Still a Great Program to Use, Best for Global Access

Still great because I can access docs anywhere in the world with wifi whereas MS Word, I can't. So, any files that I need multiple people to have access to I think Google Docs is better than MS Word.

    Pros:
I still use it to this day, and I recently switched from Evernote to Google Docs for journaling because Evernote started lagging and kept spamming me with offers to buy their paid service.
    Cons:
Not sure, so far it's been pretty good. Yes, I still use MS Word for regular documents as the formatting in MS Word is better in my opinion

My preferred word processing app for over a decade!

Google Docs has been a seamless and user friendly experience throughout my many years of using it. It's reliable, innovative and cost effective.

    Pros:
Google docs is my preferred choice of word processing app due for so many reasons! Google docs is aesthetically formatted and user friendly. The ability to access your documents from any device is a non negotiable for me. The fact it remains FREE is amazing. The automatic save feature has saved me multiple times. Although this feature has been adopted to most word processors nowadays; when I first started using Google Docs it was life changing for me. I love the collaborative features it offers when sharing a document with someone. Having the ability to share in complete edit mode, view only mode or (my favourite) comments only mode makes a huge difference in being able to control what and who changes the original document. When the document needs multiple people's input it makes it significantly easier being able to see who made a comment and what the preferred changes are, without anyone accidentally changing the original draft.
    Cons:
I have had issues with my document being slightly reformatted aesthetically when it's been converted to a word document file.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

At the time Microsoft didn't have an online version and I only had access to the desktop version at home. Emailing myself essays back and forth so I could access them at work was just ridiculous. Google documents was my first introduction to cloud based software many many years ago! It changed the way I interacted with documents completely.

    Simple and Strong with AI

There has rarely been a time that Google Docs does not satisfy the exact thing I need in a word processor. From drafting communications, to clear collaboration, including superior comment thread support, it's the easiest solution I have found on the market.

    Pros:
As compared to other word processors, it feels like Google Docs is constantly getting updates. Recently, that has been AI, but generally, it seems like the product is always evolving and in ways I benefit from. From interactive components like drop down menus to deep links into other parts of Google, all the features feel like they are easy to use and built for me before I know I need them. There's rarely any sort of bug to resolve and the autosave is instantaneous.
    Cons:
Sometimes there are features that are missing from this that legacy systems may have, like mail merge, but there are plugins that help resolve this. Generally any data driven feature is a little bit harder to make work. Also, there's a limited amount of functionality available when offline.

    Reasons for choosing Google Docs

The functionality was generally clunkier with a worse UI on the Microsoft product.

    Pros:
I think it replicates really well the core functionality of a good document writing tool. It has some really great features and of course it's low cost. Really easy to use too. The new AI tools are super cool tool.
    Cons:
It has not evolved much in recent times and it can be more experimental with more features. I do find that sharing documents can sometimes be a bit of a long winded process.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

Cost mostly but also because our documents are managed better in google drive compared to one drive
