About LogicalDOC

LogicalDOC is a content management solution that caters to businesses of all sizes across various industries such as information technology and services, oil and energy, wholesale and more. Key features include access control, communication management, permission management, file management, a drag and drop interface and customizable branding.

LogicalDOC provides users with pre-built templates for a variety of documents. The solution also provides tools to help users search uploaded documents, bookmark specific files, convert them into multiple formats, edit documents and import or export content from ZIP archives, e-mail boxes and desktop devices.

Additionally, LogicalDOC features version control, an integrated HTML editor, digital watermarking, optical character recognition (OCR) and multilingual full-text indexing. The solution can either be deployed on-premise or hosted in the cloud. Support is offered over the phone. One time, per-license pricing is available.

LogicalDoc - Powerful System File Management

This system is so easy to use and maintain. The price point is excellent since we are a smaller company and need to be mindful of the cost. It provides a lot of features for the price and does exactly what we need at this point in time.

Pros:

LogicalDoc is very intuitive to use - it can look like the file system used on a PC. However, it has powerful document management tools so that you can exactly who is accessing documents at any time. It is especially easy to preview a document and see the contents without downloading. Another very powerful tool is the "Edit with Office" feature. Any Microsoft office document can be edited directly within the software with using the "checkin - checkout" feature which saves valuable time since downloading and uploading can be avoided and you can go right to work. Document access can easily limit access to documents and the system clearly shows who has accessed documents.

Cons:

The workflow tool is a little difficult to program, in my opinion. Since I am a non-techie and our company has limited tech support, it was time-consuming for me to set up the workflows we use. The documentation provided is typical for software - it explains how to set up the system but not best practice on using the various features. The LogicalDoc team did provide some companies who were using the system so that I could connect with them. That helped somewhat.

Reasons for choosing LogicalDOC

We reviewed several other products but LogicalDoc provided the features we needed at a great price. Other systems had more features that we did not need at a much higher price.

Reasons for switching to LogicalDOC

A system that was more restrictive of document access and workflow for document approval was needed.

Easy to implement and use

Overall, tech support is very good addressing issues when they arise, but we have had very few issues with our installation and we love the product! Since we have a lot of documents and especially emails to file daily by several people, this product fulfills the requirement of being easy to use and maintain. Product support of the technical aspect of the database is always quickly addressed, but I feel there are many more features of the software I could be using but am not able to determine how to use them or in what situation to use them (I am NOT a tech-oriented person!), but that seems typical with many softwares. Since we are a small company, we are unable to spend a lot on individualized product training but I would love to attend a user conference and network with other users. The company has provided some user references to contact but I have not had any luck in having contacts return my calls.

Pros:

My co-workers loved that it looks like a typical folder filing system. I personally love the add-ons that allow filing directly to the database from Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, word etc.) and the "edit with Office" feature. It's very easy to set implement and easy to use. It addresses our concerns for data privacy since we have our own cloud version maintained by LogicalDoc at a VERY affordable price.

Cons:

I would like to have the option to file Acrobat pdfs directly to the database similar to Microsoft products. I feel that product documentation could be more robust and I have needed to create my own user initial set-up and training documentation to enable users to utilize the system without my intervention.

Full Featured Document Management System for a reasonable price

At implementation, we expected to put our complete document repository in the system. As stated, based on the functionality a few years ago, we cut back our implementation and only used the system for our accounting data.

Pros:

- The basic features of the system work well - When we implemented the system a few years ago, we tried using it to manage our office documents but did not like the workflow required to edit documents. My recollection is documents needed to be downloaded for editing and could not be done right from the interface. This may have changed - I can not comment on the current version as I have not looked at those features recently. - We use the system to store our accounting documents - the system works very well for that - we have no complaints - We store the documents and add tags to them for classification - When I've needed support, they were very helpful in solving my issues. Sometimes, the time zone difference gets in the way of quicker support

Cons:

- I've had issues with the search features not returning the expected results - The process to update the application could be easier - We tried to reduce the number of users and were not allowed to do.

The Product is Good but the policy for partners in selling product is not as per standard, like they don't refer the cases to partners they directly deal with them where in other partnership every query is referred to Partners from where it comes.

