About SimScale
SimScale is a full-cloud engineering simulation platform that enables engineers and designers to perform CFD, FEA, and thermal simulations. It provides a single platform with broad physics capabilities, allowing engineers to conduct both rough early- and detailed late-stage simulations.
Additionally, in architecture, SimScale can provide design insights for urban microclimate, wind load effects, indoor environment, and contamination control all in one platform.

Functional CFD on Browser!
5
I am loving learning SimScale. It also seems generally popular because I was talking with a mechanical engineer the other day and he was also talking about how he did a project on SimScale. I wanted to simulate fluid flow on a square cuvette fixxed with a magnetic rotator and I was able to do it easily with SimScale.
Ratings Breakdown
Reasons for switching to SimScale
Autodesk CFD would eat up a lot of resources so I switched to SimScale as it runs on cloud on browser and eats up negligible client resources.

Great software with great customer support
5
Great experience would definitely recommend for anyone that wants/has to design and simulate a product or objec. As a engineering student I feel this is a great software to learn and increase knowledge in design and materials.

Price and is easier to achieve good results.
Reasons for switching to SimScale
I had a lot of issues with my computer mainly because of the RAM usage, also Inventor is really limited compared to Simscale.

Good for Thermal Mass Transfer and High Velocity Gas Flow Analysis
4
I have improved, explained, or discounted a number of my designs with the help of SimScale. SimScale's strength is in CFD and Thermal Analysis.
Ratings Breakdown
Reasons for switching to SimScale
Cosmos was used form Thermal Mass Transfer but was no longer supported outside of Solidworks. Autodesk CFD did not work well on a laptop.

A good CFD tool
5
It is a very good tool. The support is excellent. They are very responsive and get back with solutions to the issues. The tool is still under rapid development and is only likely to add more features with time.
Ratings Breakdown
Reasons for switching to SimScale
Cost of the package was significantly higher.

Easy to learn, even without previous FEA experience
5
I am an electrical engineer by training and don't routinely use FEA software in my current role. However, I had a problem that needed solving, no access to any other FEA packages, so I found SimScale. I probably won't be able to justify a fully licensed version, but the learning opportunity alone on the trial version is well worth your time investment. The ease of use and how quickly I was able to run a basic simulation was amazing. Even importing geometry was easy. Also very helpful is the ability to see how your solution is converging (or not). With that data you can make assessments about time step, mesh resolution, etc. It makes striking a balance between accuracy and computational intensity much easier to judge.

Reasons for switching to SimScale
I found FEATool to be buggy. It would crash often. Also, the simulation was run on the local machine. So unless you had a very powerful workstation computer, the simulations took a long time. SimScale runs in the cloud and you can run multiple processor cores.

We needed a CFD solution that came with great support for the casual user. We only use it a few times a year, but it gives us great results. This helps us to have confidence our designs will perform as desired.

SimScale - cost effectiveness
4
It is positive. I understand that the company is in growth and continuous development, so some features are not available that you would like to have. However, they are very responsive and take note of your recommendations to incorporate them in future releases. For many applications, compared to other software, its cost-effectiveness stands out.
