About SimpleMDM

SimpleMDM is a mobile device management solution designed to help businesses automate, manage and deploy updates, licenses, applications or installer packagers across Apple devices. Administrators can set up and enroll employees' personal devices via Apple configurator, email, weblink, SMS and more.

In order to ensure security across business data, SimpleMDM provides two-factor authentication, FileVault recovery, passcode-enabled data protection and app disabling, blocking or hiding option, among other functionality. It lets IT teams gain insights into assets' locations in real-time, configure global HTTP proxy and content filter, install applications without prompting permission notifications, block Apple ID and deploy iOS updates. Additionally, managers can wipe or forcefully unlock devices and disable access in case of a policy breach.

SimpleMDM provides an API, which lets developers integrate the system with several third-party applications including One Login and Munki. Pricing is available on monthly and yearly subscriptions and support is extended via online chat, knowledgebase and forum.

Pros:
Sound library of features and they appear to continually improve the app. Once I got the hang of the app it seems to be quite solid.
Cons:
Support only available via "written word". When evaluating the product even after reading what I could, I was hoping to speak to someone that would support, deny or contribute to my perception and experience with other MDM's that I have tried. Not possible as screen share or phone support is not possible.

SimpleMDM makes managing macs a breeze

SimpleMDM cut down our deployment times from like an hour to basically nothing. Open the box, login, you're done. With everyone moving to remote work, this stuff has been critical for letting us stay on top of managing our fleet.

Pros:
I loved the fact it basically provides all of the functionality of a JAMF setup without me having to own and manage a server.
Cons:
The UI can be confusing at times. More contextual help would be nice.

Reasons for choosing SimpleMDM

We use Intune for windows, but it's slow and more expensive. I didn't want to deal with deploying and owning a JAMF server, so SimpleMDM was a no-brainer.

Pros:
I like being able to set up devices remotely since we have employees across multiple states.
Cons:
We can't use the 'FindMy' app with SimpleMDM on the device and the tracking feature does not work and update when I try to refresh location.

Pros:
Ease of use, very easy to deploy apps, allows us to wipe the devices remotely if they get lost and just a dream to set up and work with.
Cons:
Location services cannot be enabled by the mdm but I think this is an Apple issue not something that SompleMDM can enforce.

It just works

5

We're an outsourced US-based outsourced IT firm with clients in the medical space. I initially used Meraki to manage one of our clients but had all sorts of problems. Apps not deploying when they should, configurations not working, and devices that stopped responding after about a month. When we needed MDM for two other customers, I decided to try SimpleMDM instead. I had zero problems with our deployment and was happy to find that they had more functionality than Meraki. Sure, Meraki had some document management feature called backpack, but it was too few features to even be suitable for document needs and we had to use Dropbox anyway. I like SimpleMDM because the price is competitive, it just works and I feel that I'm using the best in breed product in the MDM space. Just make sure you don't need to support Android. They just do Apple at the moment (and do it well)!

Pros:
The ease of use of setting phones and pads up with the software. Easy way to control devices, push out apps or remove along with preventing users to users to download un-needing apps.
Cons:
More options needed to prevent users from using their devices as hotspots. The apps purchased from Apple VPP have been increasingly long in showing-up in available apps to push to devices.

Vendor Response

Hi Greg- Thanks for your feedback! Please contact our support channel for help with any app delays you are seeing. It may be an iOS issue that we can help with.
