My go-to for EXIM data

5

I came looking for importer data, and found much more value than I expected. Supplier data helped map competitor landscape, relationships, volume, etc. The best part was the ability to seamlessly export the data. Dave was kind to give me a 7-day free trial to take the product for a spin.

Commodity market price trend insights would be of great value, helping us plan better, manage risks, and make more informed decisions.

Dive into InportYeti

5

The overall experience is highly positive because the free access to U.S. customs data is considered a game-changer for many businesses, particularly those focused on supplier discovery and competitive analysis. Users consistently rate the site highly for its user-friendly interface and the clear data visualizations (like charts and maps) that make it simple to interpret shipment history and supplier networks. While some advanced users note that the platform lacks the deep, specialized filtering of expensive premium tools and only covers sea imports to the U.S., the general consensus is that ImportYeti is a powerful, reliable, and incredibly efficient tool that saves users significant time when vetting partners. The search feature is robust, and the on-page layout is designed to keep all crucial information readily accessible.

Pros:
ImportYeti offers truly exceptional value for money, primarily because its main features are entirely free for public use. This free access gives you deep insight into U.S. customs sea shipment data, which is usually locked behind expensive subscription fees on other platforms. This high-utility, no-cost approach allows any business to quickly vet potential suppliers and analyze what their competitors are doing, making it a powerful and accessible tool for everyone who needs to look into trade relationships. When it comes to data management, ImportYeti builds its foundation on public U.S. customs sea shipment records (Bills of Lading), which ensures the information is legitimate and accurate. The platform does an excellent job of organizing this often-complicated data, presenting it through a highly usable interface with clear visualizations of supplier networks and historical shipment trends. However, there is one key limitation to be aware of regarding its data scope: it focuses almost exclusively on U.S. sea imports. You won't find extensive coverage for air or land freight, non-U.S. trade activity, or the kind of highly advanced analytical filtering that some of the expensive premium platforms offer.
Cons:
Nothing really, they are always updating the site and compared to many others out there and the amount of money they charge, ImportYeti is the best.

Vendor Response

Thank you for your super extensive feedback, Eli! I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the site and I'm really glad you are enjoying it : )

Pros:
Free service made the website better to use.
Cons:
It can be very difficult to track down specific names a company might use. I do not think this is due to import yeti though. I believe it is due to how they fill out/file the manifest.

Vendor Response

Thank you for your feedback, Rob! That's right. Companies use different names when they filled out the manifest. We're working on integrating this data : )

Was able to find a supply source to workaround tariff headaches!

5

With tariff schedules in full swing and no sign of calming down, I thought it would be a good idea to get proactive in alternative supply sourcing while I still have another year of material surplus to go on. The plan was to circumvent wholesalers in the US and go direct to source, and boy I learned a few things along the way. Once I was able to track wholesale inflows for the specific material categories I required (super easy with the visual flow breakdowns in ImportYeti) I grabbed contact info from the import manifest details on a few listings that had WhatsApp numbers. This led me to discover that A LOT of the large US wholesalers actually create front companies within the countries where their primary supplier is to mask the source and act as a gatekeeper for people attempting to circumvent them! With the help of Meta's Llama and X's Grok however, I was able to scrape Instagram and X posts to match WhatsApp numbers to accounts, and discovered one linked on South American Instagram servers. After digging into the company, it turns out they are the 2nd largest exporter of the product I was looking for in that country, and they actually had a low enough MOQ that made it feesible for a sole-prop like me to actually order. I was pretty skeptical initially demoing the service that it could be of use to such a tiny one-man business like mine, but through Dave's (founder of ImportYeti) generous offer to let me try out full-featured access for a week, but with a little creative engineering on my part it will likely turn out to cut my future supply costs down by about 1/3rd! I can't imagine the savings a SMB could get utilizing the data running trend analysis, incorporating LLMs in to the API, etc. Dave is also extremely responsive, helpful, and encouraging...how many businesses do you work with where the owner actually replies to you without boilerplate? Highly recommended!

Pros:
It provides enough relevent info to gain highly useful insight about supplier networks, MOQ estimates, who major players are in a field based on inflow/outflow, who their primary retail customers are, etc. It also helped my realize tactics used by companies to "mask" their primary source from competitors.
Cons:
Did not always incorporate contact details in profiles, or contact detail relevence was outdated, might be a good idea to set up bots to auto verify info by sending mock quote requests to the numbers/emails or something.

Reasons for choosing ImportYeti

Cleaner interface, fast non-automated contact, had more relevent info and how it related to what I was searching for

Vendor Response

Thank you for your incredibly detailed review, Jonathan! What a fascinating use case. Really happy to know how ImportYeti has help you locate high quality suppliers that some companies want to hide. I really appreciate your support : )

Pros:
For me, ImportYeti’s biggest and most honest strength is that it is free, and not in the hollow way that suggests important features are locked behind a paywall. That freedom removes the cost friction when you are experimenting with suppliers or scouting new opportunities, and it makes curiosity feel cheap in the best possible sense. On top of that, from my experience the support team is extremely responsive. If you just request a feature by yourself, they tend to take it very seriously and often deliver. Another feature I genuinely enjoy is the random company search, which is a small joy but a large idea. When you do not have a company in mind, that little button (and the shortcut key) is really useful. It helps you stumble on fresh leads, sparks inspiration, and breaks the paralysis that comes from having too many choices.
Cons:
I wish there was a way for me to do proactive discovery. While the platform is great when you go there with a specific company in mind, I would love to see a feature that helps those who comes to explore without a clear starting point. Maybe a personalized section that curates and suggests things I should be looking at based on my past searches, goals, or my profile would be awesome.

Vendor Response

Thank you for your amazing review, Bash! I'm really glad you enjoy the site : ) That's an interesting suggestion. We will think of ways to include it on the site

Pros:
ImportYeti makes it incredibly easy to research U.S. import/export activity and build targeted prospect lists. The search is fast, the shipment history view is clear, and I can quickly understand who is buying from whom, how frequently, and at what scale. Huge time-saver for sales and business development.
Cons:
Sometimes company name matching can be inconsistent (similar names / subsidiaries), and I’d love more advanced filters (date range, HS code/keyword filters) and a smoother export option for larger lists.

Vendor Response

Thank you for the kind words, Burak! I'm really glad you're enjoying the tool and I really appreciate your feedback. Name matching and more advanced filters is something we're constantly working on : )

It just works.

I found ImportYeti while researching Ukulele manufacturers. Many brands and retailers are unclear about their supply chain. After discovering the business names of several brands, I was able to easily track suppliers and shipments on ImportYeti. Each result returns one free Bill of Lading, which is awesome! This can show quantities, types, origins, destinations, and more. The information is organized into charts and graphs, which helps to compare datasets. Not only is the data presented clearly, but almost everything is hyperlinked. You can find just about anything without ever touching a keyboard. All of my personal research utilized the free information available, and I found everything I needed. I tried using other import/export websites (including several US State's port authorities), and this is hands-down the best!

Cons:
For me personally, no cons found. As with any service, there is a cost. While I would love everything to be free, I believe the cost is justified.

I am actively searching about performance and styling parts for my car. I was curious to see where big companies that make intercoolers, induction kits, carbon fiber body parts, etc... get there materials. A huge parts of them was actually ordering materials or even ready-to-sell parts from China ! ImportYeti changed my mind on the chinese production.
