Lessonspace is a collaborative whiteboard tool that allows educators to teach visually on an infinite shared canvas with subject-specific tools to help students understand concepts. It comes with a built-in code editor and an equation editor, allowing students who are learning computer science or coding skills to practice those skills in an easy, visual way. Teachers can access resources directly inside the space and drop them onto the whiteboard, which saves them time and effort by not having to fumble around on their file systems looking for the right file.

RECOMMENDED CHILD FRIENDLY WHITEBOARD

Overall, I would recommend lessonspace as an adult/child friendly whiteboard facility that allows learning to take place within a safe, easy to follow environment.

Pros:

This has proved good value for money. It was easy to learn how to use it (and I have been using it within a tutoring app already so I was looking to find a whiteboard that was similar to that). The children adapt easily to using the tool bar with their stylus pen. I like the layout and ability to share different websites within the lesson.

Cons:

Sometimes my stylus pen stops working if I have to click on a pop up during a lesson but that might be a laptop issue rather than lessonspace one.

Reasons for switching to Lessonspace

I needed a more child friendly whiteboard and easier to use facilities.

I wouldn't change it for any other learning platform. I get to do everything I want with it and it's reliable.

Pros:

As an educator, I have found Lessonspace to be good value for money. I can share files and it has incredible chat and communication features; the emojis and the stickers certainly appeal to my learners and provide a fun learning environment. I can upload anything; the document and whiteboard tabs are engaging and super interactive.

Cons:

I cannot think of any negatives about it. Having said that, I have not used the breakout rooms just yet.

I was not happy with the ease of use on Zoom.

I really would like to see breakout room so that we can teach individuals in a small group whje requires without all students hearing the content. I really would like to see breakout room added as can't as possible so that we can teach without all students hearing the same content

Pros:

I still don't use the kessonnsoaxe admin much. Locking spaces for use was a nightmare sonomrases to see you have introduced a much required waiting room.

Cons:

Break out rooms have been promised for a long time where students can't see each other. Is this coming? I done like not having this option to teach kids individually but in a group. There is no reminder bell for 5 mins to go.

Indiana have time to change with a stage four family member but really like their reviews on the tutor for the lesson.

Decent enough (lacks intuitive features and low quality video/sound)

Overall, I was reluctant to switch from Zoom because it seems unnecessary and much less user-friendly; however, it's decent enough. I still prefer Zoom/g-meets because they are more intuitive and have more features.

Pros:

The fact that I can upload massive PDFs and make notations (vs. Zoom, in which the notations remain in place—almost like an annoying screen—despite scrolling down on the share-screen doc).

Cons:

The wonky text box tool that doesn't automatically "enter" but instead trails off-screen. Sound and video quality could be far better, as could the share-screen feature (major lag time). I wish I could pop out multiple screens at once, like the student's video and their shared screen.

I was forced to make the switch by my tutoring agency.

Overall great with some minor flaws

I have been using it for over a year now and it is my prefered space for quantitative teaching and demonstrations, though some tools can be improved such as the user of two screens for the teachers with different inputs and out puts

many tools for different forms of learning and student demographics, the integration of the library and co browser and screen share capabilities are great along with the equation tools

Cons:

the intense learning curve, the tech glitches and can make lesson hard to navigate, some of my students get repeatedly kicked out of the space by the program itself causing much time to be devoted to going over what already has been said. There needs a more laptop friendly way to draw with the track pad and improve its accuracy

Liking Lessonspace and its functionality

Its been great so far, I potentially think its the best combined classroom and meeting software that I have used.

Pros:

I like the fact that you integrate a well built virtual classroom together with the functionalities of something like zoom - I can use video and audio while having a whiteboard. This is something others like Bramble.io cannot achieve.

Cons:

I think the main thing that I dislike about lessonspace is the lack of notification if someone enters the classroom - this could be done via a desktop notification for ease of use. Also, allowing students to access only some tools like pen, rubber etc without using the select tool.

Overall, it's ok. The sessions freeze, and playing videos can be a hassle because it lags. Again, I don't experience lag or browser issues in zoom.

The teacher workspace has a lot of options to use for different subject teachers. I like the ability to upload a document and work from it.

Cons:

It crashes a lot throughout the session, more so than Zoom. It does not have the full capacity to work well in different browswers.

Learning how to be successful with Lessonscape

Pros:

Really simple to use, for me and for the student at home. All the tools are very easy to use and I can do all I want during the teaching period.

Cons:

I had difficulty to create my account and upgrade my account at the end of the trial period, but it's the only difficulty I had. I send an Email and I had help in a few days.

Great user interface overall. I like that the setup was easy for a new tutor and that all of my classes and students are all in one place.

Pros:

The setup for new students is easy. I do not have to create a new link for each session. I can reuse the same link and work from previous sessions are saved.

Cons:

Nothing to complain. I am unsure if I can join on multiple devices, but that would be a useful feature, especially since it is hard to draw with a trackpad as compared to an iPad.
