### Most mentioned pros

- I like the donor management platform component of the software, which allows me to track pledges, donations, and touchpoint communications with donors and partners.
- It's also very useful for managing, tracking and reporting on donor management, fundraising events and through direct campaigns or peer to peer on Neon Fundraise.
- Neon is a very good and useful CRM for all of the use cases our non-profit needs, it's unusual to get a system that manages memberships, events, fundraising, email campaigns etc.

### Most mentioned cons

- I am also disappointed that there is no way to import relationships - our organization is a youth organization dating back over 60 years, so we have multiple generations of accounts and have to manually build the relationships (other than households).
- This causes difficulty for the members (when they login to the "wrong" account, they do not have an active membership), as well as obfuscating how long someone has been a member, as they might renew on the Individual account one year and the Company account the next, so complete membership records are divided between two accounts.
- Our previous systems (read: random spreadsheets with different owners) could not keep up with the new demand so we started exploring CRM options.

### Neon One CRM is powerful, intuitive and reasonably priced for small nonprofits

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Paul L.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: E-Learning
- Company size: Self-Employed
- Product usage: Used weekly for less than 6 months

Really happy with it so far for the above three reasons, and excited to continue implementing (we're still in our first 6 months with Neon One).

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Three things. First and foremost, Neon One's price model sets it apart from all the other CRMs we looked into, especially unlimited contacts and emails. Most CRM companies charge increasing rates as we add more contacts or send more emails, yet we're still a small nonprofit with a tiny budget, so Neon One's price model works best for us. Second, Neon One is powerful (lots of capabilities) and yet also quite intuitive, so we don't need to hire consultants to figure out how to use it. Third, as we're learning, as we implement Neon One CRM, their email support is very responsive, and helpful.

#### Cons

My only quibble is I wish Neon One's price structure/tiers weren't regressive. That is, as a small nonprofit with a tiny budget, we pay more for Neon One -- as a percentage of our budget -- than nonprofits with larger budgets. The price is reasonable, but nonetheless regressive.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Price model, particularly unlimited contacts and email sends.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

Better price model -- Aplos charged more and more as we added more contacts.

### All-in-one fundraising, volunteer, event management and communcation for non-profits!

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Tiffany C.

My overall experience with Neon CRM has been really good. The user interface is easy to understand, which makes administration a breeze. It has saved our organization so much time to have our customer and donor information all in one place; with the ability to see their activity, be able to easily communicate and segment our communications as well as plan events.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I most like the integration of fundraising, event management, volunteer management and email marketing all on the same platform.

#### Cons

Well, I least liked the lack of some features like forms and survey forms being integrated but that has recently been updated.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

Salesforce proved to be too big and bulky for our small non-profit and did not provide the event and donor management piece that we needed.

### Gets the job done

I used NeonCRM daily to manage memberships, events, and programming for a small nonprofit.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

NeonCRM has a decent amount of tools for automating processes and you can store most of the information you'll need about members/clients. If you/your company don't want to do webdesign, they'll set up a website for you. Kind of a one-stop shop. The Neon forum has good information for finding workarounds when you have issues.

#### Cons

NeonCRM's branding is that they're building software for nonprofits since they come from a nonprofit background. Cool idea, but I'd rather use a CRM built by software engineers. There is no easy way to integrate Neon events with a calendar on a webpage. The default is a list of events in chronological order. If you have a lot of events, repeat events, or events with different categories or audiences, this is not a good way to display the information. My team had to custom code a calendar widget that integrates with NeonCRM. The UI is not intuitive, which is fairly typical for CRM software but given that NeonCRM was built so much more recently than other major players in the CRM landscape, I expect a bit more. It is clunky. After the initial setup and launch, it felt like Neon wanted nothing to do with us. Their customer service approach is designed to limit how much you contact them and make it feel costly. I was not on the team that chose NeonCRM, but I'd have strongly considered a competing CRM like WildApricot or even Salesforce.

