CoverMyMeds is a cloud-based platform that provides healthcare providers and pharmacies with tools to manage and streamline patients' journeys across the entire medical process. Using the built-in online portal, providers can facilitate PA & hub enrollment through point of medication selection.

Pros:

This platform is the premier go-to choice for pharmacy prior authorizations. Medical providers (e.g. physician offices) can use it at no charge. Filling out a form is takes far less time than waiting on hold to speak with someone from the insurance company on the phone, who will wind up asking the same questions or filling out the same form. The system can often get a response instantly, or within minutes.

Cons:

Some insurance companies (e.g. Georgia Medicaid) are not yet integrated with covermymeds. This is not really shortcoming for covermymeds, though. Some insurance companies need to take the initiative to become integrated.

Good program, but can potentially integrate better with McKesson

We have had a decent experience. I personally like the older format because it was easier to use.

I like how easy it is to send prior authorization forms to providers

Cons:

While it does integrate to some extent with McKesson Enterprise pharmacy system in terms of sending prior authorizations, I wished it was more functional where we can just access all prior authorization histories from McKesson instead of having to log in separately.

If you have time to throw away..

Terrible. I waste so much time on it. It needs to be worked on by someone with experience, knowledge and training in how to design a web site.

You only log in once a day. Where there is a person, they can find out why the application isn't working.

Cons:

The Chat is worthless. It's slow, doesn't answer questions, defers to a person who isn't there. The system is malfunctioning easily 50% of the time. It gives instructions to go to parts of the website that aren't there. it's archival system is primitive and they give forced choices that are not adequate. It repeats questions it has asked. it asks for research studies to back a statement. The size of upload files allowed is small in light of the requests it makes

Pros:

It is a free product that helps physicians manage the ever-increasing number of inane medication prior authorizations.

Cons:

In Massachusetts we are now having to use a Standardized State Form for many of the insurances, and CoverMyMeds has not updated their software to make this form available. Although it shows up as the correct form, when you click on it, you get one associated with the pharmacy-benefits manager, which is the one from last year. I have chatted twice with their help desk, with no update to the website.

CoverMyMeds has been essential to me and my practice. It takes some of the headache out of prior authorizations for medications which is really important and time saving.

Great platform with room for improvements

It helps with submitting prior authorizations so much easier. Customer support is very helpful and can help you when you are stuck.

Cons:

It can be difficult to use it for beginners and needs to be trained. It can sometimes provide misinformation like even if prior authorization was submitted successfully, it stated that it was not submitted. If submitting authorizations has issues, it does not make it clear what the issue is. Too many questions asked which makes it difficult.

Quick and easy way to get an authorization for medications. Cover my meds holds majority of the insurance forms and saves information so that you don't need to fill out the facility info every time.

Cons:

As of right now, there are not any cons to cover my meds. I know in the past some forms were out of date but I believe everything is current now.

This is very helpful when doing prior authorizations for patients to get their meds cheaper. It definitely takes some of the "hoops" that you have to jump through with insurances.
