Reliable in the long term

We develop software for production automation and rely on Oracle as our primary database system. We have been using dotConnect for Oracle for over 15 years, primarily for connecting to databases and exporting and importing database schemas that include complex models and large volumes of data. It has proven to be a reliable and efficient solution, and it is used successfully by many of our customers in real-world environments.

Pros:

For me as a software engineer - easy to integrate in terms of implementation, concerns software products based on C# and VB.NET.

Cons:

In the many years of use, I have only once had a problem with the driver due to a newly released Oracle database version. But devart quickly fixed the problem with a new driver version.

Solid connecter for integration Oracle with .Net application

As a Tech Lead working on an enterprise banking application that uses dotConnect for Oracle for several years, my experience has been highly positive. Our application supports multiple databases, and dotConnect for Oracle allows seamless development across multiple databases using Entity Framework and ADO.NET. It was reliable and stable under load, and we have never had any performance issues with it

Pros:

- high reliability and no performance issues with our transaction-heavy banking application - easy integration with .Net stack and Visual Studio - seamless way to switch between this and other connectors to be able to support multiple databases with the same codebase

Cons:

It requires a licence per application user, which can be a consideration for smaller teams or projects with limited budgets.

Great product for developing applications accessing databases

Pros:

The product integrates very well in the development of applications on the .net framework and .net core platforms, in addition to dotConnect for Oracle, we use dotConnect for PostgreSql and together with Entity Developer, we develop applications that can access either Oracle or PostgreSql

Cons:

We would like it to be possible to convert SQL commands into Linq to Sql commands