There were some clunky and not intuitive actions with Neon CRM, especially with ticketing and event set up. Other platforms out there are far more simpler than what we were using.

I loved that everything was in the same dashboard with no clicking in and out of things to make them work or talk to each other.

I had no qualms, but out bookkeeper needed better fund accounting software. This is what pulled us out of the CRM. Our website is the only thing will hosted there.

### Easy reporting & great customer support

So far it has been good. Customer support has been extremely helpful when we needed it, and the functionality of the CRM is really good. Reporting is a breeze - with many built-in reports and the ability to simply create new.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It's more affordable than what we were using, and it's able to handle our accounts, donations and events all in one place. I also appreciate the ability to better steward our donors, and the workflows available (our last CRM only allowed 2 workflows without an upgrade and more $$)

#### Cons

The data conversion was a challenge - we included the standard conversion, but it only allowed us to bring over 6 files - the way our former CRM exported things was MUCH more than 6 files, so we had to choose. I am also disappointed that there is no way to import relationships - our organization is a youth organization dating back over 60 years, so we have multiple generations of accounts and have to manually build the relationships (other than households).

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Neon has better functionality than LGL to meet our needs, and is priced much better thank CueBox.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

We had been in an introductory pricing package that was about to expire. If we kept the features we had, we would have been priced out - we would have had to strip down the system to keep it affordable.

#### Vendor response

We’re so happy that our affordable pricing and easy reporting help you steward your donors and manage your events all in one spot. We truly appreciate your feedback about the conversion process and relationship imports, as these details help us find ways to better support organizations with unique legacy data like yours. We love being your partner as you make those personal connections that drive growth for your community!

Our organization has experienced rapid growth in the last two years. Our previous systems (read: random spreadsheets with different owners) could not keep up with the new demand so we started exploring CRM options. After reviewing about a dozen CRMs, Neon came out on top. No CRM is perfect but Neon is constantly working to improve their platform. Their team is always quick and courteous to respond when I have a question or encounter an issue. We're happy with our choice!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The user interface is easy to navigate, especially if you already know what you’re looking for. Overall, onboarding has been relatively straightforward for our team, and we were able to get started without much trouble. It would be helpful if their were more information buttons next to fields that link to how-to articles in case a user doesn't understand that field's purpose. It would save the time of looking for articles.

#### Cons

I wish I could send one-time invoices. Our members request invoices for dues payments or other miscellaneous items and I'm forced to use Stripe.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Neon was affordable, well-established, recommended by colleagues, and ultimately the best tool we found to manage organizations as members.

#### Vendor response

It's wonderful to hear that Neon One is helping your team replace spreadsheets with a system that actually keeps you organized during this season of rapid growth. We love that you found our interface easy to navigate, and I will be sure to share your suggestion about adding more context to reporting fields with our Product team. Regarding your feedback on one-time invoices, our team is always looking for ways to improve our platform’s core business functions, and we appreciate you helping us pinpoint exactly where we can make your day easier. Thanks for being a part of the Neon One community!

Excellent! The support we receive is quick efficient. The product is great and always updating with new tools.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I like the ease of the product. From the first day we started to now there has not been a time when it has been frustrating.

#### Cons

No mass batching in Neon. We do utilize the mass upload via sheet, but it would be nice to have something built into Neon like Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT. One other minor thing is not having an important field option for a query to get a correct data pull.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Neon had most of the features that we were looking for. Cost also played a factor.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

Cost and we wanted something more in align to our local organization's goals.

#### Vendor response

We are delighted that you’ve found Neon One easy to navigate since day one and that our support team has been such a reliable resource for you. It’s wonderful to know we’re helping your local organization meet its goals while staying within your budget. We appreciate your specific feedback regarding built-in mass batching and query field options, as these insights are exactly what we use to guide our continuous product updates.

