Such a great tool

A joy to use...wish I had been able to use this in my last few EA positions. I learned about it when I moved to my current association.

Pros:

Supper responsive support team at BoardEffect, fairly intuitive to use, makes the workflow for assembling Board materials so much easier and saves a lot of time. There are a steady stream of webinars to keep users up to date on the platform, and the BoardEffect team is always happy to get suggestions for improvements. For any company concerned with security of its Board materials, this is a must-have product.

Cons:

I would like to download the agenda pdf with no formatting, so that I can create an annotated agenda for the chair - have not found a way to do that but I am hoping BE will come up with a solution!

BoardEffect Saves Me Soooo Much Time!

It has been a lifesaver. Setting up the portal and creating user accounts was easy. Uploading is a breeze, and the collaborative agenda-building feature saves me a lot of time. People no longer have to send me their documents, as they can now upload directly into the agenda themselves.

Pros:

I like that it consolidates many disparate functions into a one-stop shop portal. I no longer have to send email polls, use SurveyMonkey for surveys, maintain a current contact list, or distribute bulky board packets via mail or email.

Cons:

I want to be able to create votes within a meeting agenda so that attendees can vote live during the meeting. I would also like to see attendance keeping as part of the Minutes feature, rather than having to take attendance manually within the board agenda. Currently, only Word integrates with the platform. I would also like to see Excel incorporated.

It has all the features we were looking for at a very competitive price. I liked that it was built by and for non-profit organizations.

Eh... some benefits, but needs some help.

Not my favorite. I feel like there are multiple other platforms are have a much more integrated approach to boards. Creating board books is challenging and very manual.

Document storage (the library), ability to archive, ability to deactivate members without deleting their information.

Cons:

not very intuitive or user friendly. Cannot easily track terms, reporting never works, dashboard is difficult to navigate and it does not have built in educational support.

BoardEffect Meets our Expectations

Overall, I think that this product meets my expectations. It has saved us a TON of paper, and has the functionalities we desired.

Pros:

What I like most is the "Contributor" functionality. I love that I can send out an email to all department heads that contains a link for them to upload their department reports monthly, without giving them full access to the system. This has saved time in many ways! No more downloading the file, saving it to a folder, then uploading it.

Cons:

The 365 integration is not always on par. This creates a time issue where at that point I do need to download the document, which sometimes downloads in PDF format, then trying to edit the document can become a nightmare. I also don't like that it doesn't agree with Grammarly. I use Grammarly daily, and it is especially helpful when going through long Board books. However, if I try to accept the "suggestions" from Grammarly, it simply reverts back to what the text was before.

New User, But Pleased Overall

Overall, BoardEffect is an upgrade from our past software. The users like the platform. Support has been very responsive and polite while quickly solving one issue and a recent use question.

Ease of user experience. Once we have our Trustees logged in, they seem to be able to easily navigate the information.

Cons:

Setting up reports and Board books for the first time was time consuming. There are hidden menus for some of the options I would have liked to have set up during the initial use.

We didn't know of another organization like ours utilizing the Onboard platform.

Reasons for switching to BoardEffect

The product is no longer available and Diligent BoardEffect handled the data transfer.

Pros:

User ease both on the back end for admins and front end for Board members. It has been so easy to onboard our new Board members that we even have their training on BoardEffect and have started to utilize it for all sorts of Board members resources.

Cons:

I wish that some of the "add-ons" like mins etc. were built into the standard system as those are standard operating items you need when running a Board meeting

Pros:

I love the workroom libraries - they make it so easy for a user to find information from a previous meeting.

Cons:

I wish I could have various e-mail templates. My emails for various meetings differ a bit so it isn't convenient to use the current email template in BoardEffect.

I thought transitioning within the same company would be easy. I was pleased with the features and other admins I spoke with were pleased with the product.

The experience has been good. BoardEffect has very good customer support so when I do have a problem or question it is addressed effectively.

Pros:

The ability to house all meeting materials in the same system. The ability to direct members to one place to view reports for review, meeting minutes, and agendas has been immensely helpful.

Cons:

admin's can be notified of surveys for their bosses but they can not complete them on their behalf without their own account. This is namely in regard to scheduling polls.

The WordPress portal did not offer the functionality or data storage we were looking for.

It really is user friendly, easy interface, plenty of storage, and security. It produces professional looking pages and documents and is quick and easy to update and make changes.

Cons:

It has been difficult to get my board members to log in and use the interface regularly. I wish you could preview and edit the digest emails in advance of sending them out.

Board Effect Review

Overall we have had a great experience with BoardEffect. It allows us to send board documents to our board members to review prior to the Board Meetings and keeps us all organized and informed.

Pros:

BoardEffect keeps our board organized and informed. I like the way the meeting books work for our board members. The calendar is nice where you can see what meetings are coming up and I as the coordinator appreciate the RSVP button and the Teams link option as our board members sometimes have to join via Teams.

Cons:

It works well for us but sometimes onboarding new members takes a little while to find everything. I have tried to use the minutes feature but it just doesn't seem to work as well as I would like so I don't use it.

It looked to be the easiest for our board to move to as it was the most like BoardPaq that we used before and had the options that we needed for our board management.

Reasons for switching to BoardEffect

BoardPaq discontinued. We researched and found that BoardEffect would be the best option to transfer to.
