About MimeCast Email Security

MimeCast Email Security is a cloud-based solution, which enables businesses in education, manufacturing, legal, healthcare, financial services, construction and other industries to enforce information security policies, block malicious emails and track delivered conversations from within a unified platform. Managers can search for suspicious files for manual remediation and investigation according to requirements.

MimeCast Email Security helps administrators gain insights into types of targeted attacks and risky employees, export organizational cyber threat data and detect/stop spear-phishing, ransomware and impersonation. The system secures confidential information using data loss prevention (DLP) capabilities. Additionally, businesses can monitor, detect and remediate internal threats, and discard or quarantine specific emails.

MimeCast Email Security allows businesses to manage, report, and discover attack campaigns and use a centralized dashboard to monitor targeted attacks. Pricing is available on request and support is extended via phone, knowledge base, FAQs and phone.

Email filtering and Security

Mimecast helps us manage emails effectively blocking spam and other unwanted emails. It also provides as a DR solution for sending and receiving mail. As well as retrieving wrongfully deleted mail.

Pros:

MimeCast is an excellent all in one email filter and management tool. MimeCast offers great functionality to block spam and filter any unwanted emails. We use block and allow lists to our benefit for email domains. Mimecast also offers a large range of other features including large file send which is excellent for securely sending large files which may be blocked by normal email due to the size.

Cons:

Mimecast is a great tool, One issue I face with Mimecast is the size of the portal and amount of features that are similar. It can be tricky to find what you need at times.

Pros:

Mimecast is a great product overall and just works as expected. Because it is a SaaS offering, setup and config is quick and easy and the overall reliability has been everything we expected it to be. Mimecast has also continued to innovate and introduce new offerings to enhance our overall security which is key to staying ahead of the curve from our perspective.

Cons:

The only con I have with Mimecast is that the administrative console is not the easiest to navigate and is often slow. While the end user facing components are easy to use and do not require much training, the admin portal seems designed by engineers with less end-user perspective. It is also much slower to navigate than other websites.

Pros:

Mimecast has nearly eliminated phishing attacks and malware via email at our company. It has also greatly reduced spam while still allowing users to catch any false positives and get the emails they need without submitting a ticket.

Cons:

It was difficult to train users to read through the daily digest, and when some users Blocked certain senders, they didn't realize the wouldn't be able to easily receive future emails from those companies, causing frustrations

Ideal for monitoring emails and very simple setup for retrieve old emails. Integrates easily with O365 and user's can simply access their emails at anytime.

Cons:

The software every now and then with some user's has ongoing errors with client credentials when passwords are reset, annoying some users.

Overall, MimeCast is easy to use and easy to setup. I think it is a good email security provider - even though there are some glitches.

Hit And Miss

I am a user of the tool within the business - It's not perfect and I appreciate we need to have a level of security - however, the tool has too many issues for me - and I often finding myself cursing it daily.

I like that it gives me the ability to flag spam over and above just deleting it - I like that I can also access a vault of deleted files.

Cons:

It is really hit and miss in regards to spam - lots of stuff still passes through - it also does seem to catch stuff that I actually want. The app sometimes fails to load within outlook for me also at times. the release of your vaulted items is not always instant also and can have a lag on it being released.

Pros:

MimeCast has helped so much in protecting us against Impersonation attacks which were a daily problem. IT helps us block nearly 10 000 Spam mails a week. since i implemented the MimeCast services my daily hours of work have been cut back and my stress levels have lowered. There support is phenomenal which makes me forget that i am dealing with a South African support line.

Cons:

If you dont go on some training and try to setup MimeCast by yourself you will battle a bit so take up their offer on training.

Cons:

We have a 3 year contract, and they do not abide by their SLA's at all. We will be shredding the contract, and moving back to barracuda. Our email system was infiltrated 3 times in a week, even after Mimecast themselves set up the policies to prevent this. They can not support a thing, account reps dont answer, and no one responds. They just want your money for nothing in return.
