About Google Chat

Google Chat is a messaging platform that helps businesses of all sizes establish individual and team communication across the organization. It enables team members to upload, share and collaborate on Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and other files in Google Drive.

Google Chat lets businesses configure virtual chat rooms, allowing staff members to streamline task assignment and progress tracking processes. The search functionality lets users access and review previous discussions and shared files. Employees can utilize Google Calendar and Google Meet to schedule and conduct meetings remotely. Additionally, with single sign-on and two-factor authentication methodologies, organizations can ensure secure user experience.

Google Chat comes with an application programming interface (API), which lets businesses integrate the system with several third-party applications. Google Space team collaboration tool

Overall I found Google Chat easy to use, integrate, and train the staff. It is good for team collaboration, easy to share files, and create the workspace.

Pros:

I have tried different messaging apps and platforms and Google Chat so far is a very light and easy-to-use app. It offers a variety of features like Real-time Messaging, Spaces, File Sharing, Task Management, and Security. Recently Google Chat has also updated AI features.

Cons:

There is a limitation in integrating the codes and logs like Slack within Channels.

Reasons for choosing Google Chat

Cost, ease of use, and simplicity. Chat integrates seamlessly with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, and other Google Workspace apps which makes it easy for us to use all in one workspace.

Reasons for switching to Google Chat

Slack was expensive and cost more to run. The application takes a lot of RAM and slows down the process.

Not Quite Slack, But Worth The Savings

This has been a helpful and cost-effective tool for our organization. We use it as our primary method of communication.

Pros:

The integration with google workspace. They're still developing it and creating new features that are making it more useful regularly.

Cons:

It was a hard transition from Slack. It's harder to bring in non-employees and intehrate them into conversations with employees. Spaces have to be designated for employees only or open when you create them and you cant change this.

Reasons for switching to Google Chat

Slack was expensive and when we switched to gsuite, it made sense.

Pros:

The notifications. In old version, I don't used to get proper notifications for calls. The updated version is really good and easy to use. We don't need to segregate the group chats and personal chats from now. This is one of the good options given by the developers and I love it The best thing in this app is we can now get the mail ids easily. In older version, it was hard to find a mail id when we get a message from an unknown user and now there is no such problem. additional option- Pin the conversation this was no there in old version. Easy to share photos, Gifs and easy to create meetings. One more best feature is we can easily organize our events in calendars. The font change option is good. Slide left to unread and slide right to pin really good. Overall the new version is very good

Cons:

I would love to see the below options which are currently not available in Google chat. 1. Voice messages 2.Private/Temporary chat option There is one more problem which the developer team has to look into- video calls. The video calls quality is not really good in this version. I was expecting a changeover but the quality of video calls are still the same.

Perfect for Quick Communication

It has been a game changer for work. It is easy to send messages back and forth with coworkers and helps keep us all on the same page. I love that it offers group chats too!

Cons:

There is not a thing that I do not like about Google Chat due to its amazing ease of use. I have no complaints.

Much better than the Samsung version, interacts with other text messages much better.

Cons:

Notifications do not reflect read messages properly. Sometimes it shows I have an unread message but when I click on the notification, it is referring to an old message that I already saw.

the interface of google chat is quite simple and with no complexity. new chatt pops us while connected and catches your attention. the messaging is instant

Cons:

Google chat is used by very few people, making it easy to forget. it is not interesting to use it if you want to hold with many people at the same time. And, if you doant have a google account, you wont be able to use google chat, hence limiting it's sphere of operation
