About Firmex Virtual Data Room

Firmex Virtual Data Rooms is a HIPAA-compliant cloud-based virtual data room solution for small, midsize and large enterprises. It caters to mergers and acquisitions advisory, corporations, funds and private equity, pharmaceutical, mining and energy, investment banks and law firms. Primary features include document management, data security, user invitations, user activity, audit trails and reporting.

Other features include two-factor authentication, user-access management, email upload and drag and drop. Users can organize new documents by implementing the versioning feature of the software. The ‘View As’ feature allows users to preview the data rooms while checking the security settings. Other modules of the software include FileSend and Document Sharing.

It offers mobile applications for iOS and Android devices. Support is offered via email and over a phone. Other support options include a help guide, online case submission and a knowledge base.

Great Experience with Firmex!

I've had a great experience using Firmex. My client was particularly price-sensitive, and Firmex offered a very fair and competitive rate. I’ve uploaded over 500 documents so far, and the platform makes it incredibly easy to keep everything organized and accessible.

I really appreciate how clean and intuitive the interface is—especially when it comes to moving folders and files around. It makes organizing the VDR everything feel effortless especially when I am in a time crunch.

Cons:

The interface could use a bit of improvement, but overall, the platform has everything you need to run a full dataroom for an M&A process. It’s comprehensive and gets the job done efficiently.

I have seen other platforms and FirmEx is the most user friendly that I have seen.

FirmEx is very easy to use for those who set it up to those parties from the outside who are invited to use it. Document manage is very easy and it does not take hours of training to learn how to use it. The support is great as well!

Cons:

I can't think of anything that I don't like about FirmEx.

This was a platform that other law firms were already using, so we wanted to get on board as well.

I can organize the folders and files in a the way I wanted them to appear. I like that the dates on each file is shown as it provides information to the administrator if the file is updated.

Cons:

I did not like the set-up where I have to create redundant folders for users with read only permission and different folder for users with full access permission.

The ability to apply folder lever permissions allows you the security capabilities of restricting access to certain parties versus giving the same access to everyone. When conducting a diligence matter that is not always the case and one of the core features we provide compared to other providers in the market.

Cannot load or copy a pre-determined folder structure. We should be able to copy folder structures from completed projects etc.?

We do have the ability to upload full folder structures, either through an excel sheet that our support team can assist with populating or within your documents on your local drive. If there was an issue, it may be because of project or group level permissions that prohibited the user from uploading set information. Our support team is always available 24/7 for every user that has access to the project within Firmex.

Easy of use. Product support. Having use competing products I would say Firmex is amongst the best data room platforms.

Cons:

Initial view of the data room and lack of guide in program. However, once I learnt to use the software it became intuitive.

Good customer service

Downloading data from the site was easy until I learned I couldn't bulk download. I called to see if I could get bulk download access and my question was quickly answered.

Pros:

The issues I had with it were rectified quickly and efficiently. The phone number to call was easy to find.

Cons:

Not being able to bulk download seemed like a huge issue but then I learned it was a permissions issue and that was remedied.