The product is easy to install, use and manage. It has builten workflow module with good features

Cons:

Input Forms is very simple No GUI interface available. Multi Record Entry is Very difficult as every single cell need to be entered instead of Row.

We loved how advanced the OCR in logicaldoc is and the fact we can mount external SMB shares

Cons:

The indexing sometimes stops working and we need to contact support, but this may be due to we are using the appliance install

Great product, exceptional support

We have 7 different sites and we had terrible issues with disconnected network shares, and muddled security through active directory. Not to mention documents being lost or overwritten. Nobody knew where to find anything, so we had so many duplicated documents and illogical folder structures. We have rationalised our entire organisational structure, and we use folder templates a lot to ensure we don't get into a mess again. We can pull documents into the repository via email and we can integrate with other systems. Using version control and rebuilding our security model from the ground up has improved efficiency.

Pros:

Before we implemented LogicalDOC there was a lot of resistance and opposition to such a big change in working practice. It was only a matter of weeks before users were telling me how happy they were and how easy it was. The interface is very intuitive - users understand immediately what they are looking at. It integrates with Office, so we just carry on using the same tools as before. Remote access is a breeze, and we have integrated it with our staff intranet. Now we have proper version control, we don't have documents being overwritten and we can manage duplication and organisation centrally. Finally, the support provided by LogicalDOC is second to none. I can't stress how important it is to have a skilled, responsive support team to call on in times of need.

Cons:

As with any "cloud" based technology, reliance on browsers. LogicalDOC used to work very well in Chrome, but we are having issues with that. Easy enough to provide access to alternative browsers, but it does interfere with productivity.

Cons:

OCR does not work properly. Depending on hidden reasons, some documents are ocr recognized, others not. And you don't know what documents are in ocr and what docs are not. A lot of issues with the resizing and painting of the windows, the search has also bugs. So, searching is not trustable. The help desk is useless, it seems that when you detect a bug, you are guilty, you receive inappropriate answers, and the problem keeps unsolved.

Sorry for you bad experience. The OCR results highly depend on the nature and quality of your documents, and also the engine you use. LogicalDOC supports a couple of commercial engines while you are now using the free Tesseract OCR that comes as default choice but it is not the best. You may try with the other engines as specified in the documentation: https://docs.logicaldoc.com/en/settings/ocr Before your purchase you tried LogicalDOC for 30 days, so we suppose you tried the OCR and all the other features and you found them suitable for your needs. So if now you look for something else, we suggest you to carefully try the new system because we think that what you say about the OCR is nothing related to LogicalDOC. Regarding the Customer Support rating, we are really surprised because we attended all your requests in the same day and also in Spanish language, we also have an email(dated 07/02/2022) of yours thanking us for the speed in answering you.

The integration and the expansion with scripting (velocity) was one of the most important features, as system integrators we see then "unlimited" possibilities that we have with automation module.

Cons:

One of the features that we miss related to the other DMS systems is the fact that logicaldoc can not have multiple documents (files) per metadata record of course there is the link functionality but still needs expansion , for example to create links from the document it self and not with copy , paste as link.

It has all the essential features at a reasonable cost. The software is not a resource hog so no expensive server hardware is needed. Intuitive user interface meaning it takes minimal time to get new members of the organization up to speed with the system.

Cons:

Coming from a non-English speaking world, it can be a bit difficult for average people to operate interface as the multilingual user interface options are very limited. Only simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese is not available. The majority of documentations are English as well. Right now, the whole system works best on a desktop browser. The web interface for mobile devices can use some update.

Manage and Automate Document Workflows with LogicalDOC

Overall, we had a good experience with LogicalDOC. It is a powerful document management system that provides all the features we need to store, manage and share documents. The search and sorting functions are great, and the document versioning feature is a real plus. The lack of customization options is the only drawback we found.

LogicalDOC is a powerful document management system that has been a great help to our team. We have been using it for a while now and have found it to be intuitive to use, with an easy to navigate UI and a host of features that make it easy to store, manage and share documents. The search and sorting functions are very useful and it makes it easy to find the documents we need. The document versioning feature is also great for tracking changes over time.

Cons:

One downside of LogicalDOC is the lack of customization options. Often we find that the default settings do not quite fit our needs and there is no easy way to change them.
