It shines where competitors fail.

9 out of 10. I recommend it over the other popular brands. If you don't like a subscription system VivaDesigner is definitely a product for you.

Pros:

It's truly a multiplatform tool. It's fairly easy to use, the interface is intuitive and simple enough to be mastered in a few hours of poking. Their customer support is hard to beat.

Cons:

It lacks an updated manual, and the video tutorial is in German. It can be translated but it's a bit inconvenient to use.

Pros:

Seit vielen Jahren arbeite ich als Designer im Printbereich, layoute Zeitschriften, Broschüren etc. Als Adobe 2013 auf das Abo-Modell umgestellt hat, habe ich mich nach Alternativen umgesehen - und diese in VivaDesigner gefunden. Ich erhalte ein vollwertiges, zuverlässiges Layoutprogramm mit sehr intelligenten Detail-Lösungen. Auch interssant: Neben den gängigen Betriebssystemen wird auch Linux per Appimage unterstützt. Der Preis für die Software ist mehr als angemessen.

Cons:

Für künftige Versionen kann ich mir noch einige Detail-Verbesserungen vorstellen, die die Arbeit beschleunigen könnten. Da man bei Viva aber einen recht direkten Kontakt zu den Entwicklern hat, kann man Wünsche, Anregungen etc unkompliziert rückmelden.

Great Layout Software

I have been working with Viva for several years, switching over from using Adobe Indesign for many years before. I use Viva mainly for creating: Product Labels, Posters, Signs, Banners, Flyers and Booklets. For me it's by far the best alternative to Indesign, especially on Linux! I am especially encouraged about the amazing customer support. I have never experienced before, that I could have direct mail- or phone contact with the developer himself. Many of my suggestions of improvements for the software were taken serious and put into practice. Sometimes even just the day after. That is amazing! As usual, you have to get used to a slightly different workflow, switching over from another software, but over all I'd say that it's very easy and intuitive to use. The software developers are very friendly, active and professional and I hope that the few features which are still missing in my eyes or are not working well enough will also be fixed or added soon.

Three top points that I like the most about Viva is: - Available on Linux - Inexpensive and no monthly fee - Top Customer's service

Cons:

- A few basic features are still missing or could be improved. E.g.: Feather Edge Effect

Reasons for switching to VivaDesigner

I work on Linux and I did not want to pay a monthly fee for my software. Scribus and I did not get along with each other too well either.
