About Bot Manager

Bot Manager, part of the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform, designed to protect web applications against sophisticated bots. It uses supervised and unsupervised deep learning algorithms to identify and respond to malicious bot traffic. Bot Manager can integrate with other Akamai solutions including distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection and web application firewall (WAF) for more comprehensive security.

Bot Manager can analyze various browser and device signals and compare them to legitimate human behavior. This solution projects entire sites, including registration, login, product, and marketing pages as well as native mobile applications. Additionally, Bot Manager provides granular reporting via dashboards with high-level views of bot traffic and other data.

Pricing is provided on request by Akamai Technologies. Support is available via phone, email, and other resources.

Who do you trust?

It is positive since we are talking about the best product on the market for this category. It is not comparable with others: you can easily monitor (in real time) what is happening on your website and decide what trusts and what blocks.

Pros:

You have visibility and control over who is accessing your website/application. Thanks to the Web Security Analytics view, in real-time, you can see and evaluate the traffic on your properties, and analyze eventually BOT accessing your websites. Leveraging the automatic categorization of the BOT done by the product (automatic and always updated), you can easily block specific groups avoiding useless traffic on your website. At the same time, thanks to the possibility to personalize the configuration, you can allow/block specific requests based on some parameters (URL, User Agent, cookie...). With BOT Manager, you are protected from BOTS launching credential stuffing attacks, exploiting logic vulnerabilities, and scraping content and pricing information.

Cons:

I do not see cons to the product. The only limit is that you can use the product only if your website is served by Akamai CDN. Bot Manager cannot be configured on websites not delivered via Akamai.
