Neo.Tax is automating taxes for startups and small businesses, starting with the R&D Tax Credit.

Businesses can quickly and easily check if they are eligible for this tax credit. If they are, they can prepare their claim on their own or be guided by the Neo.Tax team all in under 30 minutes.

The simple and quick process has not compromised accuracy. This is reflected in the founding team where the brain of a former IRS agent and 20+ year CPA is being automated by a Stanford Ph.D. and productized by a former Intel product manager.

Great value compared to competitors. Great support team too.

It was awesome because they helped get us a nice tax credit, which more than paid for the service they provide. They taught us so much about R&D credits. We actually use their suggestions when doing our books now. Now, with just a few clicks, we can apply for new credits every year.

Pros:

I think they do a good job helping business determine what spend can be used when applying for tax credits. We are a a tech company, and after going through the online questionnaire, and following up with the support team at Neo.Tax, we determined my company was eligible for a decent sized tax credit, which they helped me apply for. They also offer an app that connects to our Quickbooks Online, which makes reviewing our books easier (for R&D credits).

Cons:

I didn't find any real flaws with the software, but even if I was confused at certain parts, I always got excellent support from Neo.Tax CS team.

Neo.Tax - R&D

After meeting with customer support and gathering information from our team, I had some changes that we had to make before submitting our final application and customer support made that process very easy. I let them know the changes and they got everything updated, walked me through what I needed to do and voila!

Pros:

Fairly easy to complete most of the information on my own without assistance from customer support.

Cons:

I was not able to import my payroll information on my own. I had to set up a meeting with customer support for their assistance. They were very helpful, shared a screen, spreadsheet, etc to get all my information entered.
