Review of Amazon VPC

We use VPC to manage our entire cloud network. We host several dozen EC2 servers and have VPC configurations on top of those. We split our network into several subnets with access limitations for specific ips/ports/subnets.

Pros:

Amazon VPC is a fully featured cloud networking service. We were able to connect between several other networks to our own using the software. It also lets you create isolated subnets, create groupings for servers and other network passthrough tools.

Cons:

VPC is one of the most confusing AWS services I have experienced, with many items on the site having similar names but different features. The learning curve on this service is definitely a hindrance although there are many resources available online that can assist. As for features, I haven't come across any feature that we needed that VPC did not provide.

Must use service from AWS from security standpoint

Network isolation, improving security posture, easy way to host and secure Network resources in public cloud.

Cons:

VPC costs a lot and needs good networking knowledge for optimized and secured setup. Also there are quota restrictions for certain endpoints which could be limitation for some organization.

Being a finance related organisation,Security is paramount to our organisation we used to deal with very sensitive data and hence need a secure environment.I wanted a private solution that can solves my problem and hence found VPC.Amazon VPC is the cost effective also the customer support is excellent. Amazon VPC allows users to have control on the virtual networking environment, creation of subnets and the network gateways.The best thing which I like about Amazon VPC is it supports data center outages and auto migration to remove/mitigate any Amazon web service(AWS)data center outages.VPC provides great security features such as access control, newtork masking and many more.

Cons:

Interface is not user friendly.Initial setup is bit confusing.Before implementing VPC solution you must be aware about how AWS works and need to leverage AWS services little bit.

With Amazon VPC it was possible to create dedicated deployments what are independent from public deployments. The documentation for Amazon VPC is great and it is quite easy to read and understand even for Engineers with less experience in network and security area

Cons:

I found it quite hard to create Amazon VPC with automated provisioning tools.
