Best way to keep your e-books organized!

    5

As an author, I'm also an avid reader, and with everything basically going digital these days I found myself buying and downloading e-books almost daily. From authors, I'm interested in reading, to resources on marketing and writing, almost everything can be found in e-book format. But eventually, you start to run out of space, and things become difficult to find, which is where Calibre comes into play. I absolutely love that someone came up with this! It makes it super easy to organize all your e-books in one place! They absolutely mean it when they say you're never more than three clicks away from your goal, it's that easy to navigate and use! I also love that they don't just work with one format. I've got kindle books (mobi) epubs and iBooks, and Calibre can handle them all! I can even download newspaper and magazine articles, I mean, seriously, what other software can do all that for you? Calibre is a MUST HAVE for any avid reader, no matter which format of e-book you prefer!

No better way to manage ebooks for your tablet

The many ebook formats out there and limited functionality from tablet to tablet is frustrating, but Calibre removes all those problems. There's not a better ebook organization system I've found. Highly recommend it.

    Pros:
Calibre seeks to be a one stop shop for ebooks and documents for your tablet and it does that phenomenally well. Seamlessly converts into any format you could hope for quickly and efficiently, and can work to import content within the program or apart from it. The best!
    Cons:
It's not the slickest looking software in the world, but I'm much more interested in content than looking pretty. Also wish it would wirelessly transfer to my Kindle, perhaps there's a way to do that that I haven't figured out.

    Organize your e-book library

I don't use the software very often. It seems better for nonprofessionals who want to organize their personal e-books, rather than for businesses, but it's possible I'm missing something.

    Pros:
If you want a way to organize your e-book library, Calibre is a great free option. You can also use it to change from one book format to another. As an independent author, I've found other methods that are simpler for that if it's a book I'm publishing. However, if you like to get Kindle books and switch them to ePub for your own use, or vice versa, this would be a good way to do that.
    Cons:
I do not find the software especially easy to figure out. I'm sure that if you used it more often, you would quickly know how to do what you wanted to do.

    Pros:
I love that I can have multiple "virtual libraries" to organize both my insanely large ebook collection as well as my vast print book collection. I use it as a wishlist of sorts, also. Tags are extremely helpful & I'm so grateful for the robust format conversion functions. The content server allows me to access my library from my phone & tablet, which is yet another fantastic feature. Oh yeah, & it's free!!
    Cons:
The interface is a little ugly, but it IS getting better & is customizable.

My default software for converting e-reader files

    5

I have downloaded the desktop version on all my personal machines for many years now. Whenever I am interested in a new author or book, I first "sample" a "free" version which helps me decide if I want to purchase the said material. This process has led to many sales for various authors I would have not otherwise have purchased. As these "free" versions can come in various formats, Calibre helps me change the files in my preferred format before transferring them to my e-reader. I have recommended this software to others and will continue to do so.

Easy to use. Great way to organize a local library.
    Cons:
Does not offer (or I have not found a way) to save a profile online and save my library in the cloud (am relying on other solutions for this which ads a some overhead to the whole experience).

    My Go-To for Creating Ebooks

    5

Despite the minor quibbles, I really do love using Calibre. I've been using it for years, so it only takes me a few minutes to upload a previously formatted book and run it through Calibre's conversion to create the various book formats I need for publication.

    Pros:
Once I knew how to best convert to the formats I needed for my books, it was easy to go in. I can create ebooks very quickly if I have a file ready.
    Cons:
If you don't know what you're doing, it can be difficult to create an ebook properly. Also, no matter what I've done for formatting, I can't stop Calibre from creating two Table of Contents, one at the beginning of the book and one at the end. It's not a big deal, but it would have been nice if I'd been able to find a way to not have two.
