Smart platform and fantastic advisors

We've been using Normative for over a year now and are just in the middle of collecting a third year of carbon data. As a company, we have a big mix of data sources and platforms so I've found the Normative templates have made the process far smoother in getting data in from across the regions. I really like the way the platform is laid out and the snapshot dashboard views, which I can simply filter to the categories I am interested in and send screenshots of the impact to regional leadership teams and office managers to highlight what work needs to be done. I also cant talk highly enough of the analysts I have worked with who have advised me on the best data sources to look into and where I could make improvements. The SBTi process was also brilliant and i am so grateful to have had their support.

Pros:

The platform itself is very user friendly and well designed - we can use the graphs and charts straight out of the platform for presentations and reports. The templates for data entry are easy to use and understand, we've had no issues getting the neccessaary data in for our global business and the upload process has been seemless. I also like the AI features which give an immediate vkew of emissions before the data goes to QA so we can draw some insight straight away. We used Normative's SBTi service to support us in successfully validating out net-zero targets. This was incredibly helpful and I really believe would not have been possible without the sypport from Normative and our analyst.

Cons:

The platforms listens to feedback and makes a lot of improvements for an easier experience, but the updates can get a bit confusing if dashboards change or the location of items changes.

Reasons for choosing Normative

Preferred the look of the platform and had good SBTi and CSRD functionality. Was also impressed by the knowledge of the people we met.

User-friendly carbon accounting platform

Normative has a strong focus on providing a software solution for the carbon accounting or in CSRD speech the E1 part of ESG. It is not a one-in-all solution like many other solution providers, but that is what we wanted. They continuously work on great new product features helping their customers.

Solid tool for tracking our climate data

My overall experience is very positive. Normative provides a structured way to handle our carbon accounting, giving valuable insights into our emissions, particularly within the complex Scope 3. It is a reliable tool that keeps developing and making reporting and insights better over time. I also want to highlight the support from Normative's Climate Strategy Advisors, which adds significant value and has been a great asset in our work.

The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, which lowers the threshold for working with our climate data. I appreciate that the tool is continuously updated with new and better features. It also helps us automate the carbon calculations that would otherwise be manual, and feeling reassured that the calculations have a scientific basis.

Cons:

The reporting features are good, but I would appreciate even more flexibility to customize reports for different internal needs without having to export data.

What I appreciate most about Normative is the close collaboration and support we’ve received. Cons:

Normative is continuously evolving and launching new features, which is fantastic for progress. However, this can sometimes feel overwhelming for colleagues who don’t use the platform regularly, as it requires time to get familiar with the updates. For daily users like me, the platform is intuitive and user-friendly, but for occasional users, the learning curve can be a challenge.

User-friendly platform with dedicated climate strategy advisors

Normative offers a platform that is in continuous development to ensure the best user experience. Having a dedicated climate strategy advisor has helped us in all aspects of the climate accounting with everything from urgent questions to long-term planning.

Pros:

Normative offers dedicated guidance throughout the process from planning, data collection, and analysis, to review of methodology. There are oftentimes updates to the platform in line with customer requests. We have only been met with flexibility when planning around stricter deadlines. The platform is also very comprehensive when it comes to auditing and methodology where one is allowed to export full datasets and reports.

Cons:

Without having tried an alternative, I can say that Normative is on top of things and the demands that customers have in terms of data, emission factors, and reduction potentials. The templates do require some manual data processing but this also ensures one to be on top of the data.

Years back, we started to work with Normative on the spend-based calculation of our emissions from purchased goods and services, and now we report our full carbon footprint in the platform. The tool has developed rapidly over the past couple of years and continues to improve anticipating the customers’ needs. With Normative, we were able to make a shift from heavy annual Excel reporting to a more frequent and easier reporting on a quarterly basis. Lean, intuitive, and user-friendly platform interface and structure, solid expertise in both climate and IT, and constant support and instant feedback from Normative climate strategy advisors and solutions engineers made this journey exciting, smooth, and fun. Engaging in discussions to understand our needs and develop the best possible solution, asking for feedback, piloting, following-up and learning together – that’s a living example of customer focus.

Cons:

When new features are being implemented, it sometimes impacts the current overview of results (e.g., project naming and data allocation to different projects). Also, the data re-upload process can be tricky sometimes – at the moment, it can be difficult to track which data has been processed already and which is still in progress.
