Once mastered, the ability to create flowcharts becomes very easy indeed. Having a degree of Project management and/or process management experience helps significantly in understanding the use of the different icons, although there are some very useful templates to help with creating your visuals.
Cons:
Being a Microsoft product, you can't use this software across different platforms, which makes it limited in terms of cross-functionality.

Visio: A Vision of a Perfect Flowchart

My experience with Visio has been positive. It's easy to use and has a lot of cool features tucked away once you get the hang of the basics. (For my part, I only need the basics, and they work wonderfully.) I wish it came bundled with Microsoft 365 for Business by default. Actually buying Visio is so much harder than it needs to be.

Previously I made flowcharts in PowerPoint. I had to make a new presentation, create a non-title slide, insert a shape, resize the shape, insert a text box, insert an arrow, resize the arrow, connect the arrow to the shape, and repeat all of the above a dozen times, just to make a simple flowchart. Visio doesn't have this issue; it's so much simpler! Visio gives you the blank slate and a whole selection of shapes and arrows that connect to one another automatically. Any text you attach is resized automatically to compensate for the change in shape. This ease of use lets me focus on the content of the flowchart, rather than the formatting. (The formatting features are robust, too.) I quite like Visio's approach to flowchart creation, at least in comparison to PowerPoint's.
Cons:
I wish Visio came bundled with Microsoft 365 for Business by default. The pricing model for Visio (and Microsoft 365 in general) is so confusing. Feature-wise, Visio is great. But acquiring the software, let alone acquiring it at the best cost, is a hassle.

Visio Usage for Organizational Charts

I use visio quite a lot for succession planning, org charts and strategy. Printing option isn't amazing but overall a great product which is connected to office 365.

Cons:
Would love a basic diagram where you can just use a title only. The default templates don't give this option. Having a "dotted line" to multiple staff would be an asset as well
