RoomSketcher is a cloud-based home design & floor plan drafting tool for Mac, Windows, and iPad users. Available in English, Danish, German, Norwegian, and Swedish, this tool is geared toward real estate, interior design, property development, and management professionals. It’s used by tech-savvy homeowners and makers or sellers of furniture, fixtures, and fittings.

RoomSketcher lets users draw floor plans themselves, or they can rely on the developer’s white-glove service instead. The tool can produce crisp 2D floor plans in black and white, featuring built-in measurements and the option to upload blueprints to use as templates.

Users can also opt for 3D floor plans with branding, disclaimers, and texture variations for home design and remodeling projects. To showcase real estate projects, show homes, and furniture layouts, they can also add 3D photos, simulations, and virtual walkthroughs. Interior Designer uses Room Sketcher with every project.

The program is great to show a client the overall idea for furniture layouts. The 3D option really shows my client what my vision is for the room. Room Sketcher is an easy program to learn to use.

Pros:

I have used Room Sketcher for about 9 years now. It is easy to draw floorplans and drop furniture in. It is great for determining size of furniture and space planning.

Cons:

I would like to have more options with using an actual furniture piece in a space. To be able to download the piece. More traditional art and accessories. Lots of modern look, traditional looks are harder to create with this program.

Easy-to-Use Design Tool with Clean, Client-Ready Sketches

Overall, I would recommend RoomSketcher to kitchen cabinet companies. While I could use more advanced software with greater customization for the annual cost, the easy-to-use platform and responsive customer support keep me happy.

I love RoomSketcher’s easy-to-use interface and the clean design concept sketches I can share with my customers.

Cons:

Limited customization. For example, customers love seeing handles on their kitchen cabinets, and unless I manually place a block on each door, that isn’t an option.

Reasons for choosing RoomSketcher

Ease of use and initial price point, but with our current workload, the cost is now comparable to more advanced options.

Good customer support

Overall I am satisfied with the product considering what the cost is. There are certainly more robust solutions, but for a relatively polished model to show customers it works for what I need for now.

Pros:

It's a fairly intuitive software and can be useful in sharing and collaborating with clients on ideas. I had issues with the sharing feature and the customer service team helped resolve it in about one business day.

Cons:

The inability to view the 3D models on a mobile device is a definite down side. Some of the "snap in place" movement that the platform does when moving components around a model don't "snap" to where you'd actually want something, which then takes a lot more time to find a work around to place things where you actually want them. I also don't care for the credit system of sharing models. After paying the annual fee you have to pay more to be able to share models. Everyone HATES to be nickel and dimed. I already paid, don't make me hate it.

RoomSketcher is intuitive, fast, and visually accurate. It allows me to create realistic floor plans and 3D designs without complex CAD tools. The drag-and-drop system, large furniture catalog, and quick 3D rendering make it perfect for interior design and hospitality projects. It’s a great balance between professional output and user-friendly simplicity.

Cons:

Rendering large projects can take a bit longer, and some advanced customization options (like lighting and materials) are limited to premium plans. However, these are minor compared to the overall value and ease of use.

Reasons for switching to RoomSketcher

I switched to RoomSketcher because it’s much easier to use and faster for creating professional floor plans and 3D visualizations. Unlike more complex design tools, RoomSketcher doesn’t require technical training and allows me to focus on the creative and presentation aspects of my projects. It’s perfect for real estate and hospitality work, where speed, clarity, and visual impact are essential.

Cons:

limited to interior design, a roof cannot be added and need credit to be able to print in 3D even if we have a subscription

A Product I Will Recommend to Others

I had a free one-on-one session with one of their reps to help me get started. I sat in a webinar that gave a ton of tips & tricks. Their AI tools actually work & make the design process so much quicker!!!

I'm able to create a professional-looking 3D floorplan in about 20 min. Their human customer support has been perfect. Their AI support actually worked & gave me a link to a YouTube video that showed me how to use a feature.

Cons:

Room Sketcher has a copy/paste function, but it would be nice to be able to copy & paste multiple items like furniture.

RoomSketcher is an intuitive software tool with a remarkably low learning curve. The frequent updates to furniture and product libraries are outstanding, and the 2D and 3D features are essential in helping our clients clearly visualize their space. The customer support team is consistently helpful and thorough. Overall, it’s an exceptional value for the money.

Cons:

To date, I haven’t experienced any disadvantages or issues with this impressive software tool. I’m truly pleased to offer the 2D and 3D renderings to clients. They’ve become an invaluable part of our design process.

The cost and customer support are the top two things I like about this software. Room sketcher is very user friendly and easy to navigate through all the different tools and options.

Cons:

You cannot see the detailed 3D final views until you make the snapshots and use credits. It would be nice to be able to edit the countertops for an overhang on a kitchen island for seating.

Reasons for switching to RoomSketcher

The yearly cost was too high to maintain.

Superb software for 2D and 3D professional floor plans

So far it has been perfect for my requirements. I would recommend it to other users looking to produce professional 2D and 3D floor plans.

Good, except for the fact that it requires more in-app purchases to continue using, even after paying the subscription.

It is easy to shift walls, and placing furniture helps visualise the rooms better. The 3d view can be useful.

Cons:

The paid subscription still requires further purchasing of 'credits' to do more projects. It is very frustrating that this is not clearly articulated before buying the app.
