Pros:

Bolster is customizable to many styles of estimating. The customer support just keeps geting better. [sensitive content hidden] has always been so responsive and really makes sure you understand a concept before letting you go. They are open to suggestions to improve the system, with having their development team in house.

Cons:

I'm not an IT guy so it took me a bit to get used to. I am sure someone who is more adept at software will have no problem. The PDF format that I print out for the hardcopy is quite lengthy. Consolidation would make it easier to look through for client and crew. I would like to see the Change Order component populate as a separate summary from the originally signed estimate. That way the client and crew doesn't have to sift throught the entire original estimate to find the changes.

Good overall, just need some improvemets

the support team at Bolster is very responsive and they work hard to resolve system glitches. We have been using Bolster for a couple of years and though not perfect, it has been helpful for our company to have and it is worth a try!

Pros:

Bolster’s estimating software has many useful tools, and when building an estimate, we have ENDLESS options including a prebuilt library of items we can edit to fit our needs. Before this we used QuickBooks for sending quotes, so this has been a nice step up and we have not regretted it!

Cons:

With that said, there are some hassles we’ve learned to navigate when creating a proposal; when clicking the “clear changes” button, just know it will get rid of ALL work including anything saved, and when changing the theme (cover photo) of an estimate - while inside the preview layout - it will automatically change it on ALL other proposals currently using that same theme, without warning. A few other tricky features that we encountered: internal messages from prospective clients can be easily overlooked and once read, the notification seems to stay on, the processing company (Plaid) used for ACH invoice payments require personal banking information that our customers feel is too invasive, we prefer to send our own review requests after we completing a job instead of Bolster’s automatic surveys that are sent to our clients (this can be turned off, if requested). With any software program, there are unpredictable bugs that have halted our progress at times, requiring some flexibility on our part.

I liked the idea of the software; however, they never finished setting up my software to allow me to use it. They would not provide a refund, so my experience felt like a total scam.

Cons:

Inability to get the roofing and bathroom estimating templates created. They did not finish the templates for me to use them.

We love Bolster here in Alaska

We have been using Bolster for over a year now. We absolutely love it. The first couple months bids will be slow as your building up your items & assemblies. But once that's done, bids get a lot faster.

Our customers love the format that allows them to selection different options for items i.e. plumbing fixtures, flooring types etc.

Cons:

Having a lot of issues with the new updated version. But Bolster has been working with me diligently to correct them as they come up. It's all part of updating things.

Started as a trial, then signed up for a year!

These guys went over and beyond to prove the value of the software. They saw I was just getting started and helped tremendously. I can honestly say customers impressions of my bids have landed more jobs. If you understand excel this tool has more uses than one can imagine.

price is a high, we only is the estimating feature. Some of our assemblies we've built and inputted all the pricing have not been accurate when presenting with clients
