    Great audio and video quality!

    5

Riverside not only has much better audio / video quality than Zoom does, but when we're doing podcast management for clients it allows us to separate the audio files along with other very convenient features that allow us to maximize our delivery.

    Pros:
From a video and audio editing perspective, Riverside is a really great platform. It has great quality and gives us a much better starting point for exceptional delivery. Being able to separat video and audio files from one speaker to the other gives us much more creative freedom.
    Cons:
A few of our clients use it for podcast recording (which we highly recommend), and we've had clients feel its difficult to navigate, and also struggle when it comes to letting guests into their "room".

    Reasons for switching to Riverside

Riversides quality on both video and audio was noticebly better.

I wouldn’t record with Riverside again!

Riverside has been easy to work with. They have an incredible library of support videos on each topic you could need. It was a slight learning curve but I was up and running quickly.

    Pros:
I’ve been using Riverside FM for the past year. It’s incredibly easy to use, creates professional looking audio and video projects, makes editing incredibly simple, and it’s AI integrations work really well producing many extra shorts formatted for social media.
    Cons:
It’s definitely more expensive than I wanted to spend. However, after trying the free trial period I realized the quality was supreme. I ended up finding more clients to work with to justify the expense.

    Reasons for switching to Riverside

I needed a more robust editing platform. I got that, but so much more with Riverside- recording, editing, branding, and publishing. It’s all contained in one platform.

    Stick with Zoom over Riverside!

    3

Overall, it may be good for talking head videos or podcasters, but if you are an educator or want music or the ability to have a lot of co grip over the timeline graphics and text, this is not the software I would choose. The price is reasonable, but features just aren’t there for me that I use daily.

    Pros:
I really liked the video download quality. It was clear and high quality recordings I could use in my self-paced courses. I also liked many of the editing features like being able to take out portions of video by simply taking out the text transcript. So easy!
    Cons:
A lot of things were not as good as Zoom. You can’t share sound only. If you want to share your computer sound you must also share that screen with your audience or students. I’m a dance teacher so this is a feature I have to have. You can buy MP3s and then upload them to Riverside and play them, but the music will not line up with your body movements or mouth if you’re a singer in the recording. Laying music tracks over your video is nearly impossible in the editor because it randomly just jumps around. You also can’t animate graphics or text like you can if editing in Canva. Meaning, you can’t have things bounce in or anything special. The screen share is also an odd view, there is white space in the recording over the screen.

    Reasons for choosing Riverside

Price and ease of use were important to me. I found a lot of tutorials on YouTube for Riverside and was also recommended by a teacher friend.

    Reasons for switching to Riverside

I was looking for higher quality video in the recording. Riversides video quality is excellent. I was hoping to be able to also use the editor within Riverside, but it is severely lacking compared to Canva editor with being able to animate and time graphics and text.

    Pros:
Our organization records and releases a new podcast episode every week and have done so for several years now. We adore Riverside for the ease of use for me (our host), our guest and ultimately for the video editing for our team. The user interface is simple and is great for all our purposes.
    Cons:
Only down side is just making sure that our guests have strong wifi and that everything gets uploaded before they leave the studio. We did lose some footage once cause the guest left a little before verifying it was fully uploaded. That's for sure more user error but still a flaw to be aware of for others.

Riverside is a helpful podcasting tool

    4

Overall it has been a positive experience. I have learned to work around the issues. And like I said it has improved within the past year. Editing has become smoother. Adding songs has become easier and I like that they have added ways to lower the sound and fade in and out of songs.

    Pros:
It's easy to record and edit videos within Riverside. Also it does create Magic Clips for us that I edit to become teasers.
    Cons:
Riverside has improved since I started using it a year ago but it still lacks the ability to put fancy transitions between scenes. One of the reasons why I edit our podcast episodes in another app and then transfer it back to Riverside. Sometimes when I correct something it doesn't stick so I have correct it again. It can be glitchy. Sometimes there's a lot of buffering I wish there was a way to edit words I mispronounce easier.
