About Cisco Secure Endpoint

Cisco Secure Endpoint is an advanced malware protection solution that helps enterprises secure emails, web traffic and endpoints. The solution prevents threats at point of entry and continuously tracks files to detect and remove file-less malware, ransomware and all other kinds of intrusions. In addition, Cisco provides security services that helps businesses identify incoming threats from third-party interactions, assess vulnerabilities and create information security programs.

Cisco Secure Endpoint uses multiple preventive engines with a threat intelligence system to facilitate automated identification and virus blocking. It offers a complete overview and control of servers across multiple platforms such as Windows, Android, iOS, macOS and Linux. Features include malicious activity protection, malware exploit prevention and analysis of new threats via machine-learning, sandboxing and more. Additionally, the application suppresses attacks by separating an infected endpoint and blocking it across platforms and devices.

Cisco Endpoint integrates with various third-party applications such as Blackpoint SNAP Defense, IBM Resilient, CyberSponse SOAR and IBM BigFix. Pricing is avail...

Cisco Amp is costly, but efficacy is high

AMP has helped us ensure that our endpoints are secure and that we have a much better pervasive idea of where if any vulnerabilities on our network exist.

Pros:
I love how Amp fits well into the Cisco security suite. If exploits or vulnerabilities are found, it is very easy to respond quickly across the board when you are using mostly Cisco security tools.
Cons:
Cost. The cost of the tools is higher than many others, and I think Cisco is still finding themselves in the security space, but they have made huge leaps over the past few years to be competitive and I love that.

Reasons for switching to Cisco Secure Endpoint

We mostly wanted to move to a Cisco product to have more insight from a single dashboard into security.

Reliable antivirus and malware protection, but buggy like many AV solutions

Everyone needs antivirus and malware protection, and that's why we use it.

Pros:
Low maintenance once it's set up. Just requires some periodic exclusion updates and version updates, which can be automated.
Cons:
Like many antivirus solutions, it can cause performance problems and operational problems. It's not supposed to, but it does. For example, I've seen high CPU utilization on various Linux servers because of it, and I've had it cause Linux file systems to be unresponsive because of it having files open in the file system. It does its job of protection, but it is buggy.

Reasons for choosing Cisco Secure Endpoint

We were looking for a cloud-managed endpoint protection solution. Also, Cisco did a good sales pitch about it not consuming resources and causing issues.

Pros:
When our store was smaller this was beneficial and easy to use. We were able to conduct business and not worry about a complicated system. We were able to maintain the information we needed to keep our bookkeeping accurate.
Cons:
Once our store was growing as far as customers and the inventory, we did not move away from Cisco due to any issue, we went with a POS system that was streamlined to our business and captured more information that we were wanting to keep track of.

Pros:
Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is really convenient, a small window box which most of the time runs in the background and not causing you any difficulties. VPN is great, probably one of the best that I ever used in my work experience. Internet connection stays stable, provides some extra security, runs in the background, well-optimized. Customer Experience Feedback is also a great bonus. Our IT department which was setting up Cisco bundle had never spoken bad about this product, I only heard: easy to integrate, maintain, administrate. Price may be higher than other similar products, but it well worth it.
Cons:
There are not many cons that I mentioned myself. I don't like one thing about the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client: when you are connected to VPN and you want to disable it there is a 'Disconnect' key on the Client itself which works perfectly, but if you will go for example to the Taskbar of your PC and force quit it with the right mouse key it likes to freeze for up to 15 seconds. Sometimes I have to do it again in order to quit it. Also roaming security, in our case Umbrella, likes to ban websites which has nothing to do with the list that our admin set up before. Sometimes it considers unharmful websites as a threat to security, but it happens not often.

Pros:
Cisco Secure Endpoint features so much under the umbrella of what it actually does; from the anyconnect VPN to secure endpoint/antivirus protection, I couldn't begin to tell you what all this thing ISN'T capable of.Cisco will definitely help secure/lock down any devices in your business's network.
Cons:
Installation packages have to be rebuilt (although there is a default one.)

Pros:
The administration console is a differentiator if purchased from other products. It has a lot of information about the computer park where AMP is installed, and easy to understand screens. At the customer, it is a product that does not weigh (consumption of memory and disk) compared to market competitors.
Cons:
I cannot isolate a stolen or infected machine on the console. Cognitive analysis is a little confusing and takes a long time to analyze, it is a lot of information.
