About 2Checkout

2Checkout is a digital commerce solution that has both Payment Service Provider (PSP) and Merchant of Record (MoR)/reseller capabilities.

The PSP products enable online merchants to accept global payments through various methods. API connectors provide integration with other shopping carts. Digital commerce features include order management and customization of checkout flows. Subscription features help with the management of various recurring billing models.

MoR/reseller services assist with reconciliation, refunds, chargebacks, tax/VAT handling, invoicing and customer support.

The reporting and analytics features help users to view different aspects of their business.

Support is available via phone and email.

A great competitor to Stripe in the international Payment Gateway industry

Pros:

The best advantage is the TDR rate is much lower than their biggest competitors in the payment gateway industry like Stripe. Also 2checkout provides native support for card details entry on merchant website, which helps to build trust, customers doesn't get redirected to their gateway page to enter card details, this is what I love about it.

Cons:

Lack of marketing, Lack of innovation, I feel 2checkout hasn't progressed that much of stripe, their woocommerce github repo is almost 2 years old, no sign of interest in fixing bugs etc.

Avangate

Been using Avangate as our primary payment processor for 6+ years with literally no problems. It just works and does what it should do. Customer support is acceptable, email response is usually within 24 hours (my experience with their support is limited as I only need to contact it 1 or 2 times a year at most).

Easy to set up and integrate, intuitive, everything's well documented.

Cons:

Sometimes customers complain that the Backup CD they ordered is not delivered or significantly delayed. I'm not sure if it's Avangate fault, though.

48 days and still have not received payout

I have been using 2Checkout for just over 5 years. My experience up to the beginning of November of this year was okay, I would give them either 3 or maybe 4 stars. Then on [sensitive content hidden] our regular payout bank transfer never arrived at our bank. We have asked for proof and the SWIFT document for the transfer. Neither have been provided. We have asked for the sending bank contact information, they refuse to provide it. We ask our receiving bank to see what they could do and they ask for the SWIFT document so they could trace. Now I choose to give them 1 star because zero is not an option. We are a small business and a missing payment of several customer invoice and purchase payments have not arrived after 48 days and no information that is needed is being provided. So that is my experience,

When I started using it in 2017 it was a better company with great "how to" videos and great support.

Cons:

They have been sold twice sine we started using it and each time has been a downgrade. They no longer seem to care about the users.

Most reliable gateway processor

We use Avangate as payment processor for almost 3 years. I worked with too many providers before but never had a good experience as what I have with Avangate. Support agent was really helpfull when we contact them several times in a day to help us to develop our custom module for Avangate. process of accepting money is very good and professional while most of gateways only accept payments and when a chargeback happen just put a penalty (mostly Money!) on your account.

Not The 1st Choice When it Comes To Choosing Your Payment Processor

Pros:

Their transaction fees are reasonable, and they do have a free monthly plan + %fees for sole traders and freelancers, unlike many other payment providers.

Cons:

Their customer service, it took them more than 40 days to review my application, they recommended tons of changes for my webstore, after I changed everything they asked me to and followed all their policies and guidelines, they rejected my application without giving me a clear reason, afterward, no one ever replied to me discussing my issue and how they could help me resolve it.

Technical support is quick (often immediate via online chat), courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. After initial set-up and some familiarity with the control panel, Avangate is easy for our customers to purchase through and for our team to administer.

Cons:

Avangate's Affiliate Program feature is geared towards software companies with broad-interest software promoted on "affiliate" websites that are usually promoting a wide range of software with "coupon" or "discount" pricing. Our software is very niche market (educational / scientific software) and we would prefer an affiliate program that can be easily tailored to screen and accept specific affiliate sites, e.g. software resellers that offer other software in our niche market, sites that review software and other resources in our niche market, and affiliates who are also providing technical support and training for our software through their own business.
