Pros:

Integratioins with most of the Modern data stack Love the aspect of Socializing with the tools instead of taking the discussion outside. Love Data lineage and Data discovery.

Cons:

I have been using the tools for almost over 1 and a half year, and i cannot find what i dont like. But over the last 1 year we did put lots of feature requests and they took our requests and were able to deliver with in no time.

Reasons for choosing Metaphor

Metaphor had better roadmap and features. Metaphor was focussed more on enabling users and being a social platform for data sets compared to others are focussed on how many integrations and how many connections. Also pricing contributed into this as metaphor was more leaned towards natural growth compared to charging based on number of tables.

Overall experience with the team has been great. Future plans for the product are ambitious and fit our vision of the future of data catalogs and data discovery.

Pros:

Focus on good UX/UI, usable, team and communication focused tooling instead of just being an inventory list.

Cons:

Communication on product roadmap, new feature releases, support ticket updates. Not as consistent or frequent as we would hope.

Reasons for choosing Metaphor

At the time of purchase, CastorDoc had limitations when it came to the amount of data we could pull into the product, we were running up against those limitations in our pilot testing. At the time, Select Star was considered by some internal users to be less friendly in the UX/UI and more for technical users than business users.

Reasons for switching to Metaphor

At the time, Collibra was far more expensive, far more complicated to setup and administer, and our most important integrations and lineage needs were not on the product roadmap anytime soon.