### Strong Constituent/Donor Management and Fundraising Tools, but Missing a Mobile App

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Kate C.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Non-Profit Organization Management
- Company size: 2-10 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 12 months

We use Neon CRM to manage donor relationships, track engagement, and support our fundraising campaigns. Once the system is set up, the automation and reporting features make it a powerful tool for nonprofit operations. The platform also includes strong security and permission settings through different user accounts, which helps protect sensitive donor information. That said, the initial setup required a significant investment of time for our organization. While the system provides many helpful features and solid value for money, the lack of a mobile app and challenges with duplicate management remain notable drawbacks. Overall, I would rate my experience with Neon CRM around a 7 out of 10.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Neon CRM has strong tools for donor management and organizing supporter information. The fundraising campaign features are particularly helpful because you can build larger campaigns and structure them with smaller subcampaigns underneath them. This makes it easier to set fundraising goals and track progress over time. The workflow automation is another highlight. It allows me to set notifications, such as reminders when installments might be expected, and to automatically place contacts into groups based on actions like attending events. This helps keep engagement organized without constant manual tracking. I also appreciate that the platform includes email campaign tools and customizable user accounts, which allow different team members to access and manage data appropriately. Overall, the platform provides good value for money considering the range of features available for nonprofits. It also has great security of data and customer support is timely.

#### Cons

The duplicate management tools could definitely be improved. In practice, the system sometimes flags contacts as duplicates simply because they share an address, such as people who work at the same organization. At the same time, it occasionally misses actual duplicates. It can also be frustrating that certain imports cannot be deleted once they are uploaded. Another major limitation is the lack of a reliable mobile app, which makes it difficult to manage donor information or check updates when away from a computer. Improvements in customer support documentation or troubleshooting around duplicate management would also be helpful.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Seemed to have a better user and experience and had more of the reporting and communications features we were looking for.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for sharing how our workflow automation helps keep your engagement organized! We hear your feedback on duplicate management—especially regarding shared addresses—and are actively working to improve our documentation to better address those specific troubleshooting scenarios. Please contact our support team so they can help you get your scans set up to minimize those false positives and ensure your data stays accurate.

### Overall, we are glad that we switched to Neon CRM

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Cathy H.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Non-Profit Organization Management
- Company size: 2-10 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: February 2026
- Review source details: This reviewer was invited by the software vendor to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.

Our experience has been overall positive. It was very essential for my organization to hire a consultant to help us transition over to Neon since we have no internal IT capacity and it's hard to absorb the work of a member database transition while also still doing the regular work that is required. We worked with a Neon partner, Back Office Thinking, and they have been terrific.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I like Neon CRM's user interface. It is clean and intuitive for routine transactions. The monthly cost for my nonprofit organization is affordable and I love that it has integrated event management and email capability. We use it primarily for our membership database. We don't currently do a lot of fundraising campaigns, but I like that we have that capacity should we choose to use it.

#### Cons

There are a few things that I find inexplicable, such as the individuals within an organization, called a company in Neon, being in alphabetical order by first name (with no option for me to decide how I want them displayed). In that same area, the company contacts default view is all, rather than current. I would love to set the default to current and still be able to see former contacts at my option. Similarly, I would like to choose how many display as a default setting. These things seem small but cumulatively cost me time. On a separate note, I wish the credit card processing fees were lower.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

We relied on our consultant's evaluation of our needs, and the price was comparable to what we were paying for data hosting.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

Our version of Civi CRM was not properly customized for us and was not connected to anything. We were using it as an electronic filing cabinet and it was just a 3rd or 4th place to enter data. We were also paying too much for someone to just host our data.

#### Vendor response

Hi there! We are so glad to hear that Neon One's clean interface and integrated event management are providing an affordable, all-in-one solution for your membership database. It’s also wonderful to know that our partners at Back Office Thinking provided such a smooth transition for your team! We truly appreciate the feedback regarding default views and sorting preferences for company contacts; we understand how those extra clicks can add up, and we're sharing these details with our product team to help improve your daily workflow. Thank you for helping us make the platform more efficient for busy nonprofits like yours.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Neon CRM is very user-friendly. It has an intuitive interface that makes it easy for staff members to navigate without needing extensive training. This helps prevent data entry errors. I also like how Neon provides monthly webinars on product releases and updates to their platform. These webinars help us stay informed about new features, improvements, and best practices. It also shows that Neon is continuously improving its service and offerings. And finally, I like how Neon allows you to record not only donations, but store orders and grants. It makes managing these areas much more efficient and centralized.

