Decent File transfer protocol in my routine

    4

My overall expereience with FileZilla is good, it is really a decent FTP tool with mid-tier pricing. Some of the reviewers mention poor customer handling of FileZilla, but the customer support team really helps me in understanding the options. In my perspective, FileZilla is a secure and reliable FTP tool for daily uasge.

    Pros:
The best thing about FileZilla is it's ease of access, it is highly user-friendly and don't need much technical stuff to use this. I use FileZilla to transfer my official data like client data, product brochures, official circulars with my team. The user interface is simple and solid. It is good for small group to share files among them.
    Cons:
FileZilla is good for small groups of around 50 to 100 members, but if you want to share with the group of large members it takes lot of time. I expereinced frequent connection disruptions while sharing the file with many members. Sometimes downloading the files from server also takes more time.

    Reasons for switching to FileZilla

I used WinSCP free version for my official use earlier, and the organization makes the move to switch from it.

    Pros:
I use it to develop and maintain a website on a company Linux machine. It is very useful because I can browse the remote and local machine, copy and download files, and edit them directly with my preferred PHP editor. A plus is also the possibility to save connection to server
    Cons:
I think that the GUI is a bit "oldish", i will prefer working with Filezilla with a more modern UI

A decent, if antiquated, FTP app

    3

Overall, we were not happy with using FileZilla and found ourselves constantly searching the Free FTP app space and trying other products on a regular basis. We tried CyberDuck, and others.. but ultimately landed on Transmit FTP and haven't looked back

    Pros:
FileZilla is a well known name in the FTP app space. It offers solid performance and it's free, with multiple versions for different operating systems.
    Cons:
The UI it very dated and the feature set is lacking when compared to paid rivals. You have to pay for the manual if you want all the docs! The pro version, which adds nearly as many connection methods as Transmit 5, costs $20 but lacks in most areas compared to full fledged pro FTP apps.

An essential and powerful piece of FTP software for managing website files

    4

Overall, after trying several alternatives I find myself coming back to FIleZilla. I find that it always works. The interface is a bit intimidating but if you can look past that and focus on the file transferring and getting the job done than it's all good! FTP software isn't meant to be pretty anyways, it's about functionality and it does just that.

    Pros:
Filezilla is great! The fact that it's available on all operating systems is fantastic! I've used on Windows and Linux without issues, it functions the same. Feature-wise, the "Quickconnect" feature is incredible, it allows you to quickly connect to previously logged in servers without having to type in any login information! This saves so much time. Furthermore, their is the "Site Manager" which is super useful, allowing you to create a directory of all of your websites and keep the login information for each in one place. If you want to know the status of your file transfers there's a little tab menu at the bottom displaying failed and successful transfers - especially important for when uploading multiple files at once. The program runs smooth, transfers my files as expected, and I've never had any issues trying to connect to any external FTP or SFTP servers - so that's great!
    Cons:
Despite all that FileZilla has to offer it does suffer in a few ways. One being the interface can be a bit overwhelming with the screen being divided into 4 panels consisting of folders, files, and the website files. There needs to be a built-in dark theme! Another thing is I wish a large directory of files from my PC would upload quicker to a given web server - I've encountered this specifically when trying to install CMS platforms directly to the root of the site/server. This isn't very often I need to do this, so it's not a total deal breaker.

    Reasons for switching to FileZilla

WinScp lacked some of the functionality and stability I required. I also needed an FTP client I could use on any platform, WinScp is strictly for the Windows OS.

Free cross platform FTP software with drag and drop interface

    4

I use Filezilla for developing websites as I copy files over to staging areas on the remote site. I find it easy to use for this purpose as it has a drag and drop interface. I can easily see which files I need to copy by ordering them by date and time.

    Pros:
It is free, but then so are some alternatives e.g. Cyberduck It automatically tells you when there are updates and it is easy to install the latest version I appreciated how it warns you if the destination server is insecure I can view and edit files on the remote site in my favorite editor I liked the drag and drop interface
    Cons:
The first time I installed it, I didn't realize I should have checked a box to prevent bundled offers from being installed. It does warn you and advises you to check the box, but I found it easy to overlook. It took me a while to get rid of the junk software, scan my computer for potential threats and carry on. There was no ability to synchronize folders so changes are automatically copied over.

    Reasons for choosing FileZilla

I preferred the interface compared to Cyberduck and I know quite a lot of people who use FileZilla who I could potentially turn to if I have a problem.

Filezilla never lets me down. It works everytime! I can connect to the server I need and upload and download what is needed. The settings are setup out of the box, so nothing to really worry about. All the settings you need for different servers are at your fingertips and easily found. Great product.

    Pros:
Implementing Filezilla is very quick and basic. You can have this FTP client installed within minutes and connect to your needed server in moments. Filezilla has all the settings you need to connect to any server. Fast uploads and downloads work great.
    Cons:
The only negative is how when you first open Filezilla, you have to click File -> Site Manager... It would be nice if the Site Manager just opened when you open Filezilla. Could save a click or two.

    Reasons for switching to FileZilla

Cyberduck has a tendency to hide the "htaccess" file and that is better on Filezilla.

Easy way to move files to and from the server

    5

I have used Filezilla for more than 10 years now, and have no need to switch. The user information has been easy to move from one computer to another when changing hardware, and not one single time have I had any issues. For a while I was thinking that SCP connections are not supported, but apparently they can be used as well (some servers demand those). Good software.

    Pros:
The user interface is great. It features both the folder structure and contents of a chosen folder on the computer, and also the folder structures and contents of a chosen folder on the server. This makes it easy to drag and drop files and directories, unlike some other software that show only one side at a time.
    Cons:
It has a large amount of more complex options which make the menus a bit cluttered and sometimes some less-used features are difficult to find. At some point I read reviews online that Filezilla comes with some bloatware installed that the user cannot remove when installing, but I have not noticed such. You can always opt out from installing any additional junk when installing Filezilla.

    Reasons for switching to FileZilla

Filezilla's user interface is just so much better in my opinion.

    Pros:
Filezilla is easy to use and has an interface where you can see exactly what you're doing at a glance. Strengths include the drag and drop functionality, and the ability to queue entire websites which make it really helpful. Being able to edit files as if you're editing them on the server is especially handy. Filezilla is regularly updated, which gives me peace of mind security-wise.
    Cons:
I can't really think of any cons. Filezilla help could be a little better integrated when dealing with more intricate tasks but I'm saying this as a user who doesn't have much complex ftp knowledge.

    Reasons for choosing FileZilla

Filezilla just has such a great track record.
