I along with my team saved around $3000 per year just bh replacing on-demand instances with spot ones.Also, got recognised for this as this was done without any data loss.Now migrating remaining 30% applications data on spot automatically.

Pros:

The On Spot functionality is useful when we need the infrastructure to be hosted not so frequently and as per the need. This prevents us to spend money on infrastructure which is not needed at times and is cost friendly.Good for Big Data Jobs which need to run only for sometime.

Cons:

Unavailability might impact some critical scenarios and should be taken into consideration while planning to opt for Spot