#### Cons

I don't love Neon's donation forms because I wish they were more customizable. I also wish there were more customization options available for emails sent directly from the platform. While there are customization options available, I feel like both areas would benefit from more options.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

I'm not sure. This was before I joined the organization. However, I know that the team looked at various options.

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

We switched from Kindful, but that wasn't an available option. The change was implemented before I joined the organization, so I'm not sure why we switched.

The people who work there have been very helpful and the cost was comparable to the other program we were using. It offers so much more that I feel we came out ahead.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

So far the customer support and flexibility to build the exact product that we need have been fantastic. The value for the money is also good, after the base price they let you build a product that works for what you need. The donor management has been far superior to what were using. So many options to track and I love that you can also tract Unrestricted and Restricted grants. The User interface can be confusing but they have a large database filled with video and written instructions. It takes a while to learn the program but the options for tracking and developing reports to give you what you need are endless.

#### Cons

There isn't much I didn't like, the fact that it can track so much information and do so much with your donor database make it more difficult to use. However, it is worth the time and training because it offers so much in return

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Neon cost less than the others and seemed to offer most of the same options

#### Reasons for switching to Neon CRM

We weren't receiving our payouts in a timely manner

NEON CRM has been a blessing to our organization. We have been able to maintain and grow our membership. The option to auto-renew was a gamechanger in our reporting numbers.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Neon CRM could handle donor, member and event management easily. Our organization was using Excel sheets before this implementation. I searched for the best product based on my years of using other CRM's in different jobs and grateful I landed here. We also paid the extra for tech support which was needed because I don't have the time to search knowledge bases for an answer, I need it done now.

#### Cons

The reporting has so many bells and whistles it's tough to figure out. I struggle with the if/then/= functionalities to get my desired outcome in reports.

#### Reasons for choosing Neon CRM

Customer support was critical as I am really the only one on our 2-person team that uses it.

#### Vendor response

Hi there, thanks so much for your feedback and for trusting Neon CRM to help your organization grow! We're so glad to hear that the platform, especially features like auto-renew, has been a blessing and a game changer for your team. We understand that the reporting features can be a lot to navigate. The bells and whistles can certainly make it tough to figure out, and we appreciate you pointing out the difficulty with the "if/then/=" functionalities. We know that "Boolean" searching can be a bit hard to wrap your head around, which is why we're exploring user experience optimizations for a more natural language approach. We appreciate your patience as we work to make our reporting more intuitive and user-friendly for everyone.

Definitely a positive experience with the company - I think they are doing a great thing making a CRM affordable for small nonprofits and they are very responsive. A moderate experience with the tool itself - it does A LOT which is amazing but it has its issues.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Neon CRM has everything all in one place! You can manage donations, memberships, pledges, volunteers, merchandise, email campaigns, text messaging, and events all in one platform which helps keep constituent profiles up to date and reduces import/export slog or time to add information to profiles. They also have a very helpful and responsive team and they listen to feedback which is great.

#### Cons

The menu structures are convoluted and Neon CRM lacks some functionality that other more focused donation management softwares (like Blackbaud) have available. These deficits span from the more strategic functionalities like built-in donor intelligence tools to help you assess capacity-to-give and accounting tools, to practical everyday functionality like an inability to add matched company gifts to existing constituent pledges or limitations with reports and forms. Neon is kind of a jack-of-all-trades so it makes sense it's not going to have the same depth as focused tools. BUT it is very affordable tool that does a lot if you are a small nonprofit.

