About Fantastical

Fantastical is a calendar and tasks application designed for iPhones, iPads and Macs, which help businesses plan events, coordinate invitees, view contact availability, schedule frequent events and more. Key features include home screen widgets, notifications, multiple time zone scheduling, customizable templates and Apple Watch support.

Teams using Fantastical can group different task lists and calendars together via calendar sets, which can be activated based on a specific time or location. The platform enables managers to add tasks alongside calendar events and receive notifications about overdue tasks. Additionally, templates can be customized to create new events or text instantly, allowing employees to schedule frequently occurring tasks.

Fantastical offers integration with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype (for Business), GoToMeeting, BlueJeans (Events), Circuit, UberConference, Jitsi Meet and other applications, enabling team members to conduct conference calls with colleagues from within the platform.

Fantastical - The Ultimate App for All Your Calendars (Plus it's cute and fun!)

Overall I love it. I have been using it since August 14, 2016 (!!) and I still recommend it to everyone who asks and still buy the paid version every year. That kind of loyalty speaks for itself I think.

I love the fun easy to look at and uplifting interface. I also am obsessed with the sheer number of calendars I can sync into it and the functionality of them when being accessed via Fantastical.

Cons:

I had a hard time understanding why calendars synced via iOS vs directly with Fantastical was different. It is a big deal as to where it is "hosted".

Unobtrusive but user-friendly

The calendar is unobtrusive and easy to make or see entries. I can easily see the time zones and select which calendar sets I want to appear. The customer support is prompt and works with you until the issue is resolved.

Pros:

I like the pop-up calendar in the menu bar, enabling me to quickly see my month at a glance as well as what's going on this week. It is easy to see and change the time zones. I can make entries using more natural language.

Cons:

Some of the nicer features require a subscription. I had purchased a license earlier on, but lost the pro features when they went to a subscription model.

Great features and design

My overall experience with the software has been very positive. It certainly makes managing my calendar much easier, but I'm not happy with the shift to a subscription model.

Pros:

- Scheduling tasks with natural language is by far my favorite feature of Fanstastical. I love to be able to say "Meeting with John next Wednesday at 10:am for lunch" and Fanstastical is able to parse it into a meaningful calendar event, add the location, invite people, etc. - It has a very decent search tool, making it very easy to find future and past events. - I also love that I get weather information right in the calendar.

Cons:

- The recent changes in price structure made the software less appealing. I bought the software a while back, but then they've switched to a subscription plan, which means that the software I've paid for is now "free" for basic usage. I would find hard to justify paying a monthly fee just to enjoy a few enhancements to calendar apps that are already good enough.

Fantastical - a great alternative to Outlook

Very easy to use. Perfect integration with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook. All sync, calendar viewing, Zoom integration functions work well. Ability to copy/paste a calendar item saves a suprising amount of time compared to re-creating three or four instances of an identical or similar event for which a repeating meeting is not appropriate.

Cons:

When modifying an existing calendar item/meeting, there needs to be a “Do you wish to save changes?” dialogue box. It’s too easy to inadvertently modify a meeting and push the mistake to all attendees.

Fantastic Calendar = Fantastical

I don't know another calendar app that is packed with functionality while being well designed. New features are continually added. Apart from the natural language entry for appointments there are very well designed views (monthly, weekly and daily and the brand new quarterly views are available) and basic necessities (sync with calendar providers such as MS Outlook, Exchange, iCloud, Google Calendar etc.) there are lots of advanced features. You can let clients make appointments to your calendar ("Openings"), similar to calendly. Just send your client a link and let them chose a time that fits them and where you are available. You set up "Meeting Templates" according to your use case, e.g. I have a 1 hour Coaching session. You can send out "Meeting Proposals" similar to doodle. Colleagues reply to a poll what time works best for them. All proposed times are blocked on your calendar, until the meeting is finalized, making sure you don't double book. If the appointment has a link (e..g for Zoom or MS Teams etc.) joining the meeting is just one click away...

I like that Fantastical is very well designed and easy to use, while giving you tons of features. I used to use 3 or 4 different services to accomplish what I can do with one app now.

Cons:

I am generally not a fan of the subscription model, but on the other hand 40$/year don't break the bank. So I decided to live with it. The free version is great, but lacks some of the features of the paid version.

Fantastical is just designed so much better. There are tons of small things and having functions that used to be scattered and cobbled together in various apps are now in one well designed, easy to use package.

Fantastical is very easy to use. It has a pleasant user interface with flexible views. Adding events is easy and it has smart text ability. It integrates with multiple apps like Things, Mem, Airmail and others.

Cons:

I don't use Task Management as there are other apps that provide more features. Integration with Google calendar should be easier.

Fantastical is a decent alternative to Calendly

Fantastical is a decent value for the price. Sometimes the glitches are a problem though and it is hard to deal with this reliability issue when running a professional business.

I like the fun and clean Fantastical interface a lot and the variety of calendar views that are available. The price is also better than many other calendar options.

Cons:

Sometimes Fantastical has a glitch where people book an appointment but it no longer sends them a Zoom link. Also, there is only an option to book a Zoom appointment and no choice for a phone call or in-person meeting instead.

Pros:

Fantastic tool to schedule appointments and tasks, synced with your normal calendar. Simply type out the event you want in a normal, natural language, and the software will understand and add it to your calendar. For example : "supper with team at Darcy's at 6pm next Monday" and it will contact your team, send an invite and schedule you in!

Cons:

What I don't like about the software, is the notifications on Mac that do not seem to fade away. Otherwise, I'd love an ability to schedule tasks at certain hours, or have that sync both ways through todoist.

Using Fantastical...Everyday!

I use Fantastical everyday---it is indispensable in my personal and business world. So much better than anything else out there because it is highly intuitive, clean interface and works well with others.

Hands down, best calendar for Mac

Its a pleasure to use, and I can't imagine managing my day without it. The fact that it integrates with Todoist is great, so all my outstanding todo's are shown on my calendar for the day too.

The natural language event adding is wonderful. I can create an event by just typing 'have lunch with Joe next Wednesday at This Restaurant at 2pm', and Fantastical creates the event at the date + time, adds Joe as an invitee, and sets the location to the address of This Restaurant.

Cons:

It's perhaps a bit pricey, but when you think about everything you get for the price, it is real value for money and I resubscribe every year.
