About AGTEK Gradework

AGTEK's Gradework is a takeoff solution that streamlines the construction lifecycle from bidding through completion. The tool analyzes data from PDF, CAD or manual entry to create accurate bids and manage sites. It features 3D visualizations that help users divide projects into phases, extract volumes, detail strata and calculate sectional areas.

The system generates machine control models, allowing precise control of machinery including dozers, excavators and graders. Gradework processes drone imagery and point clouds to calculate stockpile volumes, over-excavation quantities and monitor earthwork progress.

The platform integrates with mobile applications for real-time information access in the field and exports data to various formats including estimating programs and Google Earth files.

Sufficient 4 Star Product

It has been sufficient for the work we do. workflow seems simple to follow and it generates takeoffs. Staff is excellent and that's the only reason this got 4 out of 5 stars. Lost a star because I don't like how they make new programs and charge more for them rather then upgrading the product people spent thousands on. It feels like a cash grab.

Agtek is very expensive, would like it if they could bring the price down a bit. I think that soon we could see a saturation of cheaper competitors with less overhead due to AI.

Cons:

It lacks AI capabilities, wondering if they plan on sharing AI plans. I hope that they release AI soon.

Drones to Models, AGTEK can do it all!

Agtek is our go to program for what we do on a daily basis. The ability to build projects that we are going to bid and the options that we then have to look at with said project are second to none. Multiple times, we have found things that have given us an edge when it came to bid day. On the model building side, the 3D viewer makes a world of difference as well, especially when dealing with CAD files that have issues; being able to see clearly and manipulate the 3D views to find and fix is essential. The addition of underground and being able to see the pipe runs in place and any conflicts makes a world of difference. Overall, a great program and company to work with, and always impressed by continued innovation that Agtek brings year over year.

Agtek Gradework is the total package for everything we do from drone work to estimating to model building. We have been using agtek software for 15+ years and will continue to do so. I came from a background with limited CAD experience, but through the vast amount of online videos and webinars, I was able to figure out how to do everything that we needed. If I could not find what I needed, customer support was second to none in helping me, every time and within minutes.

Cons:

Early on, (and in the end not the fault of the program) I ran into issues with the program crashing, but again through multiple discussions, customer support helped to solve the problem.

Overall, my experience with AGTEK Gradework has been wonderful. It is a program I truly enjoy using and rely on regularly for problem-solving and decision-making throughout the estimating and grading process. One of the things I like most about AGTEK Gradework is its ease of use once you are familiar with the workflow, along with the strong community and customer support behind the software. AGTEK offers responsive technical support and a knowledgeable user base, which makes troubleshooting and learning new features much more efficient. Having access to helpful resources, training, and experienced users adds significant value and confidence when working on complex grading and earthwork takeoffs.

Cons:

Occasionally, AGTEK Gradework can experience unexpected bugs that may result in temporary work loss. While this can be frustrating, the software generally allows for data recovery, and most issues can be resolved without permanent loss. Regular saving and backups help minimize the impact, but increased stability would further improve the overall experience.

Demo Plus Agtek Review

I have been working with Agtek since we were digitizing paper plans. The improvements to the program over the last 20 years has illustrated their commitment to continuing to improve a already great product. I also am always completely satisfied with the support team as they are very prompt with responses and solutions.

Pros:

Agtek allows us to be very efficient and accurate when performing take-offs. This results in better estimates, turned around on time, and able to provide illustrations to clients that help explain our inclusions and exclusions.

Cons:

Obviously, it's the cost. I do however think it is worth the investment, just it's always painful when a key needs to be added.

Experience and ease of use. Agtek focuses on being really good at one thing. Other software seems to pursue a "jack of all trades" mentality.

A Product that Works

I have used this product for nearly a decade now and they are continuing to grow and build on it, making changes for the better each day. Service in general is fast and coming from knowledgeable people. I enjoy this product.

AGTEK provides a clear picture of the project at each stage you build out and allows you to compare them comprehensively. On many occasions, clients have ben appreciative of being able to see the cut and fill on a 3D map. Creating those maps is quite intuitive, yet allows room for even a seasoned take off expert with opportunities to grow. Offsets and templates make generating detailed modules go smoothly.

Cons:

There are small nuances that arise when you try and push the program beyond it's typical scope; unable to have perimeters and report regions cross, and strata layers not showing fills.

