Great monitoring tool

Great tool written by a well-respected software house. I have over 100 websites monitored on it and it works well.

Pros:

Replaces several services with one integrated offering. Really good for PHP based frameworks like Laravel and CraftCMS but can work with anything. Love the regular Lighthouse reports to monitor ,movements in front-end performance over time.

Cons:

I've had some weird false positives but to be honest it happens with all monitoring applications. It's also a little pricey but you get what you pay for :)

Perfect for 90% of monitoring needs

Generally excellent. Well-made, highly reliable and well-priced for the feature set it comes with. It's easy for my team to get going with as well as it's nicely designed and they've gone with a small, curated set of features (rather than chucking everything in).

Pros:

So many monitoring systems are either massive overkill and overkill, or half-baked and insufficient. OhDear sits perfectly in the middle and is a well-designed, fantastic monitoring system that's perfect for a lot of sites and apps. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, and for my firm there's still a place for expensive tools such as Datadog, but for the majority of use-cases OhDear is about perfect.

Cons:

Almost nothing, really. For large complex products we can't *only* use OhDear as we sometimes also need things like automated multi-step browser tests, but for 80% of what we do OhDear is excellent.

We chose both. We use OhDear for a lot of our clients who don't need sophisticated, heavyweight services.

Reasons for switching to Oh Dear

OhDear is simply better. The pricing is more sensible, especially since Pingdom's acquisition by Solarwinds, and the features and design is far better.

Really easy to set up and many monitoring features that cover everything we need.

Cons:

The interface is a bit buggy and the status page lacks some feature (email subscription, link between an update and a service, ...)

Pros:

It has a really sleek interface compared to the competition. It is just really nice to use. Also I like the feature set. It as everything you need, both for websites and for individual services. Oh, and it is super reliable.

Cons:

Not much to dislike. It is a very focused tool doing a job really well. The only thing is that the integrations for PHP seem to be better then the ones for TS or Python. But that has not been a problem for us.

Pros:

The clean UI, the Statistics and the Status Pages are great for me.

Cons:

I am using the Email and Pushover to receaving notifications and the Pushover app sometimes not working or lagging to send me the notifications. Perhaps if you create an official app of the Oh Dear, it works better than Pushover app.

I've used several website monitoring tools over the years, and OhDear is by far the easiest and most robust. We use OhDear to monitor our client sites, broken links, DNS, SSL certs, lighthouse speeds, and more. Their API is just as powerful.

Cons:

I have no dislikes. The only thing that I would like to see is the ability to monitor script tags in source code. For example, if a Google Analytics tag goes missing.

I love the many different checks available, it was ahead of the game when it launched and keeps improving. I also like grouping my sites, and the many notifications and their in-depth customisability

Cons:

It only seems to check the homepage of the site. It would be great to be able to check multiple pages without using up more of the site limit, for up time of crucial pages

Does what we need with minimal fuss

We switched from another provider because it became overly complicated to use and wasn't performing as we wanted. Plus costs were increasing that we couldn't justify. Oh Dear was refreshing because it just does what we want/need without unnecessary bloat. So often platforms constantly add features and functionality causing unwanted distractions as a customer. Oh Dear does the things we want whilst remaining simple to use and using up minimal time. We run a couple of accounts for multiple projects and have no reason to look elsewhere.