#### Vendor response

It's so wonderful to hear that having everything in one place helps you ditch the import/export slog and keep your constituent profiles up to date! We appreciate your feedback about matching gifts and menu navigation, as we’re always looking for ways to streamline the personal connections that drive your growth. Your insights are a gift that helps us better support the nonprofits we are so proud to serve!

I use NEON daily. It has been a key tool in helping us manage our donors and provide clear data that allows us to make better decisions.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

NEON has been great in allowing us to manage both large donors and smaller gifts. We can seamlessly sync our data with other platforms such as Constant Contact and Double the Donation, as well as our NEON-based website and donation pages. Finally, the customer service is outstanding. It's quick with clear guidance.

#### Cons

Maybe there are too many options. It took a while, with the help of customer service, to identify which options are best for our Foundation and how to use them effectively.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for being such a dedicated daily user! We’re so glad to hear that Neon is helping you manage donors and providing the clear data you need to make better strategic decisions. While we’re happy our "outstanding" customer service helped you navigate our various features, we understand that having so many options can feel overwhelming at first. We are actively working on refining our onboarding and product modules to make identifying the best tools for your needs even faster and more intuitive.

My background is in technology and the entrance to using Neon One was fairly simple. They have good educational learning, and I like the features of events and an online storefront.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5

#### Pros

Neon One is a good product for a one-stop-shop. The feature that we use often is event management and the online shopping for members. These are two features that you don't usually find in other software platforms.

#### Cons

They have few resources for educational systems and managing alumni. You have to use another software to find alumni and then ask them to join the Neon One CRM database, a bit clunky.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that Neon CRM serves as a good one-stop-shop and that you frequently use and enjoy our event management and online store features! We appreciate your feedback about identifying and managing school alumni, and would encourage you to share any specific feature suggestions at feedback.neonone.com so our product team can review your idea and other customers can vote to support it. We are constantly working on expanding our use cases and appreciate this insight into how we can better support educational organizations.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Cons

Currently, the only thing I would like to see improve is the volunteer portal. I am making it work for our small scale volunteer program, but automated reminder messages and application approval emails would be incredibly helpful to our organization.

Generally, I like Neon CRM a lot. I appreciate that they have a large team who is constantly working to build the product and sometimes wish they would focus more on UX than creating new features.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

The ease of tracking donor information and FY progress. I appreciate that it, in effect, one large interactive Rolodex.

#### Cons

I don't always have full confidence that all data is represented in the reports we created. The merge tool seems to miss a number of accounts. It feels that there should be a simpler way for smaller organizations to use it.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are pleased to hear that Neon CRM helps you easily track donor information and fiscal year progress. ### Not what we signed up for and it doesn't do what we want

I've been using Neon for 2 years for a smaller non-profit organization. I am a CPA with 20+ years of experience. Using this software isn't meant for a finance person...and I'm not really sure what kind of professional they had in mind when they developed this system.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

It is fairly easy to input new donations but that doesn't mean that the gifts entered aren't somehow lost afterward. There really isn't anything that I like about the system. We were lied to when we upgraded to the $210-ish/month level.

#### Cons

Almost everything. Data is randomly lost -- gifts that were entered a week ago are suddenly not found when I look for them. I inherited a database with multiple versions of what should be the same account (for instance one account is in one spouse name only, another in both names). We've tried to consolidate those accounts but it never seems to work. The automatic emails sent to donors when a gift is entered is a total joke. Evidently you need a degree in computer science or similar to change the automatic email. And switching between different email templates? Forget about it. Looking over years and years of notes from different employees trying to maintain our database and repeatedly the comment was "this system is clunky" and it seems the easiest way to get the work done is to do it manually, if this is the software that we have. We upgraded to a higher level of the software about a year ago (and paid a large lump sum when we did, plus the 250% higher fee). We spoke with representatives from Neon over the phone about this. We were told that we could cancel the subscription or return to the lower level. When we tried to do that, we were told that we would be cancelled as of 12/31/2025, which is 20 months after we were fooled into upgrading to "fix" our issues.
