About Google Voice

Google Voice is a cloud-based business phone system that provides users with a unique contact number to receive international calls, send text messages and transcribe voicemails, streamlining communications across the organization. The application allows businesses to centralize activities such as number assignment, porting and billing on the G Suite Admin console.

Key features of Google Voice include usage reporting, call forwarding, private branch exchange (PBX) and contact management. It comes with an automated attendant, which lets users transfer calls to other extensions without requiring an intermediate operator. Additionally, users can configure system settings to automatically block spam calls and manage text messages across various devices.

Google Voice facilitates integration with other applications of G Suite such as Hangouts Meet, Google Calendar and more. Pricing is available on monthly subscriptions and support is extended via phone and other online measures.

Free and Fabulous

4

It was super easy to set up, I like that I can send the call info to my email for tracking. Thrilled that it has texting available and that it's consistent. Love that its free.

Pros:
Value for money. I just started a small business and provided I dont send messages that look like spam or duplicates, I have very few issues. It's been very helpful!
Cons:
It can be a little clunky. It doesnt show on my phone whether its a normal call or gvoice call and that can be a little stressful. Also, the web interface doesnt have emoji's, which for a regular business would be fine, but I deal with weddings and a certain number of heart emojis is expected.

Reasons for choosing Google Voice

Budget. This has the most features and the lowest budget out of everything I looked at and interfaces with my entire setup.

My Go to is Google voice.

5

Overall experience with Google voice has been amazing, I've had the same phone number through them for a few years now and it's helped me be able to manage everything even when I didn't have a regular cell phone number.

Pros:
What I like most about Google voice is that you get all the features of a regular phone number for free with Google voice's virtual phone number, mostly the ability to receive verification codes
Cons:
What I like least about Google voice isn't necessarily directed at Google voice but at other websites or programs that won't accept the Google voice phone number because it is VoIP.

Reasons for switching to Google Voice

Because I needed assistance with accessing my verification codes and text now charged 99 cents each time I would need to receive a verification code which was adding up to a lot of money. Google voice provides me that feature for free.

A-must have for Small Business Owners/Entrepreneurs

Overall I had a good experience with Google Voice. It is important to know the fine print, especially understanding the inactive time. However, being able to pick my own number was great and using the different features made communicating with my clients very easy!

I appreciated the ease and versatility of Google Voice. It was super easy to begin the process, especially since I already have a Google email address. Picking different plans was also great because you can choose based on your budget and desired functions.
Cons:
I was least fond of the period when the number was cut off due to inactivity. I wished the period was longer since I was fresh in my business.

Reasons for choosing Google Voice

I liked the option of having the 800 number that incorporated my business name.

Google Voice is a decent, cheap option in the short run

4

Overall my experience with Google Voice has been mostly positive. It accomplishes the basic task of keeping private numbers private, but it is not a perfect solution. It leaves a lot to be desired.

Pros:
Google voice is a great option for employees who don't want to give their personal phone number away in the course of business and don't have access to a work phone number.
Cons:
It can be hard to search people, so if they don't text you first and you don't save their name/number, it's going to be difficult to find the conversation you are looking for.

Great Tool For Concealing Your Real Number But Still Allowing You To Get Calls and Texts To Your Real Phone

5

I really enjoy Google Voice. It values privacy and doesn't require you to share your real phone number with someone you want to set boundaries with or if there is a power imbalance.

Ratings Breakdown

5
Ease of use
5
Functionality
icon
Pros:
It allows you to create a second phone number and tie it to your personal cell phone so that you can avoid giving your real phone number out when you only need to communicate with someone briefly. Additionally, it is very easy to delete and unlink the number to your phone when you no longer need it.
Cons:
Sometimes, the area code of your number isn't the same area code you are residing in. This makes it harder for people to believe that is your real number. Additionally, it isn't always clear how you are charged for using your Google Voice number.
