About Postmark

Postmark is an email management solution that helps businesses handle, track and streamline the delivery of emails on a centralized platform. Professionals can use the dashboard to generate administrative reports and track the total number of sent, opened, or bounced emails via actionable analytics.

Postmark comes with an activity feed, which allows organizations to filter inbound/outbound emails based on tags, delivery events or dates. Managers can track open click rates, create transactional emails and utilize the search functionality to retrieve specific information from the database. Additionally, it lets users configure access permissions and receive automated notifications about invoice bounces.

Postmark provides businesses with predefined templates for password resets, trial expirations, welcome emails, receipts, invoices, user invitations and comment notifications. Pricing is available on monthly subscriptions and support is extended via documentation and other online measures.

    It just works

    5

We primarily use Postmark to send out login information, alerts, notifications, and reports from our applications. We do not send a ton of emails out monthly, but we do send thousands a month. If they don't reach our client, that is bad for us. We were able to use industry standard packages to send through Postmark, so it was not difficult to integrate into our applications. We have a couple of cloud applications that we built from the ground up. We tried SendGrid and Mailgun and why both worked, it was more complex and really did not help if messages did not go through. With Postmark it is very quick to see what happened and why.

    Cons:
Cost is a little higher than others, but not too much.

    Reasons for choosing Postmark

It just works and it works well. Support has been there, when needed. Even during testing we were able to get support quickly and help resolve any issues we had.

    Reasons for switching to Postmark

Had too many issues with SendGrid and could not easily get help to correct them. Spent too much trying to fix something, versus working on our own products.

Superman like delivery for transactional emails

    5

I've recommended most of my clients to Postmark because they deliver emails. They are one of the best! They are currently a small company but I've tested them very well for transactional emails and never had any issues. Slightly premium from the rest of the companies but if you have the requirement for a good chunk of transactional emails, just go for it! They also have a bootstrapped start-up credit program for those who wants to some credits to start with. They give out about $75 if they think you fit their requirements for bootstrapped start-up program.

    Cons:
They don't have a 24 hours support and they take their sweet time to respond! While they do get back and I'm happy, if the support is fast, it would be fanstastic.

Postmark used to be amazing... RIP Postmark

    1

Postmark used to be amazing before it was bought by ActiveCampaign. I used to recommend it to all my friends, colleagues and clients. I no longer do. I have lost so many emails due to sneaky changes in their pricing tier without proper notice and extremely poor customer service. While they used to care about the customer most than anything, they've now become soulless, uncaring and unapologetic. RIP Postmark.

    Simple but effective email client

Postmark has improved both the look and deliverability of transactional emails in my business, and it's also simplified our email workflows and made it easier for us to analyse and resolve any issues.

    Pros:
It's really easy to build, sort, and manage your emails in Postmark. You can sort your emails into different servers, each one of which can be split into streams: broadcast and transactional are the main two, which allow you to find specific types of emails easily. Open and link tracking can also be switched on by server, so you have more control over what data you're collecting which helps with GDPR compliance. You can click into each email to see the email body itself and copy any links that have been generated. I can share my account securely with other email addresses, allowing different people within my business to review and have access to our email tools. The API is very easy to understand, allowing you to connect Postmark to other tools easily. There are so many benefits to Postmark!
    Cons:
The documentation feels a little fragmented - some things are in the official API documentation, while other things missing from the official documentation are included in blog posts or other posts within the Support Center. It would be great if they could all be in one place!

    Reasons for switching to Postmark

SendGrid's functionality was slow and confusing, but most importantly, their customer support failed to support when emails were failing to deliver to all suppliers. I was told this was an issue with their own shared IP addresses that they'd placed my email services on, but that I simply had to wait until I was moved to another IP address and that none of my emails would land in inboxes until that was fixed. This caused untold damage to my business and showed they weren't really that bothered about maintaining the minimum functionality of their product.

Our goto 3rd party SMTP provider

    5

Pricing was a concern at first but well... If we have to pay for a 3rd party provider to deliver our e-mails, we'd rather spend a bit more and have e-mails inboxed rather than discarded or sent to spam. Plus, if you run in any issue, Postmark support usually answers warmly under 24 hours... where the competition usually takes either forever or/and a very cold and super technical approach making you feel like an idiot.

    Pros:
E-mailing seems simple on the surface. But when it comes to deliverability, it's another story... The support at postmark is super friendly, fast and helpful. And that's well worth the price you pay. The deliverability is overall better than most providers and far superior to any shared host we tried. Their approach to separate marketing and transactional email flows is smart in that matter. You can connect your email flow either through their API... or the old school SMTP, which enables you to send through any software on the market that supports an external integration.
    Cons:
Honestly, nothing. At some point, they added marketing emails in addition to their core service which is transactional emails. I was a bit frustrated : most SMTP integrations wouldn't work with their initial implementation of marketing emails, as it required to send custom headers along the e-mail. But they took the feedback and a few months later, a workaround was implemented. I can say that this company really has customer satisfaction at heart.

    Reasons for choosing Postmark

We tried 4 of them on the market (including postmark) and ended up with Postmark. Postmark ranked the highest in our benchmark when it came to deliverability, ease of implementation, support speed & quality (support really cares about their customers' success).

    Reasons for switching to Postmark

Our customers noticed that our transactional e-mails were getting more and more in spam with our regular shared hosting SMTPs. So we went looking for a 3rd party SMTP to deliver our emails.

    Vendor Response

Thanks for such a lovely review, Geoffrey. You made our support team's day with your kind comments. We're glad to have you onboard.

    Reliable and hassle-free email delivery

    5

We switched over to Postmark from a competitor when we started to have significant email delivery problems. The transition went very smooth since they had a guide on exactly how to transfer from our prior service and what the differences are. It was also easy to update our code to use their new API. Everything has been rock solid so far.

    Pros:
Postmark has very helpful documentation to explain all their services and it's easy to get started with their guides that help you transfer over from other popular mail services. Their API is well explained and easy to use. Their email delivery is the best I've ever found so far in the industry. I haven't needed to use their customer support much, but when I did they were fairly quick to respond. I like how they include a long email transaction history whereas some competitors only give you 3 days or charge you extra.
    Cons:
They are not as inexpensive as some others in the industry, but I think their reliability and feature set makes up for the additional cost.

    Reasons for choosing Postmark

Reputation of email delivery, features, recommendation from other developers

    Reasons for switching to Postmark

Was experiencing email delivery problems to Microsoft email servers with Sendgrid.

    Cons:
The main con of Postmark is the pricing. Compared to other solutions, it's on the pricier side, however it makes up for it as a product and the solution itself.

    Reasons for switching to Postmark

We still use SendGrid, but Postmark is used for all of our whitelabel transactional emails on behalf of our users.

Before I started using Postmark, I also tried SendGrid and Mandrill. When I came across Postmark, I just stuck with them because it is SO easy to use. I feel like the other companies complicates the process a bit so it can deter users. I manage hundreds of WordPress sites and I set up Postmark for most of them. This gives me a peace of mind that emails are being sent from the sites, which is very important. I've never had a problem with Postmark. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve email deliverability, especially WordPress sites!
    Cons:
There was a problem with one site in my account that was sending a lot of spam, and instead of giving a warning, they suspended my account right away. I contacted them and they contacted me the next day, but if I had major accounts depending on Postmark, this would have been a serious problem.
