About Holistics

Holistics is a cloud based business intelligence (BI) application with integrated data reporting and preparation tools. The application works in a SQL-based environment and allows businesses to connect multiple SQL databases, run ad-hoc queries, predict trends and visualize data.

With Holistics, data analysts only need to script reports once. The system automatically creates reports on a periodic basis for regular queries. The reports generated are customizable and the data within these reports can be configured as needed.

Holistics' dashboard combines and visualizes data from multiple reports using dynamic charts and graphs. The email scheduler feature sends reports and dashboard snapshots to users on a periodic basis. Additionally, it provides tools to set alerts for threshold events, report issues and send reports to external users via a shareable link.

Holistics is available on a monthly subscription basis.

Well priced cloud self-serve analytics and BI tool

- Enabled stakeholder access to data via self-serve, reduced data team BAU burden and allowed us to focus on higher value task- Works well with the Modern Data Stack paradigm- Great in our requirement discovery phase, when we weren't sure what kind of regular dashboards would be needed. Allowed stakeholders/users to do the first level of requirement discovery via their own self-serve, and iterated on that afterwards.

- Reasonable pricing per-user, good for data democratisation initiatives- Self-serve tooling and data set are more flexible than most competitors, while remaining quite reliable- Very easy to set up and connect to data warehouse, with dbt and git integrations- Team regularly releases new features

Cons:

- Access control are less granular than the big enterprise products- Covers the majority of basic data visualisations, but highly customised visualisations are more difficult (via custom Vega viz)

Great product which keeps improving

We switched from PowerBI to Holistics for reporting needs about a year ago and have been thrilled with the choice. It's much easier to securely share data with third parties via password-protected shareable links. Integrating alerts via slack has been a breeze. The pricing is also quite reasonable for everything offered.

The platform is built for flexibility and constantly evolving. The [sensitive content hidden] genuinely solicit user feedback and incorporate it into their roadmap.

Cons:

There are a few UI difficulties. These are minor, but can be a bit frustrating at times.

When it works, it can work like a charm.

Cons:

The web UI. Oh my its one of the least usable UI / Web I have yet encountered. Buttons are unresponsive. Things needed done are nested deep and imagine having to traverse unresponsive elements. I have always complain to my boss on why some reports are not being tended to, Ill simply say its unusable how are you to expect me to work

Pros:

The price of Holistics is very good compared to their competitors, some being 10x the cost but would not deliver 10x the value. The team at Holistics is very friendly and always open to feedback, which we really liked. They are always looking to improve their product and get community and key customer feedback into their product. I like that they provide a single place for you to model your data and the interface for modelling (both Code and Visual) allow for good flexibility in creating what you want to do.

Cons:

Holistics is missing a few key features which does make it a little harder to use than other systems. This can mean additional work or complexity when trying to do something quite complex within Holistics e.g. Role Playing Dimensions or cross model calculations.

We switched from Google Data Studio (now Looker Studio) as the visualisations were bad and management of data was also bad.

Fantastic BI tool with the best price-to-value ratio on the market

We have been able to use Holistics to promote a self-service data culture across the whole company. All business teams are actively making use of Holistics. Marketing teams use Holistics every day to monitor marketing performance and aid decisions on campaign optimizations and lead attribution. Our finance team uses it to track all unit metrics for operations of the business, from recurring revenue, churn to retention. We basically cover everything with Holistics. It's the only BI tool we have.

Pros:

1) The data modeling as-code is great. It saves a lot of time and it helped us migrate from one data warehouse to another. Modifying SQL syntax is easy and it helped save a lot of time. 2) Business users can easily explore from existing dashboards to answer their own questions. This solved our data exploration limitation faced with Data Studio. 3) Overall cadence of feature releases is impressive as well as customer support and reliability of the product.

Cons:

The only thing we are missing is the management of dashboards as code as it would help speed up the development and lower the maintenance time needed for that part of Holistics (I understand this feature is about to be released in Beta soon).

Either due to high price point (Looker/ThoughtSpot), missing features (Mode), or low user-friendliness (Tableau).

