Pros:
ability for Net Config mgr to backup configs track changes and allow a hierarchy for approval is great. standards implementations made easy.
Cons:
implementation was long as we had existing securtiy measures in place so every device needed to be touched to allow SSH and SNMP settings adjusted, but if you want an omelet u have to break some eggs

My experience with ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager (NCM) is related to the tasks of automating network infrastructure management, change control, and fault tolerance through timely configuration backups. 1. Deployment and initial configuration When implementing NCM, it performed: deploying a server on Windows/Linux; connecting network devices from different vendors (Cisco, Mikrotik, Huawei, HP/Aruba, Fortinet); configuring credentials and access profiles; integration with OpManager and ServiceDesk Plus to automate incident handling. Plus, the process of connecting devices is quite simple, but for some models it was necessary to manually adjust the backup/restore commands.

Pros:
Here are the main advantages of ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager (NCM), which are most often noted by administrators and which are considered the strongest sides of the product.: 1. Centralized configuration management You can manage the configurations of all network devices from one location — switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi points. Saves a lot of time when working with a large number of devices. 2. Automatic backups
Cons:
Limited parsing and template capabilities Automatic configuration parsing does not always work correctly with: non-standard configs, by specific vendors, complex ACLs or firewall policies. Sometimes you need to manually add templates.

With the help of Network Configuration Manager, there has been an improvement of the reliability of change control. It has become the norm to check device statuses, check for policy adherence, and to develop new changes here and there for testing.

Pros:
I like that in the ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager the tool offers an instant rollback to the last saved configuration. I have learned that from a faulty firewall rule I can quickly restore and continue my work without having to spend time to configure from the scratch, or else it would lead to much more downtime.
Cons:
It has a very effective automated backup feature which suffers from failing to perform the backup if the network traffic is very high. This compelled me to create outside alerts to avoid getting realize some backup milestones during such moments.

Pros:
I found the real time configuration alerts very useful to track unauthorized changes throughout many routers and switches. It also allowed me to address problems before getting out of hand especially during the time of critical maintenance this made the oversight of the network much more reliable.
Cons:
One challenge I came across was that some of the firmware vulnerability scanners do not scan few of the older Cisco device so there are some areas uncovered. For those I had to use manual checking of which significantly hampered my full compliance exercise.

Pros:
It is noteworthy that Network Configuration Manager supports multi-vendor environments exceptionally well. Having to configurer numerous devices from many different manufacturers has been made easier through the use of this tool allowing us to have a on Stop tool instead of many tools.
Cons:
I noticed that while performing tasks related to configuration in the high traffic zone, a little bit of time might be taken for the same. Although it is not severe, latency may be problematic for time-sensitive operations.

Network Configuration Manager also has a rollback feature which can be synchronized with automatic backups. Finally, the history of backup archive makes me comfortable with the idea that I can easily audit and restore devices older states if they are required.
Cons:
Scheduling of compliance audits is a little formulized through the scheduling interface. I have not been able to achieve an exact match of scans with off-peak hours especially where I have designed my own custom policy sets.

In the area of reporting Network Configuration Manager shines and offers almost everything a compliance manager could need. Creating reports based on specific standards such as PCI and HIPAA has also helped in preparing and passing through audits effectively.
Cons:
There is always duplication of alerts for the same event, meaning that the team receives many alerts, and it gets boring after sometime. The idea of adjusting some alert thresholds could increase the level of practicality.
