Game-changer for PR Pros

Overall, it's been a game changer for media distribution and understanding the ever changing landscape of Ireland's media. I've had it a year and it's my favourite tool.

The ease of use and access to hundreds of media contacts across a variety of verticals and publications. The customisation when mass pitching and ease of use in updating fields

Cons:

Can be clunky when editing text in the box, errors and words jump around. When creating lists, you can mass add to lists, you need to go page by page, which if you forget to save, can take time

Excellent system and well maintained database of contacts

Excellent -- it's reliable and easy to use, and I feel it gets press releases and pitches to the vast majority of appropriate media targets without my having to spend ages searching for contacts myself.

A detailed, and well maintained database of media contacts and specialist lists already created that can be used right away.

Cons:

Having to manually update media lists every day, which isn't workable sometimes. Would be great if changes could be automatically made.

Reasons for switching to MediaHQ

Not happy with how well maintained the media database was. Felt like a lot of contacts were out of date and new additions were being missed.

I really can't find much fault with it, and all my cons are really just me being lazy or forgetful, so I can't blame the software for that.

Pros:

I like how easy it is to find contact details and disseminate press releases; the process is seamless. It's also a very user friendly software, it's almost foolproof.

Cons:

I would love to be able to send to more than 300 contacts in one go, and I wish there was an auto update feature for lists, where someone leaves a position, that the person who takes over the role would autopopulate into your list. This possibly exists and I just need to look harder. I'd also love a pop-up when you use a template but don't change the title, reminding you to change it. I've sent one too many with "macra template" left on them.

Stress-Free Media Outreach

From the product to the support my overall my experience with MediaHQ has been excellent. Great Tool for Reaching the Right Journalists

My overall experience with MediaHQ has been really positive. The platform is easy to use, reliable and makes a big difference in how I manage press releases day to day. Having access to an up-to-date journalist database saves so much time, and the tools for building lists and sending to multiple audiences are straightforward and efficient. I also appreciate the insights, like velocity grading, which give me instant feedback on performance. On top of that, the customer support has been excellent — quick to respond and genuinely helpful when I’ve had questions, like figuring out the best times to send releases. Since using their advice, I’ve seen more of my stories picked up and published, which is the result that matters most. Altogether, MediaHQ combines strong features with great support, and it’s become an invaluable part of my communications work.

What I like best about MediaHQ is how easy it makes the whole press release process. The journalist database is always up to date, so I don’t waste time worrying if I’m contacting the right people. Building lists is quick, and sending to multiple audiences couldn’t be simpler. I also find the velocity grading really useful. Being able to see open rates right away gives me a clear picture of what’s working and helps me judge the impact of each release. Overall, it’s reliable, time-saving and takes a lot of the stress out of PR.

Cons:

There’s very little I dislike. If I could add one feature, it would be a conversion score showing which outlets actually picked up and published a release. The velocity grading already helps with open rates, but knowing exactly where stories land would make the platform even stronger.

MediaHQ: Pros and a few Cons

It helps to circulate a press release via hundreds of grouped/listed contacts at once, also, Media HG gives an opportunity to share media contacts with colleagues and edit them together, as well as the lists of outlets.

Pros:

Without any exaggeration, I can’t imagine doing PR without MediaHQ today. It has completely removed the stress of circulating press releases and managing journalist communications. In my opinion, MediaHQ’s strongest features are: An intuitive interface An excellent contact database and search function Smart AI tools (especially the headline assistant!) And I absolutely love the browser extension — plus, your team’s quick support with it is always fantastic.

Cons:

I had to think hard to come up with anything I’d like to see improved: The need to manually update contacts — automated updates would be fantastic. Some contacts are outdated or duplicated, and researching individual journalists can be quite time-consuming. Sometimes when editing press releases directly in MediaHQ, the formatting can get distorted — for example, text spacing or symbols may appear incorrectly. And it would be amazing if the platform could show which outlets have published a release. Thank you!

Pros:

Ability to create lists to send out press releases on multiple topics. I like that the entire press release process is contained on one site and then getting the data feedback afterwards lets me learn for the next press release.

Cons:

More of a product suggestion than a con; if sending press releases to multiple lists, would it be possible for Media HQ to compare the two lists and not send duplicate press releases to contacts if they happen to be on more than one list.
