Rich User Interface for your Web Apps

Overall experience is very fruitful as we have built lots of portals using Kendo UI . the team is very happy to work with this tool.

Pros:

1. Support for various popular frameworks starting from jQuery to Angular, React 2. Documentation is provided for each and every component along with the demo of usage of the component. 3. User Interface is very rich with large number of components. 4. Support team is working really hard to solve the queries.

Cons:

1. The documentation can be little bit difficult to understand for the first time but when you are using it you will find very useful. 2. Cost of the Kendo UI is comparatively high as compared to another UI alternatives.

The number of components is larger in Kendo UI. Also, it supports multiple frameworks.

Kendo UI is one of my foundational tools required for developing a buisness portal

It's one of my "must have" tools when developing a professional site.

Pros:

- The wide variety of components covers everything from capturing a date range to hosting your own web based Scheduling Calendar. - The tools are all high quality and are heavily used throughout the industry so you can rely on Kendo UI's longevity (i.e. it won't suddenly be left unsupported like so many open source alternatives). - All tools (including charts and reports) contain a consistent theme so developers can spend less time fiddling with CSS trying to make component A look like it belongs on the same page as component B. - The components help my company keep bad data from ever reaching our database by dealing with the problematic data on the client side (before it ever reaches the server). - The licensing allows a developer to install Kendo on all of the computers s/he uses for development. - Kendo works seamlessly with many different development tools such as Blazor, Bootstrap, .Net (Framework & Core) and others. More options are constantly being added.

Cons:

- The cost is high for a small consulting firm. - The learning curve can be a little steep for first time users but it quickly becomes second nature and I've found that new hires straight out of college caught on relatively fast when paired with a seasoned developer.

Reasons for switching to Kendo UI

Open source is a great thing but eventually most open source developers lose their momentum as working for free doesn't pay many bills. JQuery UI had many great UI elements but it also contained many bugs that were either not fixed or were fixed at a pace that wasn't workable for a professional site. We had to scramble to find JQuery UI plugins for things like a Grid control (which isn't offered in JQuery UI) and each additional plug increased the risk that we'd run into problems down the road as the plugin developers latched on other, projects (or family, job changes, etc.).

Great lightweight suite of tools

We mostly use the Rich Text editor and grid tools, but its great to know I have many options if I need them.

Pros:

Native integration into Progress Sitefinity CMS. Vast documentation and demos. Great support and community.

Cons:

Some features are lacking but overall they respond well to the community requests. Upgrades can be time consuming.

Kendo UI Review

Overall, Kendo UI (And the full Telerik product) rates very high for me. It's saved me much time with Projects I've developed, especially when starting new projects, it helped greatly getting them off the ground with speed and feature packed.

Pros:

There's a few things I appreciate this software for. The first being it's wide range of languages/frameworks that it supports. The second, and in my opinion the most appreciated was it's built-in features for each control in it's package. There were many times, where I had to custom create a lot of functionality that when I started using Kendo UI I was extremely impressed with how those custom features were already a basis in Kendo. Overall, Kendo UI's built in features for all of it's controls rates the best on my list.

Cons:

While this only applied when I first started using Kendo UI, it would be the documentation. I found it rather tedious to navigate the documentation, and find specific documentation for controls and their functions. Though as said, this was when I first started using it. It became much easier with prolonged use.

Reasons for switching to Kendo UI

While DevExpress was great, especially for Reporting, it started falling behind in terms of newer languages and technologies that were supported. This was a problem, as we embraced the newer technologies and as such required something that could keep with that need.

Kendo UI has many easy to use configurable components for web applications. Documentation contains many examples of use cases. Supports popular web frameworks like React, Angular, Vue and even jQuery. It speeds up web development a lot.

Cons:

Not all features are well documented. Sometimes it is confusing about what some options are for. Some advanced feature require some time to learn, like grid sorting and filtering.

Pros:

KendoUI makes it easy to quickly develop many applications using their blocks. Good support for multiple languages and platforms.

Cons:

Pretty expensive for a small startup. Many of the blocks are available for free online (which you may get what you pay for)

Telerik Suite

Personally, I was able to easily automate a basic AngualrJS app using Telerik tools. It takes a little while to get used to finding where to click and edit things but once you get the hang of it it works pretty well.