Reasons for switching to Holistics

Data Studio for dashboarding was sufficient, but it was blocking us from doing ad-hoc and exploratory analyses more easily. Also data governance features are quite limited in Data Studio.

Excellent BI tool for customers looking for a budget Looker alternative

Holistics has successfully become part of the fabric of our business, underpinning our efforts to become data driven while offering good value for money for the number of users and representing a low TCO due to low admin overhead.Coming from a Looker background, I was very familiar with its concepts of analytics-as-code, and generally we have been able to achieve everything we needed in terms of reporting. The experience can lack the polish of Looker but this is definitely fuller featured than Looker in its early days.

Holistics is the Next Big BI Tool

Holistics makes building 3rd party reports very efficient. It took me 2 hours to build the same report in Holistics that I took 16 hours to build in Tableau. Also re-using that report in Holistics takes about 5 button clicks whereas Tableau would take many more steps. The tool is very extensible and reduces repetition. I am excited to see continued growth.

Simple setup and many options to connect your data source. The UI for building reports is extremely user friendly and also allows dynamic inputs. The data model feature is amazing: makes it easy for us to manipulate fields and transform data prior to report generation. Embed options are critical for our business and Holistics provides a great solution! Reports are repeatable with little additional effort - build and reuse is very straightforward. Overall this tool provides everything you get with other BI solutions while also being smarter, more efficient, and more extensible. They did an amazing job of building a user friendly solution that allows power users to leverage their SQL skills to make the perfect reports. Creating filters and the cross-filter options Holistics provides is a MASSIVE WIN! Removes the headache of building filters that work across an entire dashboard.

Cons:

Design options are very minimal, you do not have any control really over the design. Some reports provide different color options, but generally the ability to brand your reports is very limited.

I wanted to rebuild a dashboard I made in Tableau, and did this in a few different tools. Holistics was the most user-friendly, they support technical pass throughs for SQL, we achieved the desired result in a fraction of the time it took in Tableau. Embed options with Holistics are perfect and the support team has been awesome!

Reasons for switching to Holistics

Tableau has been a horrible experience. - The reporting setup is not user friendly, and editing SQL is still required in many cases. This is impossible to maintain as you would need to manage every single join view anytime the DB schema changes and remember which reports have direct SQL adjustments... the data model in Holistics centralizes this and makes it easy to manage - The customization in Tableau is limitless, while this is great if you want full control, it actually creates a TON more work for the end users. Just getting a page to look and act the way you want it to requires a ton of time and experience in using the tool NOT USER FRIENDLY - Support tickets were not resolved.... cases drag 5-10+ weeks, these timelines are not sustainable for a business

As an analytics engineer, I was looking for a tool that allowed me a lot of data modeling flexibility and reusability. With AML, Holistics does a good job of being able to define data models and relationships using code.As a user and data consumer, I liked how intuitive it was to set up good looking dashboards with interactive features and simple row-level security policies.

Cons:

Holistics doesn't feel "fully baked" yet and has some rough edges. I'm really looking forward to some of the more advanced parameterization and modeling features that are expected to be released with AMQL later this year. I'd also like to see some more visualization options.

Reliable and User Friendly

We have several products competing for engineering resources, and having a product like Holistics saves us the time from building the reports and dashboards ourselves. The fact that it has a robust scheduled delivery feature, we always start our morning with reading our product metrics delivered to us via Slack and e-mail.

Easy setup, Intuitive drag and drop UI, schedules report delivery, and most of all the world class support team

Cons:

Occasional edge-case bugs, mostly visual. However, they are always addressed quickly and sufficient workarounds are suggested while they are being looked into.

Easy to use software bringing BI to everyone

We started working with Holistics as an alternative to powerBI and with the support of the Holistics crew we managed to get an extensive set of reports and dashboard up in no time. The option to email reports to multiple users is very handy.

Pros:

It's really easy to setup and within minutes you have reports and dashboards that you can easily distribute. The support from the Holistics team is great, if you have questions or feature requests they respond quickly.

Cons:

It is not as extensive as some other products but for most users this wont be an issue. What you do have to keep in mind is that the queries are ran on your server so it can give some pressure on your DB.
