About BoardDocs

BoardDocs is cloud-based board management software for small and midsize municipalities, schools and governments. Primary features include meeting agenda management, policy management, event management, advanced search, document management and voting.

The meeting agenda feature allows users to create agendas, designate current meetings, access meeting minutes, add future meetings to the calendar, track changes, approvals and submittals and prepare meeting documents. Other features include audio and video playback of meetings, date and time stamps for documents, user-customizable templates, user account management, video support and security management. BoardDocs integrates with social networking platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

BoardDocs is offered on a monthly subscription pricing option. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. It offers mobile apps iOS, Windows and Android phones. Customer support is offered via email and over the phone. Other help options include blogs, white papers and support documents.

Pros:

One of the best aspects of BoardDocs is how it centralizes all board material is one easy to access location. I love that it eliminates the need for printing and distributing copies which saves time and resources. The searchable archive is the most helpful feature of BoardDocs. It is easy and quick to find past agendas, meeting notes, and other supporting documents. The layout is also very easy to navigate even for the public. BoardDocs is so easy to navigate through. I especially like the search function when I need to find a specific item that has been previously approved. I also like how the user receives policy updates through the Pro version of Board Docs.

Cons:

At this time, I do not feel that BoardDocs is lacking in any area and it was actually quite easy to teach to all the other users. While BoardDocs is a great tool, there are a few areas that could be improved. At first when using BoardDocs, it is somewhat difficult to learn especially uploading and organizing the content. It is also isn't as customizable as I would like for our district's needs. That said, once I got familiar with the system, it works smoothly and delivers great value.

Super Easy BoardDocs!

BoardDocs is a wonderful service for me as the Executive Secretary who prepares the school board meeting agendas, our Superintendent, our school board members, our employees and the public. It has been a wonderful experience with the best support and ease of use. I plan to keep it for a very long time. The BoardDocs staff is constantly taking requests for improvements and acting on those requests. Super customer service!

BoardDocs worked well for organizing board‑level documents and meetings and gave real value in reducing admin overhead. If you’re running a board or committee process, it’s a strong fit, though you’ll want to budget some time for setup and make sure mobile access meets your needs.

I liked how BoardDocs made it easy to gather meeting materials, agendas and minutes all in one place. It saved our team a lot of time on document prep and the board members picked it up quickly. The transparency it provided helped improve our governance process.

I didn’t like how the search and filtering features sometimes didn’t let us find what we needed quickly, especially for older documents. The mobile experience still felt a bit clunky. The pricing felt higher than some simpler alternatives.

Cons:

BoardDocs was a wonderful tool... until Community came along!

BoardDocs served its purpose well for us while we had it and we enjoyed using it. We have now upgraded to Community and find it is much easier to use and better updated than BoardDocs. In all, we enjoyed using it until a more updated version came out.

BoardDocs was great when we were just starting out with moving our Board packets to digital. It made it much easier to manage our meetings and for our Board members to access the materials ahead of time.

Cons:

It could sometimes be cumbersome to use and as the coding is getting out of date was hard to get any updates made to it. We also found the search feature to be difficult to use.
