Pros:
Cloud Ally is extremely easy to use and integrates with a variety of services. Its very easy to set it up and then forget about it, but is there when you need it! We use it to backup Office 365 exchange email accounts, Box accounts, and Sharepoint. Its come in handy to recover lost files and deleted emails.
Cons:
Sometimes it can be a little difficult finding emails to restore. I also wish that there was a global search option for emails. Currently, you can only search 1 mailbox backup at a time.

Not Enough

Our overall experience was for a shot time. During that time we had a good experience with Office 365 backup it just didn't have everything we were looking for in a backup system.

Pros:
What I liked most about Office 365 backup is that you had access to the files that you have backuped at any given time. Office 365 backup was not that hard to access and use. I like that about Office 365 backup, but at the time Office 365 backup is not what we were looking for.
Cons:
The thing I like the least about Office 365 backup is that it wouldn't backup automatically. We were looking for something that would backup every day on its own at the time and date set up to. Office 365 backup at that time didn' t have that to offer. That was the main reason we didn't keep Office 365 backup.

Review CloudAlly M365 backup from a CISO point of view

4

As a CISO, my overall experience with Microsoft 365 Backup has been positive and reassuring. It delivers reliable protection for our most critical collaboration platforms—Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams—without adding operational complexity. It's the only thing we have to mitigate ransomware attacks. The automated backups and straightforward restore options significantly reduce both business risk and downtime in the event of data loss or a security incident. While I see room for improvement in advanced customization and reporting, the platform has proven to be a dependable layer in our security and compliance strategy. Overall, it strikes the right balance between ease of use, costs, resilience, and regulatory peace of mind.

Pros:
As a CISO, what I liked most about Microsoft 365 Backup is the confidence it gives me in safeguarding critical business data. Knowing that Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams are automatically and securely backed up takes a huge weight off my shoulders. The ease of restoring specific files or entire mailboxes means we can respond quickly to incidents, reducing downtime and business risk. I also value the compliance and retention capabilities, which help me meet regulatory requirements without extra complexity. It allows me to focus on strategic security priorities while trusting that our Microsoft 365 data is always protected.
Cons:
As a CISO, what I liked least about Microsoft 365 Backup is the limited flexibility in tailoring retention policies and recovery workflows to very specific organizational needs. While the core functionality works well, I found that advanced customization can sometimes be restrictive, requiring additional workarounds or third-party tools. Another challenge is the dependency on Microsoft’s ecosystem, which can create delays in certain recovery scenarios if their APIs are throttled. From a security perspective, I would have preferred more granular visibility and reporting features to better align with risk management and compliance audits. These gaps leave room for improvement.

Reliable and Seamless Data Protection for Microsoft 365

5

My overall experience has been very positive. Microsoft 365 Backup provides a strong layer of security and business continuity by ensuring critical data is recoverable in case of accidental deletion or corruption. It saves time, reduces stress, and offers confidence that essential information is safeguarded. The solution has been a valuable addition to our IT strategy.

Pros:
The platform is highly reliable and integrates seamlessly with Microsoft 365 services. I particularly appreciate the automated backup scheduling, which gives peace of mind knowing that emails, OneDrive files, and SharePoint data are consistently protected without manual intervention. The user interface is intuitive, and the recovery process is straightforward, allowing for quick data restoration when needed.
Cons:
While the system works well overall, the initial setup and configuration can be a bit time-consuming, especially for users with complex environments. Additionally, reporting features could be more detailed, as sometimes I need deeper insights into backup statuses and potential issues.

Cons:
Cannot produce a report of total number of items backed up so we can compare it with the total number of items we have on our O365 account (Emails, files, etc.). Getting too many email notifications on grace period that we don't understand and only ignore them. No solution for backup of information stored on our Azure subscriptions such as Fabric data & configuration.

Pros:
Easy to use and above all very reliable, been using it with clients for ~5 years. Customer support has been quick and easy, only when issues arise do i need anything, which has only happened once. For the money, there's no competition, it's much easier than rolling my own solution, even if vibe coded. The backup covers everything with unlimited storage and it's safe in the cloud. Luckily I still haven't needed to do any customer data recovery and the system is automatically updated.
Cons:
The UX is quite slow and a bit outdated, but that's a minor nitpick and not really a problem or an issue.

Pros:
Overall, I have had a great experience with CloudAlly 365 backup and the value for the money spent is very competitive. We are using it for all the 365 modules. The setup was simple and straight forward. My interaction with support has been good and quick response. I have tested recovery for real time situations as well as to assure the process and have not hit a failure and recovery speed was better than expected. They even assisted me getting our Google Workspace data backed up after we migrated to 365.
Cons:
Not a major issue, but when a backup failure is reported, I needed to contact support for an explanation. The logging received could have been more detailed.