Reasons for choosing AGTEK Gradework

It is cheaper and easier to use despite having less capabilities. Takeoffs can also be done easily from PDFs.

AGTEK Makes Earthwork Estimating Faster, More Accurate, and Less Painful

AGTEK Gradework has been the single most impactful tool in my estimating workflow. As a grading and earthwork estimator handling turnkey lump-sum site work across Southern California, I need software that I can trust with real money on the line — and AGTEK delivers that every single day.From the first time I built a surface and ran a cut/fill balance, I knew this was a tool built by people who understand what estimators actually need. It's not overcomplicated with features I'll never use, and it's not watered down to the point where I'm fighting workarounds on complex sites. It sits right in the sweet spot — powerful enough to handle a 90-acre phased mass grade, simple enough to knock out a quick pad site balance on bid day when time is tight.

Accuracy you can trust — The cut/fill calculations are dialed in. When my numbers go to the field, they hold up. That confidence is everything when you're bidding lump-sum work where there's no room to hide behind unit price adjustments. Speed on bid day — When plans drop and the bid is due in 48 hours, AGTEK lets me build surfaces and pull a site balance fast. What used to take a full day of hand calcs and cross-sections can be done in a fraction of the time without sacrificing quality. Visual verification — The color-mapped isopach views are a game changer. I can see exactly where cut and fill is happening across the site, which makes it easy to spot design errors, catch missed areas, and sanity-check my takeoff before the number goes out the door. All disciplines under one roof — Earthwork, materials, and underground utilities all live in the same model. That means my grading quantities and my trench quantities are tied to the same plan, and nothing falls through the cracks between divisions. Handles revisions without starting over — Plans change constantly in this business. AGTEK makes it easy to update surfaces and rerun balances without rebuilding the entire takeoff from scratch. That alone saves hours on rebids and value engineering exercises.

Cons:

Cost of entry — AGTEK isn't cheap. For a smaller contractor or a one-person estimating shop, the upfront licensing cost can be a tough pill to swallow. It pays for itself quickly on volume, but that initial investment is a real consideration for companies just getting into digital takeoffs. Learning curve for new users — While it's intuitive for experienced plan readers, someone brand new to estimating or digital takeoffs is going to need time and training to get comfortable. It's not the kind of software you can just open up and figure out on your own in an afternoon.

AGTEK Heavy Civil Estimator

Started my AGTEK Journey back in 2022 at their Hands-On seminar in Livermore CA. At first it was a bit daunting just because no one at my company knew how to use AGTEK, but the AGTEK support group was amazing, super responsive & helpful and not only that but the webinars are extremely helpful as they go in depth step by step process. I just recently went to the hexagon conference in Vegas, where AGTEK was hosting a 2-day seminar which again super helpful and engaging.

As a Heavy Civil Estimator, AGTEK Gradework is an essential tool for my everyday workload. Whether I'm working on subdivisions, commercial, waterworks or road reconstruction projects AGTEK is an extremely helpful tool. AGTEK can look pretty daunting at first but once you give it a try, attend one of their webinars or look at the tutorial videos they have on their site, it becomes very simple and effective in building out your earthwork/utilities Takeoffs.

Cons:

The new gradework is pretty neat when it comes to materials and obviously gradework but the highway mode is not as good compared to the old Earthwork 4D, whenever I use Highway mode on the new gradework app, my lines don't comform as smooth as they used to, or it just glitches alot. But htis only happens on Highway all the other features work great.

AGTEK "Efficiency, Quality, Value"

I started using Agtek in 2019 and it has been a great tool that I have used almost everyday. I have seen it grow with all the updates it has had in this time period. It has helped me not only understand the importance of the takeoff process in heavy civil work it has helped me learn how to read plans better and really understand them, learn how to read geo tech reports properly to assist with takeoffs and many other things that would be too much to list!

Pros:

Agtek Grade work is the most efficient way in the earth moving trade to calculate cut/fill quantities on a jobsite, I also love the fact I can use it hand and hand with Agtek reveal for drone flights and topo's.

Cons:

I believe that grade work should have a spot for notes or memos. If a estimator receives the job after the takeoff guy is done, it would be handy to be able to open up Agtek and there could be callouts in grade work or materials. This would help the takeoff guy be able to note what he was thinking and help the estimator understand that.
