About EVO Payments

EVO offers scalable payment processing solutions for SMBs, B2B merchants, and other types of businesses. EVO's comprehensive suite is designed to accept all types of payments in-store, online, and via mobile devices. Merchants can use standalone terminals that accept PIN, chip, EMV, magstripe, contactless, plus other payment methods. Additionally, EVO offers payment-related services for merchants and partners.

To help merchants easily accept payments online, this solution offers a Virtual Terminal. Using any internet browser, merchants can process payments by swiping or keying in credit card information via the EVO CT homepage. Additionally, merchants can access customizable data fields, a secure Customer Vault for future processing, financial reporting tools, plus more. EVO offers multiple terminal solutions including NEXGO N5, an Android-based tablet terminal that securely accepts payments using point-to-point encryption.

    Payment processing is very easy. At our salon we take almost all transactions through credit cards, so we appreciate the ease of use and easy to read error codes in the event it doesn’t go through, etc.
    Cons:
    Sometimes the connection gets lost or something doesn’t go through properly, which leads us to go searching through the batches to figure out what went wrong, however we do have good customer service to help with that.

    EVO is a pretty standard credit card processor with no standout features.

    We needed a credit card processor for the POS component of our system and they were tied into Clean Cloud our CRM and POS system. We chose them because of the terminal pricing and the tie-in with our systems.

    The customer service and onboarding process was excellent. The people were nice, the program for establishing a new account was generous with terminal discounts. The people were just absolutely the friendliest you could hope for.
    Cons:
    The reports were difficult to navigate and that was after I finally got into the correct website for that information. I was given two different ways to login and one was not helpful at all and after a call the customer service folks got me where I needed to be for the info but the reports were not as robust as we needed.

    Years ago, they were convenient and OK. I don't think they had much competition back then. But now that they are having competition, they are definitely in the bottom of the barrel

    They will charge you for PCI noncompliance even if you host your website through another company like big commerce, and then they will act dumb and charge your account for six months in a row. And you will have to police your account so pay attention

    My overall experience is poor. I will not be using EVO Payments again. I do not believe it is an appropriate software for busy small business owners.

    EVO payments integrated with my invoicing software. There were sometimes glitches where I would have to independently review transactions on the EVO site. But most often, the integration worked well.
    Cons:
    Where do I start. I began to explore options while our business was down due to COVID. I tried another software that had better rates, very transparent pricing and faster delivery to my bank account. During this time, my fees at EVO were still $139 per month whether I used the service or not. So, after examining EVO for my business, I decided to cancel. Canceling was also a very unnecessary process. I had to call and talk to two different people. Then, I had to wait while they read the contract that I signed. Another 10 minutes and the informed me that I agreed to 2 months notice and if I terminated early I would pay a $250 fee. I opted for the $250 especially planned to charge me $139 monthly anyway. Then I had to write a letter and restate all of this- which I did. I asked for a confirmation by email which of course I have yet to receive.

    Deceptive and Sneaky Charges

    Awful. They will be deceptive and make it nearly impossible to cancel. Be careful using Evo Payments. Look at your contract very closely and make sure to keep an eye on the added charges.

    My overall experience with this company was pure disappointment. From start to finish, nothing went right. The customer service was unprofessional, and the quality of the service provided was far below what I expected. I left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

    I had the worst customer service experience with this company. The staff didn't care about helping customers. They were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. No one seemed interested in answering my questions or providing any assistance. The lack of communication made the whole experience frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend to no one. -

    I was really disappointed with both the customer service and the actual service provided by this company. The staff was unhelpful and seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns. To make matters worse, the service itself was subpar and didn't meet my expectations. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience, and I would not recommend them.

    They were charging me 6.4% of my sales though they told me their system used the lowest rates per card. Then to cancel they charge you $495. Never use this company
