About The EDGE

The EDGE is a professional-grade all-in-one construction estimating software designed by industry professionals for commercial subcontractors who specialize in trades such as roofing, interior walls and ceilings, drywall, acoustical, exterior finishes, flooring, EIFS, painting, wall panels, waterproofing and fireproofing. With options for sharing data, jobs and assemblies are stored in the cloud, powered by IBM or on a companies’ network server. The solution enables commercial subcontractors to prepare estimates with accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.

Users receive the most common manufacture material databases. For consistency across company, assemblies are used and include materials and labor. To evaluate the bid and measure variations, "what-if" scenarios can be created. The solution also assists in the estimation of manpower requirement as per the project requirements using Smart Labor. When the bid is won, EDGE On Site a mobile production management tool that extends the functionality of The EDGE into the field. With virtually no data entry, it enables users to connect to the original estimate, and offers real-time performance analysis to help locate the EXACT point wher...

The Estimating Edge - Essential for Commercial Roofing

The software is solid and well thought out. The database that comes with it is robust and has multiple manufacturers included from day one. The technical support is second to no one and user requests are answered and implemented when appropriate.

Best Commercial Roof Estimating Software

We love the software. For commercial roofing, it is far superior when compared to others, such as PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, Procore Estimating, or Excel spreadsheets.

Pros:

I love how we can build out standard roofing systems very quickly within the built-in conditions. It makes the complexity of commercial roofing feel very simple.

Cons:

If you are entering quantities instead of doing a takeoff on a blueprint, the process is not nearly as fast as it would be on an Excel spreadsheet.

Procore is not built very well to handle any more than residential roofing quotes

Reasons for switching to The EDGE

None of the others could handle the complexities of commercial roofing assemblies as well as the edge could.

The best estimating and project management tool for me.

I have been using The EDGE since [sensitive content hidden] first started it, back in the 70's. I used it at my two companies, later introduced to two other companies where I worked after I sold my company. I've since retired and came back and have now introduced it to the two new companies that I work with. [sensitive content hidden] has always been there for me and very helpful. The support team has always been available and very helpful. The EDGE has provided me with as accurate an estimate that one could produce, and also provides the means to purchase and manage a project with materials and labor, as long as the user takes the time to dial in his database and insert the correct information. Once that's done, it's a mandatory tool where I work.

Cons:

The snap to box is too small and hard to see on some plans. It would be nice if this was adjustable.

I enjoy the ability to be free of paper. All the estimates are in one place and the reports you are able to print give me all the information I need

Cons:

The fact that Firestone had been called Elevate for two years and an update wasn't pushed out to change the names. Makes doing work for Elevate and having to change names times consuming

Integrations with other platforms such as Foundation. This is not really a well-developed integration and does not really fully capture what would be beneficial
