom functionality. The platform’s flexibility is its biggest strength — you can shape your store exactly how you want it, and the WordPress ecosystem gives you endless options for design and features. It’s powerful, scalable, and ideal for developers or store owners who want full control.

    Pros:
The biggest advantage of WooCommerce is its flexibility. Because it runs on WordPress, you can customize nearly every part of your store — from design to functionality — using tightly integrated themes such as KonioWP.
    Cons:
WooCommerce can become complex and plugin‑heavy as your store grows unless you're familiar with the ins and outs of WooCommerce.

Very flexible and easy to use

    5

It has been great. I have been working with WooCommerce for over 10 years. I started using it in school (ICT education), my job and now for my own webshops. I like that fact that for everything there is an additional plugin created by themselves, or 3rd parties.

    Cons:
The fact that some features are not standard and you need to buy plugins in order to get these specific features.

    Reasons for switching to WooCommerce

Because of integrations. We wanted to connect our prestashop to channeldock which wasn't possible at that time. This was like the 5/6th time we couldn't integrate with external softwares so we had to switch.

Amazing value with endless customisation and a wonderful community

    4

WooCommerce is a great platform overall with tons of plugins, integrations and an amazing API. Often, it is thought of as an option for smaller webshops, however, we have managed to scale up to 100,000+ products. This does mean a lot of customisation, architectural service separation and a lot. of API usage but it shows that WooCommerce is more than capable of scaling.

    Pros:
WooCommerce is a great platform with tons of plugins, integrations and an amazing API. As well as this, it is completely free to use and customise which, considering the vast features, is unbelievably good value compared to other eCommerce platforms. Lastly, the community and support are second to none.
    Cons:
When scaling a more complex build, WooCommerce can require a lot of customisation and at times can be buggy. Also, the use of the WP database structure serverly limited performance, though much of this is being addressed with the HPOS update WooCommerce are doing.

    Reasons for choosing WooCommerce

    Cost, developer community/knowledge and features.

    Reasons for switching to WooCommerce

Magento is extremely complex to maintain and has constant issues.

Thousands of products (or) just a couple, Woocommerce got your covered

    5

Woocommerce and I go a long way! I have seen it grown for many years. In comparison to Magento and others, Woocommerce is the best. Some of the other open source products break things after updates and one would have to rush to fix everything but Woocommerce is stable for the most part. Updates rarely break things if you have considered stable plugins and eco system. For a business, at the end of the day, they want their store up and running with lots of orders incoming. Woocommerce delivers that!

    Pros:
I like the fact that it is open source and how it let's developers customise the product to any extent. With WordPress as a core, actions and filters, it can be customised to any business needs. I've worked with tens of businesses that have massive product catalogue and it never lets me down.
    Cons:
Woocommerce has the biggest market share in the world. Despite that, it lacks a basic native feature of inventory logging. While there are plugins available but this should have been shipped by Woocommerce team themselves. After all, native feature get support like no others.

    Reasons for choosing WooCommerce

Ability to control and customise. While others provide a great service for some use cases, with the limitations, it won't work for all the use cases.
