About EmailOctopus

EmailOctopus is an email marketing software that helps businesses design, launch and manage personalized email campaigns using customizable templates and the drag-and-drop editor. Organizations can use the automation functionality to schedule time-based onboarding and drip sequence campaigns for sending welcome emails or sharing newsletters and offers.

EmailOctopus allows marketers to embed custom forms into existing websites to collect customer information and add pop-up forms to turn more visitors into subscribers. The platform lets administrators categorize and store subscribers’ data in a repository and send emails to contacts based on gender, age, location or other preferences. Contacts can also be segmented by campaign activity. Additionally, managers can gain insight into the performance of campaigns by tracking open, click and bounce rate through reports and analytics.

EmailOctopus supports integration with various third-party applications such as Salesforce, SurveyMonkey, Shopify, Eventbrite and more through Zapier. Pricing includes monthly subscriptions based on the number of subscribers and support is extended via FAQs, an online help desk, email and live chat.

This is the perfect addition to any business toolbox if you're trying to grow an email list.

I uploaded a brand new list to Email Octopus with subs who downloaded a reader magnet and within twenty minutes I had a campaign that was easy and simple to set up, and a multiple email automation based on triggers and subscriber actions. From upload to send in 20 minutes. It's that easy, and deliverability was great. The interface is very intuitive, and though I haven't used it, help was available for the asking at every step.

Pros:

Simple and easy to set up, we use Email Octopus to parse new email subs from multiple lists and give them an automation sequence. It took less than 5 minutes to upload a list, and another 10 to set up a multi-touchpoint email automation. Super affordable, and easy to scale too.

Cons:

The intial 2500 sub limit was considered a detraction for us when we first started, since a lot of our lead gen magnets attract a lot of subs who only want the freebie. I wish there were "industry specific" limits.

I like that it has been an easy switch from Mailchimp. It is way more affordable, and I like that there are real people behind the company. Every time I have emailed about something I have received a thoughtful reply and they have even implemented one of my requests as a new function for emails. I am happy with the automations, and the way that I can segment my subscribers. I also really enjoy their emails, and actually open and read them. Thank you for not sending them too often. Just overall a happy customer.

Cons:

I'm not sure. I have sent feedback before about adding some additional functions to templates but off the top of my head I can't remember what those were anymore.

Reasons for switching to EmailOctopus

Mailchimp was too expensive and had limited functions.

Pros:

I really like how simple and straightforward EmailOctopus is to use. The platform feels clean and uncluttered, so it’s easy to build and send campaigns without faffing around. It integrates well with the tools I already use, and I’ve found the automation features surprisingly capable for a platform at this price point. Overall, it’s a reliable option that makes day-to-day email marketing feel effortless.

Cons:

The main drawback for me is that some of the design and segmentation features feel a bit limited compared to larger platforms. It does the basics well, but it can feel restrictive when you want to create more advanced workflows or detailed audience segments. A few parts of the interface also feel slightly dated, and I’d love to see more built-in templates.

Highly Recommend EmailOctopus

I'm beyond satisfied with the look of my newletters, tech support, and I've even been able to segment my own lists because the directions were so clear.

I found it easy to learn and use—very intuitive. Also, customer support is excellent. This was a huge factor for me because my previous service was not helpful. They spoke in tech terms. I'm an author and need to handle my website myself. EmailOctopus is phenomenal.

Cons:

I don't have any complaints. EmailOctopus has everything I need for my author newsletter and book launch team communications. I get compliments on how nice my newsletters look. I'm very pleased.

I asked questions to live support and got immediate friendly responses from Paul. I was sold.

Reasons for switching to EmailOctopus

I won't recommend them. Their response to my tech support requests were slow and when they did come, I couldn't understand the "techy" language and had to get my own help from friends who were more tech savvy then me. I find all the support in the knowledge base that I've used easy to understand. I've been able to set up my own segmented lists to cull my contacts and to set up landing pages etc. on my own. It's only me here as an author trying to manage my own newsletter list. EmailOctopus is fabulous!

Excellent free option for getting started

A great way to get started with building your list - for free! I have tried many email marketing providers and this is by far my favourite. Because they are so generous with their free plan and don't keep asking me to upgrade every time I try to do something on the portal (eg. Aweber etc), I feel that I want to upgrade and as soon as I build my list, I will do.

I can get started with my list for free, with great delivery rates, good templates, and an easy to use dashboard.

Cons:

I'd like a few more options, such as rss blog option when writing my newsletter, but it could be that I am on limited options due to the free plan so I'm not complaining.

I had tried Kit in the past and the customer support was slow and not very good.

Reasons for switching to EmailOctopus

Aweber's interface was pretty poor and every time I tried to click on the previous week's newsletter I got an upgrade page.

The Only Email Platform That Didn’t Drive Me Crazy

As a product manager building out a lean marketing stack, I’ve tried a lot of email platforms — and EmailOctopus has quickly become one of my favorites. The UI is clean, intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes managing campaigns feel effortless. One standout feature that sold me? They let you use their physical address for compliance — a huge relief for solo founders or freelancers who don’t want to publish their home address to meet email regulations. Support has been responsive and helpful whenever I’ve had questions, and the platform feels thoughtfully designed from both a technical and UX perspective.

Cons:

The only downside? It’s a bit lesser known than some competitors, so I had to spend more time setting up HTTP GET/PULL requests and integrations compared to more mainstream tools. But once I got through the initial setup, it’s been smooth sailing.

Simplicity at it's best

I've been using it for a few months now, and it's brilliant! The customer service team are really helpful and responsive, and the programme itself has made sending out interactive, optimised emails a dream. It's also very reasonably priced for what you get. I'm very happy to have stumbled upon it.

It's very user-friendly and simplifies setting up my brand identity as I can save bespoke colours and logos to use week on week. I don't feel overly restricted with design, and there are always new features being released that help and inspire me to create more interesting emails.

Cons:

I would like to be able to change my default settings so that I don't have to remember to untick/tick certain options before I release a campaign. I would also like slightly more flexibility with image placement.

Reasons for choosing EmailOctopus

Pricing alongside the charity discount made it very affordable, and the fact that I can send tailored emails with my designs and bespoke colours was a huge tick as well. Something like MailChimp is excessive for my school's needs, and EmailOctopus is a great in-between.

Great experience from the start

We tried out EO to see how it worked. We were looking for speed and flexibility and we found it. Our overall experience has been great. We've seen good results from our first email with EO and are planning more campaigns based on those results.

I love the ease with which I can navigate this platform. No overly complicated processes. It's agile and serves our needs very well.

Cons:

No complaints, but a couple of recommendations: 1) show a database of all contacts along with the individual lists. Searching for a single contact is simpler when you don't have to search multiple times through multiple lists; 2) make the diagrams on the report page clickable to see each one's full report.

Sending Emails like a Pro

I love EmailOctopus, its got the same advance features as the OG software, and its more affordable, I'm also using the API to create my own integrations to our website, there is a WordPress plugin to display a form, but we did some advance integrations as well.

I like the simplicity, and the HTML email builder to code my own, the reports are easy to read, for that quick analytics to see how the campaign is going, or to check the past campaign status.

Cons:

It will be great to have multiple user account access, each with their own login details, or a agency plan.
