Great Tool

Have enjoyed using tax clarity to help clients get expectations for what taxes in their retirement will look like.

Its great to use for both potential clients and new clients to help in other aspects of their retirement.

Cons:

Not a big deal because most the revisions have been good but their have been a lot of revisions.

It is an easier software to use and it can be beneficial for client facing information

It is pretty easy to use and convey the results to clients

Cons:

It would be nice to be able to just upload the tax return and the software would input the information. I would also like it to give suggestions on how to reduce taxes or consider Roth Conversions, etc.

Great Retirement Tax Planning Tool

I have been able to add tax planning to our relationships with clients and drive additional value that we could not without this software.

Pros:

I appreciate this software because with most of my clients, I can have an accurate projection of taxes today and in the future, and it takes no more than 5-10 minutes to put together. I can show my clients the exact tax impact of taking social security, recognizing capital gains, earning income, IRA distributions, etc.

Cons:

It may be that I have not delved far enough into the software, but I found it limited when working with more complicated scenarios with business owners and rental properties. I would also like the ability to create one client record and put multiple years worth of scenarios under that one client, versus creating multiple client records.

If you understand the basics of our Federal tax system, Tax Clarity can help you put in a scenario and model how it will affect a client in minutes. There is not a comprehensive financial planning software available that can actually do tax planning. They may give you tax information but will not allow you to optimize the client situation. This program fills that gap very well.

Cons:

It would be nice to see integrations with major financial planning software programs such as MoneyGuidePro or eMoney.

Outstanding Value-Add for Clients

Tax Clarity has added tremendous value for my clients. It gives me one more valuable thing to do in a quarterly meeting rather than just discussing investments. Helping clients save money on taxes makes sense, and it's good planning.

Pros:

If you do true wealth management or comprehensive financial planning, tax planning is critical. Too many advisors shy away from it or resort to the "check with your CPA" hokum. Most CPAs are trying to help clients minimize taxes today. This software enables you to find ways to help clients minimize taxes over their lifetime - something most CPAs don't do. It helps identify optimal strategies to realize capital gains, do Roth conversions, and more. More importantly, it produces client-friendly reports that help clients visualize the concepts. They also have a great client-facing presentation.

Cons:

There is a bit of a learning curve understanding how to read the Tax Map. Also, when clients have certain income or expenses, in some cases the software doesn't recognize it. However, with the constant improvements, this may have changed already.

I do a lot of ROTH conversions so I like to do the side by side with them. The clients like the reports and the system is relatively easy to use.

Easy to use. Works for most but not all clients. Clients understand it when I show them the report etc..

Cons:

IT doesn't work for many of my (IE) Business owner clients. It also doesn't let items like the $300.00 deduction be entered so the report is wrong for most people for 2021.

My experience with Tax Clarity

I specialize in income planning for retirees, which includes tax planning, so it is a great resource to help them know how much income to access from different sources, especially from qualified plans.

Pros:

The software is very accurate when calculating taxes. Only takes a few minutes to enter the information and the printouts are easy to read.

Cons:

I think an option for calculating self employment taxes would be beneficial.

The orginal version is better than the current.

Tax clarity makes it easy for clients to understand the ramifications of their decisions.

I actually like the older version better than the current one. The new version isn't as intuitive or easy to use.

Cons:

The new version lacks the simplistic nature of the original. You had a good tool and degraded it with your newer version.
